  1. The worst thing about customs for me is that if they were to confiscate anything I doubt the Thai government would get hold of it. The people who take it from you will most likely will divide it up among themselves. Did the people who got their stuff confiscated and who payed a fine get some kid of a receipt? If they did it wouldn't hurt to sent it to a higher office to help make that the lower office is accountable. It wouldn't hurt to create a non-profit office to things like this. It would help make the customs people accountable.

I know a guy who gave a bottle of a whiskey to an airport offical so that he could go right up to the plane to great his elderly mother when she got off the plane. That was at Don Muang. Whiskey seems to go a long way when you want to get things done here.

  2. Thanks for the suggestions. The site has good info. Seems to be the natural approach to things. I'm sure I will be doing things like they suggest. They do suggest that you don't drink alcohol when flying. It does dehydrate but it also relieves some mental stress at the same time which is good. It will be hard to say know to a free sip. Aspirin doesn't seem so hazardous unless you drink while taking it. I know it also has an effect on the liver. I'll have to check to see if I have any. I want to enjoy the flight. It seems like there are three options which 'may' work: the 'healthy' substance free way, the 'medical' way with aspirin or some other drugs , and the alcohol way. Of course the later two would still require the stretching and walking.

  3. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for enjoying a long flight in an economy class seat? 15 hours is quite a long time, but that's how long I'll be up there. I'm not the healthiest guy around and I expect that my legs and back may give me problems while in flight. I plan on walking around quite and stretching in my seat while airborn. I have some muscle relaxants that I could take but I am not sure if they will help me relax. They are leftovers form a bad back last Spring. Any thoughts on this? What about aspirin? Or should I just drink a few beers or wines? Any personal experience with this?

  4. Well it's obviously in an area which has some money to put in a flowery median strip and lighting like that. There also seem to be a lot of electrical wires. 226 runs from Korat to Ubon.

  5. I get my size 12 at Robinson's on Sukumvit but there aren't many styles to choose from. Took a look in Chatuchak on the weekend and there seem to be some larger sizes there. You could always buy a pair off a desperate backpacker.

  6. Okay I'm writing this out of curiosity. I have a friend who is a big butt man. He's not gay. He just likes women who have big butts. He married a Thai girl who is plentifully plump in the rump. My question is do gay men go for big butts in guys. I know it sounds silly but there are quite lot of straight guys who like a girl with a nice tush. To me it would seem that gay guys might not like a guy with a big booty. What do you think? :o

  7. Well, if there's supposed to be dinero in the accounts for visa holders the banks certainly have to play a part in confirming its actually there. With the government trying to confiscate assets of corrupt members of the hasbeen government, the banks will also have to play a part. Some of those assets may be hidden in foreign accounts. I don't understand well but Thaksin and cohorts seem to have hidden transactions by using foreign companies in their dirty deals. As for the Thai economy going south it may be so to some extent because the world economy is still flopping around. China seems to be the place for investment in production at the moment. Which way will it all go? Will Thailand be ahead of the game?

  8. The farangs who would like Thailand to stay a haven of corruption are for Thaksin. Those of us who would prefer to see Thailand to move away from the things that have kept the majority of the people down are against Thaksin.

By the way, many of us have children who are Thai citizens who will spend their lives here or connected to this country.

Would you accept an outright corrupt leader in your home country? Would you accept a leader who forces the media to release only his view of the news and someone who would turn a blind eye to violent oppresion of those who oppose him?

The military involved in the Coup D'etat had good reason to take action. Thailand has had many military Coup D'etats in the past which were violent; this one was not. There is peace on the streets. The Thai people have to accept the current situation because Thaksin failed as a leader. He was a failure. If he did the right thing Thailand wouldn't be in the situation it is in today. Thaksin is also a coward to hide in England. He is a coward and a liar. Thousands of Thais have died under his regime. He won't put his azz on the line. And to put his children through the hel_l he has put them through, I'd say he is a really sick man.

