I did that last year… my PP only had eleven months left at extension date.
Now my extension date is far enough away from Songram to make my life easier…
I wouldn't plan on that. I just got my new extension and they were so busy with the financial details, that they missed the expiry date of my passport. They gave me 12 months instead of 9, i didn't insist.. 10 years ago, in an other province, they didn't miss the expiry date but gave me 12 months anyway, just reminding me not to forget to renew the passport.

Not a problem, we're normally a family of four, but with other daughter and family visiting we go up to seven. Family trip to a restaurant, no problem, I can have a tuk-tuk collect us all, take us to the restaurant, wait and bring us back for Bht300; note that Hat Yai tuk-tuks aren't crappy little three wheelers, they'll carry eight adults comfortably.
.
We live about 20km SE of Hat Yai, no public transport at all, so we would be lost without a car. Besides, i like driving here. I stayed in BKK before, hated to "drive" (crawling from one traffic light to the next) there. Tuk-tuks in Hat Yai are ok, but if you have to go out of town, they are very expensive. Hardly any taxis (only airport-taxis) or grab. As in many other southern towns, taxi business isn't comparable to central Thailand.

True. Good luck just picking up one in the city though.
In the city you have to relay on tuktuks and songthaeos, minivans for longer distances.

Hat Yai is apparently the fourth biggest city and it's the closest big city to my residence. Strangely enough, Hat Yai does not have a taxi service of any kind. Here in the Deep South you really are on your own when it comes to transportation.
Hat Yai airport does have some taxis. You could try to call one of these.

I guess the fact that I live on an organic farm that happens to be one of the first to be licensed in Thailand to grow medicinal cannabis (the CBD variant) might indicate that I'm somewhat more knowledgeable than the average poster here about the legal cannabis industry in Thailand.
As for "the worst of the worst sold in Thailand" (your post above to Ivor), I'm not a doper myself, but I seem to remember from my more youthful days that Thai stick had possibly the best reputation in the world.
The real Thai sticks were good and among the best. But this was long before the time of the cultivation of indoor cannabis, which is very popular these days and has a much higher THC content.

You were lucky, after both my vaccinations they took the paperwork I had, and I received nothing in return, everyone walked out empty handed.
As for a certificate of some sort... nothing.
You must have been in a better organised vaccination centre.
In most local and provincial hospitals you won't get a certificate automatically, you have to ask for it (normally takes a few days).

You have misunderstood. The price increase is not the same for all brands and the wholesaler/shop does not know what the new price will be until they actually purchase new stock. So they guess the increase and start charging the guessed new price until they know the new price for sure.
Hence the 2 price increases for the OP. They guessed a 5 Baht increase when selling the old stock, but when they purchased new stock, they found that they had guessed wrong and the increase should have been 10 Baht. So they increased the price again.
BTW my local shop didn't increase the price until their old stock ran out. It took about 2 weeks.
Ok, got it. You got very lucky, as most shops usually sell old stock to new prices. Anyway, my local shop ran out of stock long before the new prices had been announced. I don't know the new prices yet, but the shop owners told me if the price increase is to steep, they will stop selling cigarettes as the Malaysian ones around here are much cheaper.

This usually happens when price increases but either the wholesaler or the shop is selling old stock which should be at the old price.
They guess the increase to profit from the old stock. Then when they get new stock, they find that they have guessed wrong and so they increase the price again.
No, old stock will always be sold at the new prices in TH, except something gets cheaper..

They divert the water via the Tha Chin, which flows to the west of Bangkok, but it only has limited capacity.
They did this 10 years ago. We were very thankful as this enabled us to live in a huge lake for 2 months..

Passbooks are just another level of Thai bureaucracy. Any other country use them? I don't know of any. I used to live in Bangkok and had my account at the main Bangkok Bank branch. Then I moved to Kalasin Province, but was unable to transfer my account to my local branch. When my book was full I asked at my local branch for a new book and they said, in all seriousness, that I had to travel from Kalasin to Bangkok to do it.
And when I was in Bangkok I went into a branch other than my own to renew my book, and got the default reaction of any bank staff anywhere - Cannot. It was late in the afternoon and I didn't have enough time to get to my branch and would have had to make a lengthy trip back into the city the next day, so I decided to argue about why. Of course, the assistant had no idea, so she called the manager out to see me. And he decided to be helpful and issued the new book. So they could do it if they wanted to.Very often in Thailand, you have to argue to achieve anything. Of course, it can have to opposite effect and they'll just look right through you and act as if you aren't there.
You couldn't transfer your account to Kalasin, but you could have moved your money to your new local bank. I changed places several times and instead of going to the original branch i withdraw nearly all the money and deposited it in a new account. The original bank than closed the account.

They aren’t registered so unable to collect tax from them(?)….they put as little as possible back into the economy (!)…..it’s a mystery to me why they allowed this in the past but now I think they’re a huge problem with the spread of the virus and how do you get them out…how do you control their movements etc.
If these people get Covid they don’t go to hospital and run up a 100 or 200,000 baht tab…they stay home and stay off the streets or worse…they go to work because they need to eat????
You don't seem to know a lot about Thailand. Migrant workers do a lot of work that Thais won't do and they are very important for the economy. They don't pay tax, but not because they are not registered, rather because they don't earn enough to be taxable.

I remember touring around the deep south provinces and wondering why the motorists seemed to be better drivers than elsewhere in Thailand. I figured it was due to the influence of Malays driving across the borders for the Thai poontang.
I don't see any difference between drivers in the deep south and anywhere else in TH. Some of the Malaysian drivers act as crazy as some of the Thai drivers, as they know exactly how the policing works here (it rather seems as some of them enjoy the road frenzy here, as they can't do it back home).

