  1. That is exactly what I'm trying to do now. Try and find out where my passion lies. Could you enlighten me on any org or online site that helps you identify your own inner passion for confused individuals like me :o

  2. Thanks everyone for replying.

Simon43 asked what subject I want to study. This is where my dilemma begins.

My business is concerning diamonds and jewelery. Though the returns is good, I am not much happy in this line of business. So, I proposed to one of my relatives who's doing very successfully in a completely different line of business about jointly starting something where both invest. His first and only advice was to first figure out where my passion lies and do something related to it. He insist that I should study in that related field for a minimum of at least 2 years to gain exposures.

I'm already 33 now and feel it's a bit late to spend time entirely in studying only. Also, I'm still confused with where my true passion lies.

Thinking back, while leaving high school and before entering college, we used to have aptitude tests which helped in suggesting which line of studies is more suitable to pursue. Now is there such an option available to help someone decide what to pursue in life? Right now, I can think of at least 3 - 4 different types of business I could try my hand in.

Sorry if my post seems confusing to you.

  3. My education qualification is only a Bachelors in Commerce. I regret not having studied further. Now, I would like to further my qualification, but don't have time to fully devote to studies as my business is very demanding and uses most part of my day time. Distance learning is the only option for me now.

My query is whether there are reputed/recognized institute which allow such type of learning? Or all such distance-learning institutions to be avoided?

    Thank you :o

PS: I cannot delegate the running of my business to other as dealings are on a more personalized style and a substitute cannot fill in for me in my absence.

  4. guardian, did you get a workpermit based on your homeoffice?

phil, thats exactly what i worry about. i would really like to settle down first, see where we would like to live and what is the best place to have our office.

anyone knows more about this and could help?

    thanks

Pumi23, if you re-read my posting, the reason I used the word "legally" was to cover all the legal aspects including workpermit. So, yes myself and all the others I mentioned all have workpermit based on the address given as home/office.

rogerinthai gave another very important advice. First find out with your landlord/lady whether they allow an office from home and someone who's allowed it in past are more experienced.

  5. Since you are setting up your office legally in your home, I don't think it should be a problem. Our office in Bangkok was based from home for nearly 4 years when we first came here and before we moved our office to a "real" office building. Even now, I know many friends and relatives who run their business from home-offices in townhouses. Some have their office in the ground floor, whereas some have it on the 1st floor (or 2nd floor as a Thai person would call it).

So, you don't have to worry about explaining to the immigration/revenue or whatever department. Hope this helps. :o

  6. Is there any free software available which would be able to identify and tell me what interface type are the hard drives installed in my computer? I use "are" as I have 2 internal HDD, 1 external firewire connected HDD and 1 external USB HDD.

My USB HDD uses a notebook hard drive. But I'm not sure of the interface types of my internal and firewire external HDDs. :o

  7. Seonai, you mentioned in your last post that you "logged out" from one computer but were still logged-in on another. This is very much possible. If you go back to the computer from where you logged out and open TV, you'll see that you'll have to log in again.

You can also try on the very same computer but using two different browsers like IE and Netscape. Log-in on both browsers but log-out from one. You will still be logged-in on the browser you did not log out but you will be logged out from the other.

    Hope this helps. :o

  8. I'm baffled by this forum. What is its purpose?

The answer to being overweight is uniformly known. Eat a balanced diet, avoid too much fat and carbohydrates, and exercise regularly.

    It aint rocket science.

If more calories are burnt than calories consumed, you lose weight.

You can send me my cheque in the mail.

The same way as we have the I drink too much and the Stop Smoking fora.

  9. Thanks for all the replies. Yes, the name's ngu din. Now if only one of you could pack a couple of these in a box from the countryside and EMS to poor me in the concrete jungle of Bkk :o

Well, these snaked DO "bite". They have a sharp and hard pointed tip with which they poke if you handle them. Though there is no stinging, many have mistaken this mild pinching feeling to being bitten.
