  1. I can be a million miles away from an event and still feel the pain of the people in that event. I can know what a person feels without ever meeting that person in the flesh, without ever hearing their voice. The dead can inspire the living to take action. What more do you need to believe?

  2. How about "We gotta get out of this place" by Eric Burden and the Animals

In this dirty old part of the city (most of LOS)

Where the sun refused to shine

People tell me there ain't no use in tryin' (Ask a landless farmer)

Now my girl you're so young and pretty ( Of course)

And one thing I know is true

You'll be dead before your time is due, I know (Check out the statistics)

Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin' (Reference to the Land of Lost Farangs)

Watched his hair been turnin' grey

He's been workin' and slavin' his life away (Possible a teacher)

    Oh yes I know it

He's been workin' so hard, yeah

I've been workin' too, baby, yeah

Every night and day, yeah ( Private school)

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

Cause girl, there's a better life for me and you (Absolutely!)

Now my girl you're so young and pretty

And one thing I know is true, yeah

You'll be dead before your time is due, I know it

Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin'

Watched his hair been turnin' grey, yeah

He's been workin' and slavin' his life away

I know he's been workin' so hard

I've been workin' too, baby, yeah

    Every day baby, yeah

    Wow, yeah...

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

Girl, there's a better life for me and you

Somewhere baby, somehow I know it

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

Girl, there's a better life for me and you

Believe me baby, I know it baby

You know it too (One more time!)

  3. I agree with BKK about the low class high so people asscoiating with TukTuk drivers and cleaning ladies. The truth is that they never would. But it is funny how Thais with dinero are willing to visit the Ap Op Nuet massage parlours which made Chuwit wealthy. It's also strange how mia nois usually recieve a condo or cash from wealthy husbands who are cheating on their wives.

There are plenty of working girls in Chinatown, around Lumpini, and near Sanam Luang who cater to Thai clients.

And there are the educated golddigging Thai women who marry for money. Of course, their husbands, farangs or Thais, expect to get 'love' and sex for giving the lady the opportunity to live in wealth.

But the truth is a world truth; every woman who marries for a better life is a prostitute. Every man that attracts a woman through their holdings is paying for what they get and so they are 'johns.'

But fear not, people can fall in love with their clients. Love grows.

  4. Watch out here come the church ladies! Why are so many posters full of hate? Or is it jealousy from repression? If you don't like the way things are, support the leaders who will crack down on the freedoms you don't support.

George Bush is certainly against bargirls but the US government doesn't seem to be against them. The one thing I've always wondered about is why the US Navy has to land in Pattaya every year? Why Pattaya? Is it for the Burger King? Seems the US has not got problem with their young men getting some action in Thailand. There's no need to have Cobra Gold every year here. The question is what really is the golden cobra?

  5. Well, from the posts so far it looks as if there's a good chance we will survive. I worry that my daughter will irritate the other passengers too. I often wonder if we should try to keep her up late so that she feels absolutely tired and goes straight to sleep once we take off.

    Thanks for the responses.

  6. I am planning to travel abroad sometime in the near future with my child and I'm worried that she may not be able to adapt to the time change. We will be going to the US so there will be a 12 hour change in time. My child is only 2 so she has her special hours of the day for sleeping as well as her bedtime at night. We will have to run on the opposite hours and I'm not sure what is going to happen. Well only be there for a few weeks. Will she end up sleeping during the day and be awake during the night? Will she get jet lag? Does anyone have any experience travelling with young kids into such a drastic time change?

  7. I'm just curious with your experience with laser whitening of teeth. I tried it once at Mahboonkrong and didn't notice much of a change My teeth weren't that discolored to begin with. Does it take several treatments to actually get your teeth white. Can anyone say that the process made their teeth white? How many times did you have to go to get good results? What other ways have you used to whiten your teeth?

  8. "only 45 kilometers" will soon turn out to be a lot for those who use the airport. You'll see that Bangkokians will choose to fly out of Don Muang rather than waste time going to Suwanaphum. I wonder which smaller airlines will have flights out of Don Muang. Lets hope AirAsia flys only out of Suwannaphum. 45 miles ads up to a hel_l of a lot of extra miles and gasoline usage. I plan to travel out of the new airport. It will cost my family 1,200 x 3 persons plus taxis I guess 1,500 to 2,000 baht back and forth. That comes out to close to 5,000 baht more per trip.