I'll do another phone around this week, including Rajindee, see if I can get any sense out of anyone.
I called Rajyindee last week, as i'm registered there; they said that it's fully booked. Maybe i'll go and ask them in person, but i'm not in a hurry, as i'm only interested in Moderna and don't expect them to get any before next year.

It isn't my list, it's the checklist immigration supply, I just got someone to translate it for me, I assume there's a similar document for the retirement extension. The TM6 front /back and separate comment is my observation based on my first extension where we had to go and get it photocopied as they weren't happy with they way I'd done it, which was one side only as it was in my passport.
I supplied 3 months statements, though the checklist doesn't actually specify. Though this is for marriage extension not retirement.
But it all depends on who you get on duty that day, and what mood they're in.
I can't say I've ever had a very bad experience with Hat Yai immigration, but neither can I say I've had a very good experience.
Never had a really bad experience too, but last year a very good one: extension and 90 days report done in 20 minutes.

I said "2 passports".
If you are using the replacement passport of your replacement passport, so your TM6 is 2 passports away from now, that's when they hit a problem.
Doesn't happen often, the IO said she had never seen this.
You're right, it's the same with banks. In the transfer stamps the number of the previous passport is included, but not the number of older ones.
-
Hi Stocky, i have to admit, that i don't do everything as it's on your list (i do retirement though). I never cared about passport copies in portrait format and i only copy the pages which are necessary. I never copy the backside of the TM6, as the entry stamp is a passport page they ask for anyway. Never had a problem with these things, at least until now.. Did they ask for a 12 months bank statement or only 3 months (only relevant if money in the bank method)?
I went about 10 days ago for the 90 days report and was surprised, that this time the place was very crowded, but got my passport back in about 2 minutes. Good that they have immigration officers in front of the building again, the student girls really haven't been that smart..
-
OP, better safe than sorry. Officially you have to renew the 2 years (temporary) license before the expiry date. Renewal of up to one year after the expiry date is only for the 5 years licenses. The 2 years license should have the expiry date exactly 2 years after the issuing date, unlike the 5 years license which is always dated to the next (5 to nearly 6 years) birthday.

Just popped in to get a certificate or residence - what a load of ..
After being given the runaround I asked for an appointment for my yearly extension, which expires April 7th.
You now need to book on LINE messenger - you scan the QR and then supply the details from the second photo.
Is it just me? We got there about 10.45 am, there was a parade going on infront of the office, everyone was in uniform, so we waited - we then found out that the info we were given the week before was false and we needed to collect a slip from the old immigration office, who took all the documents in exchange - returned to the main building - the guy outside in the uniform has disappeared, we went in and gave the papers to a student girl. “oh, can you come back at 1.00 ??” I looked at my watch, it was 11.20 - she backtracked and sorted things - but like really?
There was one chinese guy and his adsistant doing a 90 day, Inside the only person processing customers was the marriage extension girl - a western guy with a walking frame sat outside, he had no clue about the appointment system, obviously had to go through a bit of effort to get his paperwork together and get to the building getting about, yet they sent him away with no appointment or time scale, told that he had to get another bank letter the day before his unknown appointment.
Was someone having a laugh, check the sample names - W. Disney and Alice Dee (LSD) - surprised no one advised them to use William Anchor.
Thanks for the information. It's exactly the feeling i got when i made my extension last month. Student girls with no clue in front of the IO and that i just got lucky to be able to get the extension the same day. I will have to get two extensions next year (passport expiry) and will go 45 days before the expiry of the extensions. Normally i got all the necessary information when i did the 90 day reporting, but that's difficult now without the possibility to talk with an officer.

Ah, OK. This is pretty standard for a marriage visa - house book, ID card and a completed form from the landlord along with a stamped original of your statement.
We always go in a week or so before and get a pre-prepared pack if paperwork, there is a checklist in Thai - I think Stocky translated it to English.
Covid or not, it’s high time they got an appointment system. Just to save an extra trouble I always go to the bank at 8.00 am on the morning on the day, we are usually getting falsely accused of not having paperwork by that cantankerous old guy by 9.30, sitting around at 11.30 am, we watch the IO leave for lunch and then return at 1.30 pm and back home at 3.00 - total waste of a day, so an appointment system is good news.
The retirement visa officer is the girl with short hair, she used to do the marriage visas. I think she is nice and polite, she made the process easy when she worked on the marriage extension.
The visa officer with the short hair did my extension plus 90 day report within 20 minutes last year, but i didn't see her last week. The old guy has nothing to do (and is rather bored at that), as the papers get controlled outside the office for now. They gave me the checklist too (for the first time), but i didn't care reading it, as they asked for an affidavit from the embassy, which is not needed (and not possible) with the money in the bank. That's why i got to talk with the officer directly.
I only had to wait for a few hours when i moved here from BKK and made the first extension, later on it was never a problem. If the appointment has to be made in person (as i wrote they said it's not possible online, i don't know about a phone call, but rather doubt it), it could be rather troublesome for somebody living in Ranot or an other place quiet far away, that's the reason i wrote it here (i live only about 20km outside of Hat Yai, so no big problem for me).

new at hat yai imm 1 year extension
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

OP, did you scan the QR-Code at Hat Yai Immigration and then use their Line app.? I did my extension last month and just had to fill in my name, passport number, expiry date of the existing extension and the e-mail address.
