  1. They took mine out of my bag at Krabi airport and kept it.
  2. So, do they learn how to pronounce English words correctly or the British way? BTW, American English is the International Standard for both written and spoken English, not one of the dozens of different "colourful" accents from England where people eat their vowels. How many more words will my child learn to misspell there? ????
  3. This is the school with teachers from the UK who supposedly are teaching the kids English, correct? ????
  4. Good info. So almost 7 x more expensive than Chiang Rai. And people in the South wonder why people would even spend one day up North, 555. Might just go to a more Thai location like Surat Thani that doesn't have as many tourists and pay the local price like I am doing now. FYI, they have "international" schools with all foreign teachers here in Chiang Rai, too. And yes, they are outrageous expensive, too.
  5. I think it's better to start with the school that meets my criteria then we'll find a place close to the school. I know a lot of Russians are staying in Phuket because they don't want to die in Ukraine because Russia is corrupt and has <deleted> weaponry that doesn't work so well that they've resorted to buying drones from Iran. And I already know Russians snatched up a lot of "Farang" rentals in Phuket. They don't speak Thai and aren't going to get the best deals. I know that. Yes. But this topic is about a good nursery school on Phuket island, not property rentals, 555.
  6. So which Nursery school should I move my child to? That's the question. I have family and a house and two cars in Chiang Rai. It's very nice here when the air pollution isn't high. Maybe 2x cheaper than the South. And the best weed in Thailand is grown here. It would cost an incredible amount of money to buy a house down south. You probably don't know that because as you said, you've never spent one night in the North. ???? Ad by the way, Hua Hin is 240% over the international limit for PM 2.5 today, Thursday, March 30, 2023.. Where is this mythical place below Hua Hin with no air pollution above the international limit ????
  7. Planning on getting the <deleted> out of Chiang Rai next year for most of the smoke season. This <deleted> is getting old! ???? Wondering if anyone knows of a good private nursery school for a Bilingual (English and Thai) 4 year old on Phuket island? Criteria: 1) Not too expensive. Currently pay about B3000/month for a good private school in Chiang Rai. 2) Flexible start date preferred. Since no one knows when the smoke season starts to get really bad, flexibility would be nice. If not, a school that has a semester between January -April. 3) Must allow short term students. This is a seasonal thing, we won't be staying once the rainy season knocks the AQI levels down back in Chiang Rai. Any suggestions for us to look into? We're going to Phuket Memorial Day weekend this year and can check out your suggestions. Thanks in advance. ????
  8. Hey, I just received today a traffic camera ticket for running a red light. B500. And yes, there's a place on the form for "speed limit enforcement". Surprised to see there was a pretty clear picture of the car running through a red light and another clear picture of the license plate on the back. My wife says they can also give you a ticket for going over the white line into the motorcycle zone if you have a car. There's an actual police Sargent name on the form as "officer issuing traffic ticket" so presumably they have an actual person checking the tape. When I asked my wife if there's any penalty other than the fine (which you can pay at any banks ATM, btw) she said "no". I said well then rich people probably just run red lights all the time and pay the fines. You didn't hear that from me if anyone asks. ✅
  9. The math checks out. ???? The OG Soi Cowboy was a Brother who was an American GI "castaway" from the war in Nam. Legend has it he rode a horse around. In Bangkok?!??!?
  10. Don't be silly. What will all the government ASEAN officials have to TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK about at their VIP meetings? ????‍????
  11. My wife from CR province claims this much burning didn't happen in the past and is a relatively recent thing. She claims there was more rain, earlier. I'm guessing that's FALSE because: 1) You don't notice things like that when you're a child unless your parents are reacting to it. Saw her parents last weekend, they weren't wearing their masks indoors with the screen doors open to the 300-400 AQI dirty air outside that looks like snow. Like the air inside your house doesn't come from outside and is cleaner because MAGIC, 555. 2) Your brain tends to forget the bad things and remember and enhance the good things from your past. For example, I remember this one porn scene that I hadn't seen for maybe 15 years and I saw it again last year and it turns out my mind "edited" it and took out the boring parts and made the "good parts" better. ????
  12. Kebabs? Don't think that's what Thais call meat on a stick. Of course it fits with the arrogant Whiteman telling the locals what they're calling something is all wrong and they know better because they've been to Morroco once on a holiday. ????
  13. Do the Han Chinese even know that the Chinese Tai people are the largest minority group in China? And that this minority left China to settle in an area now named after them? And that wealthy Chinese people basically took over commerce in Thailand and integrated themselves into government of Thailand and now basically are the wealthy and most powerful 5 families in Thailand? ???? Read a book sometime, Chins*! *The Chins are a group of people who invented the mass produced cross bow technology that enabled simple peasant rice farmers to be deadly accurate and surprise surprise surprise the rest of China adopted their language and even named their country after them. Same same, but different. ????
  14. And a few really don't want to understand you. At [South American Jungle] Coffeeshop... Me: Ao expesso yen wan noi krap Worker: Ao Latte mai Me: Mai chai Ao expesso yen wan noi krap Worker: Ao Cappuccino mai Me: Mai chai. Khun put passa Thai dai mai Weirdly enough, I got severe diarrhea and joot joot'd 11 times after I drank that espresso yen and had to go to the emergency room and get antibiotics. I'm sure it was just a coincidence. ????
  15. Are you British? You ever read that hot mess called "Shakespeare"? Using his/her is a relatively recent innovation in the English language according to a Cunning Linguist. ????
  16. My wife told me essentially the same thing. "Our cultural tradition the big vehicle takes care of the small vehicle". Amazing you got actual work renumeration. ????
  17. So, you're not allowed to give your wife the phone number of the zoo and tell them Mr. Lyon called? Asking for a friend. ????
  18. Are they ticketing Russian trollops for riding on motorcycles in thong bikinis yet? That really annoys my wife when I look at that. ????
  19. Yesterday, a 14 year old on a motorcycle hit my car. I was turning right, had the turn signal on well in advance and the motorcycle decided to pass me on the right. Their excuse was "why were you driving on the correct side of the road if you wanted to turn right? There was no room to pass you on the left" Slow down and wait? What the hell are 14 year olds in such a hurry to die for?!??!? ???? No helmet and no drivers license for the motorcycle driver and passenger, another child. I on the other hand, had an International Drivers Permit (the cop wasn't even interested in seeing it), and insurance and my seat belt on. Lucky for them, only minor road rash and concussions. Well, no ticket for the 14 year old. No ticket for the adult owner of the motorcycle who gave them the keys. The cops did confiscate the memory card of our car's dashcam for their "investigation". Well, looks like they learned their lesson.... "You can get away with almost anything here". ????
  20. Sometimes late at night I wish my head was smaller. ????
  21. I'd advise you to see an Optometrist and get your eye prescription updated.
  22. Hey, maybe they're saving money by not including heat vents and just using freezing cold air at high altitudes. ????
  23. Amazing how many International Banking experts there are here. ????