  9. It depends on the person. Some farangs come here a few times a year as a tourist and are happy. Some live here for a short time and can't survive on the salary and limited work possiblities. Some wealthy farangs come here and have more opportunities. Some farangs die here - bad experience. Some western criminals come here and find it a nice place for them - Whitey Bulger and that recent Karr guy. Some farang frogs with a little cash are turned into princes instantly. Some weathered horny old men can find younger attractive women than the older used wives they dumped back in the west to live with here. Some gay males feel liberated here. Some transvestite farangs feel free here too. Some skillless musicians by western standards are able to become rock stars her. Some people are reborn here. Some people find happiness here by spreading their religion to the Thais. Some farangs here just like Thai food and are happy enough to have that everyday. Some farangs with drug habits like to come here because its Sabai. Some anti-western-world farangs come here to be away from the 'evil' west. Some farang drunks come here and drink anywhere all the time without feeling alcoholic. Some farangs come here for the girls and some for the boys. Some come for the Durian. Some farangs are corrupt. Some are honest. Some are pedophiles. Some are murderers. Some lie. Some become monks. Some beg. Some sleep on the sidewalks. Some do business illegally and some legally. Some like to use wives to get visas and residency. Some farangs come for Buddhism. Some come to sell. Some to teach. Some to decieve. Thailand affects everyone differently.

Some posters are happy and some are not. Thailand isn't fair to foreigners and other countries are not fair to Thais. The law means nothing. The only way to to be happy is to find it. There are happy farang people in Thailand who are murderers, rapists, priests, teachers, monks, businesspeople, pedophiles, doctors, government employess, tourists, embassy staff, etc. They are all happy with life in Thailand. Tell these people they are not happy.

Then there are people who are not happy here. They have their reasons. Most of them fit into the group above.

Then there are people who aren't happy and aren't sad.

    What else is there?

Me, I understand the orginal poster but I've had days when I would probably tell people to jump on a plane out of here.

I know a German guy who has been in Thailand for 9 years teaching English, probably illegally. He has had a one-year visa every year since he got here. His 'legal' visa comes from his connections to a corrupt monk with the power to do things. ANyways, this guy is much happier here than I am. He doesn't complain like I do because he knows that in Thailand corruption gets you what you want. Not everyone can work with corruption. Will it still be this way in the future? Who knows? If history means anything... It's true that Thailand doesn't offer the 'pursuit of happiness' as some western countries do but if you make the right connection you can stay and live the life you want no matter what the law means. Lots of foreigners have stretched or ignored the law to live better lives here. It might be who they are married to or who they know. They do extra work and don't record it in their income. They have businesses in someone else's name etc etc.

If things aren't going your way make your happiness like so many Thais and non-Thais do. The law will never be your friend no matter where you live. Just one view on things.

  10. You seem to be worrying too much about relationships and what others think. Sex takes two but I'd say ultimately its very selfish that's why porno is such a success. I agree with the fact that you need to 'lose yourself' in the act. If you are single you should, go out for sex for a few times rather than go out looking to find someone to love.

And if your partner laughs at you or can't accept you that person obviously was never in love with you anyways. You shouldn't feel stress from your partner when having or after having sex.

Listen to a few of the 1980's Jewish Doctor Ruth. She'll get the balls rollin for you. Maybe you can download an MP3 audio from her.

  11. Are you serious?

Okay, I just checked out your Thailand4Kids site, if that is your site. Well done. Thewholeearth doesn't seem to have anything. I thought it would go to some sort of health food site.

  12. Thanks jd. Does anyone on this board actually have a condo upcountry besides in Chiangmai? I bet you could make some money selling condos along the Mekong river to foeigners. The hard part might be finding Thais to buy the rest.

I guess the thing I remember about buying condos in certain areas applies to buy more than just one condo. It's for investors who buy in quantity. Here's a link : http://www.bangkokbob.net/condominium.htm

Here's another link to buying a condo:

  13. I believe Thai law does not allow foreigners to legally own a condo in their name outside of certain areas, such as Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and a few other areas. Am I wrong about this? Experts?

  14. If the north were not secure the great evil being, who we hope to soon become a British citizen, would land there, gather his evil kin, and create a country of the northern provinces called Shinoland. After that he would probably join with his mentors(his relatives) in Burma to invade the remainder of Thailand. Does the Thai military now have a shoot-on-sight policy for anyone who looks like the former PM?

  15. I heard there were a lot of tanked and bombed former military expat guys up there. And there were a few guys throwing up over a coupe outside. The nieghbors said this is at least the 19th time this kind of stuff has happened and they are used to it. They don't like it when it happens but they believe that it may lead to something better in the future. The question is will this be the last time this kind of event happens or will things get out of hand again?

  16. I talked to a taxi driver who told me that they are not allowing fuel trucks into the city. I guess it's because they could be used as bombs. Is this true? If it is would that mean that there could be a shortage of fuel in the urban areas soon?
