Previous reports suggested that private hospitals would be prepared to give clients two doses for about 3-3,500 baht.
Not, if they can charge 10,000 baht!

Only 50 an hour vaccinated? That is ridiculous. I guess there is only one station giving shots. I remember seeing thousands vaccinated for the flu shot in the USA with only 4 stations. I sincerely doubt that the issue is a lack of medical personnel. After all, Thailand is supposed to be a medical hub! It should not take more than 30 seconds to get a jab! Of course, there is the huge pile of bureaucracy to deal with first!!

Closing the barn door after the cows are out? They have had over a year to do this right!

Thailand does not have a central database for foreigners residing in the kingdom, with data spread across multiple agencies.
Wow! So I guess Immigration does not count?

So, they decide to spread the infection through out the country from one of the hottest covid infection centers?

Concerning measures to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in Phuket, visitors who travel by air must provide documents to prove that they have received both COVID-19 vaccine doses. They are required to undergo rapid antigen tests, or reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) tests, at their place of origin, and to register on www.gophuget.com and the MorChana application.
The same regulations apply to visitors who arrive by land transport. People who do not have a certificate of vaccination and have not taken a swab test will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine. If they plan to spend only three days in Phuket, they are required to stay in home quarantine for the three days. The measures take effect today.
Yes, I can see the wealthy foreign tourists lining up to go to Phuket. Not!
Nothing turns off the wealthy more than bureaucracy! Then again, nothing turns on the Thai government more than useless bureaucracy! We will see who wins!

For those with travel passports, the easiest thing would be to put a stamp in just as Immigration does. Of course, in the interest of bureaucracy, I am sure that is unacceptable and a separate document with fees will be required.

They'd need to show proof they were travelling like an air ticket, their passport, proof of vaccination and pay 50 baht.
The Thai government just cannot resist adding fees for everything! Of course, the airlines are the absolute masters of the fee game!

He said that it was true that Thais would go first but foreigners then the homeless or tramps would go next
Well, if anyone was wondering how the Thai government feels about expats, this statement says it all!

We should thank repubs who bravely face the virus without fear and make surplus vaccine doses readily available for those of us with less self-righteous indignation, and more sober reflection.
A bonus would be a sharp reduction in repub congressional seats due to medical complications.
Every time I hear of a Republican who contracts Covid-19, I am reminded of the Darwin Awards. I really do not care if they infect each other and die. After all the virus is just a deep state conspiracy! What I do object to is those smug and arrogant individuals who care not for their fellow man.

Only a Democrat would think that US Embassies around the World would supply a vaccine. Always wanting something free.
Typical Republican arrogance! The democrats feel that it is our right as Americans to expect some concern and action from our government. No one mentioned anything about free. Anyone who has ever dealt with the US embassy knows that nothing is free.

Did anyone seriously consider that Thais might not want to disclose personal information?

The warning comes after a foreigner was charged for riding his motorcycle without a helmet and also received a warning from police for not wearing a mask.
I presume that the farang drove his bike into the air conditioned police office. He would surely be fined outdoors in the heat.
-
I think that farangs can be assured that the "standard price" will include a hefty profit for all involved regardless of the interest in having as many people as possible vaccinated. The foot-dragging in obtaining vaccines demonstrates the governments lack of interest in having as many people as possible vaccinated.

The rush to secure vaccines comes after Thailand was hit early last month by its biggest outbreak yet, which has seen its total cases more than double and deaths more than triple.
Such a success surely merits the reopening of tourism!
I am sure that millions of tourists will want to pay the new fees and come to a Thailand where more than half the populace is still unvaccinated!
-
I think it is the same reason that Warfarin(coumaden) and most of the other name brand drugs have gone up about 20% at Fascino. Whatever that is?

I don't know about tomorrow but I can pretty well guarantee there will be not one but several more contradictory statements within the next few week.
What hospitals will think they are supposed to do, when expats with appointments show up next month, is anyone's guess.
The answer to this question is easy! They will insist on a $100 fee for a second class person!

I guess she has inside information about how long it is going to take to get vaccines to Thailand!

Has nothing to do with young or old but total number. Yeah an old guy with a failing heart gets Covid and dies 2 days earlier is no doubt tragic death caused by Covid , if there was no Covid he would have lived extra 2 days . Woohooo
The total numbers are rising daily. The western world has basically honest reporting so the number of deaths due to Covid are are around 2 million. Asia is less forthcoming but the numbers will equal and exceed the west. The bottom line is that millions are and have died. Thailand is now reaping the negative benefits of allowing outsiders into the kingdom during the recent past. The only way to stop this pandemic is to close the borders before it arrives. China should have had all travel banned a year ago to stop the spread.

Thailand has yet to start its mass vaccination drive but has been administering the 2.5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine it has received so far mainly to health workers or people deemed at risk of exposure.
I presume that the Bangkok Hiso's and just about everyone wearing an officers uniform makes up most of those deemed at risk of exposure.

Can not take the credit, but someone on FB said in any elections, studies, findings 98% is hailed as a great success, but not when it comes to Covid. Survival and full recovery rate for Covid is 98% and yet everyone only looks and considers the 2%, no attention is paid to the 98%
The 98% primarily consists of the young. For those over 60, the statistics are more frightening. Most of the precautions worldwide are there to keep from sacrificing your grandparents. Today, it was reported that Russia had 400,000 excess deaths in the last 6 months. That represents a small percentage of the population as a whole. Multiply it over the world and the number of deaths is in the millions. Statistics in this case minimizes the absolute number of deaths and those disabled.

I see that Chon Buri is in the highest restriction category. I have yet to see any information on how many Covid-19 cases are occurring in Chon Buri. I have long suspected that Pattaya has many more cases than the government tells us.

The medical staff should all have been vaccinated by now! I guess the government hates to be forced to speed up this process.
