  1. I would impose a mandatory "learn how to live with Thais" training for all foreigners wishing to stay in Thailand more than 6 months, as well as mandatory Thai language courses.

This may help many farangs feel already much better in the country they chose to come, and, at the end, understand that they can be quite happy without the Ministry of Foreign Affairs having to change anything.

Of course, this may not fix some important problems, such as the umbrellas and cool drinks (beer In this case, I guess) on the beaches...

Yes umbrellas and cool drinks can be real important on a hot beach..Let see how long u last without it mister.

Yes all of you from the u better go home brigade are probably fluent in your Thai language ?

  2. I do not see any reason why it would take Thailand so long to amend its laws..

Most other countries have these type of laws set already for their foreign citizens...

Hope Thailand will begin to treat their foreign citizens/visitors more equal as their own by implementing our suggestions.

It will make Thailand a popular Country again for the foreigners to visit and to live.,

The sentiment nowadays for Thailand is way less positive then before.

Fix these laws it might stop foreigners relocating from Thailand to Spain.

    I could be wrong

But I dont think they care if we all go to Spain

Though if it happens Spain might not be very happy

    Yes u are wrong...

  4. We have made a previous post about what can Thailand improve for its foreigners and here is a collection of your answers :

1.Ease land owning regulations so allow us foreigners to limited ownership example max purchase of one rai in our own name on the title deed.

2.Ban the 49% foreigner business ownership rules with thai share holders but change it into a 100% foreigner business ownership in Thailand.

3.Present us a one stamp a year hassle free visa. With no strings attached except our one year payment.

4.Land plots bigger then one rai should come with a minimum of one 100 year lease.

5.Police / and Thai courts need be more serious to end the Thai against farang crimes.(no 500 BHT fine for a bag snatcher)

6.Police need change their hot uniform in a uniform that is more suitable for this hot climate.Example bermudas and shirts with short sleeve.

7.Ban jet skies en horses from all Thai beaches.

8.Bring back on the beach chairs ,umbrellas, food and cooling drinks.

9.Consider all outdoor burnings a serious crime that carries a minimum of 2,500 BHT fine.

10.Modernize and simplify the rules for work permits.example 4 staff rules etc etc...

11.Ban all security guards from carrying whistles.

12.Go back to a democratic system as that will surely help to recover with the poor economical situation of Thailand.

13.Offer expats health care insurances for a reasonable price.

14.End the dual pricing in Thailand especially in hospitals.

If we forgot something please be free to add some more demands...

I hope that the Thai Ministry of foreign affairs will soon fix our Punch List and at least now they know our viewpoint...

For the (s)expats who think that Thailand is a perfect place already you better keep dreaming..

  5. here is why Jungta System does not work in the nowadays world :

It isolates the country only more from the rest of the world.

It can surely expect economical sanctions from Europe and the USA ,Example .upcoming Fishing ban.

Tourist numbers go down cause foreigner to scared to visit.(cant even get travel insurance cause article 44)

Foreign investments flat as can be..Foreign Companies and foreigners individuals are pulling out or wait to invest.

So a Jungta system leads to poor economical times and i sure that is not what the Thai population is waiting for!

Governments should control Armies and not the other way around..

  6. Yes Bangkok from all cities is the worst to invest for condos in Thailand ..

Problem there is too many thais who hardly buy ur resale condo....Thais only buy new condos off plan with payment plan..

then like the guy said its normal to pay 4 M BHT for 40 sqm and fetch 19 K on monthly rent..if ur lucky to rent it out...

Then they just keep building so rental prices only going down

U can forget about the one procent rule in BKK

Why buy a 40 sqm for 4m baht when you can get a 72 sqm for 3.8m baht?

It fetches 20 K monthly is it?

  7. I was the only one that could deal with the problems facing Thailand at this time, under the legal system of this country.

A pity that the interview was dubbed with an English translator voice which made it impossible to hear exactly what our PM had to say when he pointed to the problems that the country faced when the coup took place. The translation given above confused me a bit when looking at the constitution that was in place when the coup took place.

Maybe some of the forum members can help me out on that.

He said: "Thailand was on the edge of the abyss and we made a great leap forward!"

Not an answer that I was expecting. What was on my mind is that Thai is a bit confusing for foreigners when it comes to past, present or future tenses as for Thais that try and struggle with English and that is the reason why I asked. If he was referring to the current legal system he is correct but if he referred to the past legal system he is incorrect.

Nothing to do with my political affiliation since I am not in favour of any political party in my country since none of them ever addressed the equality of women; meaning to buy property without having to ask a husband and requiring his signature and other laws that make life for women more difficult as for men.

Any party that doesn’t address that issue in my eyes doesn’t really stand for democracy and that will also apply for the current authorities if they forget to enshrine the equality of women into the new constitution.

From a point of a woman nothing has changed during the last 5 administrations - Thailand is and still will be world dominated by men with women only playing the second fiddle. Not really the democracy that is on my mind.

So u think that Yingluck is a ladyboy ?