By the way, if you fly to Singapore, Laos, Cambodia,Vietnam, China or any other local country you will have to pay the 1,200 each trip. That will add up. A 5,000 baht round-trip ticket to Singapore will now be 6,200.

  9. One thing is for sure, Thais living in America don't have maids and nurses taking care of their elders. There is quite a difference from Thailand to the US. It's true that Americans, free from their roots abroad, do generally prefer to put their grannies in nursing homes more than Thais do but you have to look at the costs of having someone visiting daily in the US.

Most Americans are quite independent. They stay that way all their lives, so as they reach the final years many prefer to remain independent. Americans have small families and so the responsibility put on the children financially can be great. Many children can't stop work to take care of their elders and at the same time in fact they must work harder just to pay bills. To pay for their parents nursing home they need time to work. If a child can get away with a nurse visiting their parent a couple times a week at home they would.

Thai parents live with their kids all their lives whereas most America parents seperate from their children shortly after they graduate from high school and live independently from their children for their entire lives. To suddenly get back together at the end of it all often isn't wanted by one or both parties.

Some people like to push the notion that westerners don't care about their parents and personally I think this is bull. It's easy to say that you sincerely take care of your kids and grandparents when in fact you have a 75 dollar a month maid looking after them more of the time than you do.

  10. Swissie has a point. Thailand is the land of opportunities to Thai nationals and mafia types. But if you are rich and you don't have long to live why not live up your last days doing something.

But if you want to make money here you need to play by the Thai rules which means corruption and so payoffs and partners. And never forget you are a FARANG. Enjoy the ride. Make connections. Go for it.

  11. aaaaa, Not everyone is a hard worker. Lot of people talk but can't do. I'm one of them. It's true that a lot of the ideas we think up have already been thought of but not all. Everyone thinks that we are at the top of the hill in terms of new things then shortly something amazing like the Internet comes out. Who knows what's next. I can say that my life could be better. I don't know in what way but it could be better. Someone will create something that we will find hard to live without. I sure would like to release a plastic ring that I call the 'King Ring' right now. It's got a catchy name and would be popular with those who wish to pay tribute to the king. It's an alternative to the bracelet. Of course, some of the profit would have to go to charity. I wonder if it already on the production line. Anyways, I'm one who can't do so get with it.

  12. I'm pretty sure there is some sort of guest house in Chumporn. There's a sign for a guest house on highway 214 near the turn to Rattanaburi. There are also some small hotels in Satuk from what I heard. I guess it depends what part of chumporn you'll be in. If you are on the Satuk side there should be more options. There are two small hotels in Rattanaburi but they seem quiet dumpy. Check out a map. Most of the locals in that area seem to call it Chumporn more than Chumpornburi.

  13. "Well said Tourleaders, I miss walks along the coastline of Northumberland on a cold day, all wrapped up with hat and gloves on, then in to the pub for a pint by the fire. Not much can beat it."

I miss that too and I've never been to the UK!

Back to ..... I Want To Date Grandma!

What MIGHT the people back home thinking?

"Geez, look at that old pervert with that young girl!"

    Some?

"Geez, you'd think she could do better?"

    Possible?

    "What a lovely couple!"

    True Christians.

" I'm sick of all these Asian @#@# stealin' our men!"

    The herd.

" The lord works in mysterious way!"

    More True Christians.

    "Adopted?"

    Wishful thinker.

  14. Sounds like a great idea Belfast.

As for Khun Jean, an additional idea would be to get pics over the net and have Thai artists paint them then ship back the paintings. I did see one site way back three years ago on this but I think it went nowhere. You'd be able to give a lot of Thais work this way too.

If you can do, you will do well.

Most of us can't do @@@

  15. This thread has nothing to do with the plight of the poor in Thailand. It's all about morality, mine vs yours etc.

If you want to know about what goes on in a bar, go there and ask the girls. If you haven't been in many, you may never know. For those of you who claim to be moral, go talk someone of a different faith. If you want the truth you, need to throw all your preprogamming out the window and find the truth.

Some of what has been posted here is true. A lot of it is just spite or something like that I would guess.
