I originally planned on the "800k in a Thai bank" method. Then when the new rules on 65k baht income came out, I thought that I'd give that a try. Made my first transfer this month, always with having a backup of 800k baht method in mind.

Now, just praying that the 65k baht in a Thai bank method doesn't prove problematic. 800k baht method doesn't seem a very good option now.

Of course there's always the agency route as a backup......

How would the agent method work now?

       65K ,  a  mounth approx £2600,  a retired  civil servants pension , no prob .

Out of the  reach , for us on working class pensions.

I am at a loss , last month i did my yearly ,showing 800,000 in a Thai bank , a week after i took out 100,000 as i did not want to transfer at that time so now i have 700,000 in my bank ,what happens when i do my 90 day , nothing was said to me , and in future does that mean you will have to keep the 800k in for 6 months 3 before 3 after .

Sympatise with  you  mate, i done  the same thing , nothing wrong last mounth.

Now ,  a rule  change , starting next mounth , puts us in trouble .

LOS, land of suprises.  What next ?.

    So it would effectively lock in the 800,000 - some retirees are able to use that money for a large portion of the year. {quote }

Some retirees, were  able  to use that money.  That is the thinking behind , this new hurdle.

A good  earner for the  agents , farang  pays for the  dodgey D visa , every three mounths . TAT

A cremation in Thailand would be a lot cheaper and simpler than flying a body back to the UK. In fact it could even be cheaper than a burial in the UK.

Why all this talk of a GoFundMe campaign.

I do not want to live in the UK, while i am alive and kicking.

I certainly dont want to be returned to the UK , the price of funerals there. RIP

The problem I see with the above is that immigration need the agents to facilitate their countrymen and ease the path to immigration's back door, I for one would not be brazen enough to ask outright of an immigration official if they were up for a backhander !! Would you :stoner:

No need  to  ask , any problems , i use the  discreet sittang on the table method ,

quicker, and more cost effective .

Sadly with the  demise of the gbp,  it is becoming the  option of many expats in LOS.

It may be so for you bro', but IMO the plan is to get all overstayers out and then deal with the poorer farangs.

Luckily I'm using an agent (OK for now) but for most, it'll be 'bye bye farang - don't come back'.

Only a matter of time bro,,  i know the feeling , i am on a dodgy , type D visa .

               Another sleepless night .555

Well you'd hope just about every bit of bad news has already been factored into the GBPeso exchange rate, so any sort of final curtain to Brexit should be met with relief and something of a recovery.

The bounce back will be bigger if the UK eventually ends up remaining, a hard Brexit might see an initial bounce followed by further falls. But in the long run, once all the dust has settled, whichever way the UK goes the exchange rate will recover.

Presently it's the uncertainty, markets don't like uncertainty.

Once the dust has settled , ha ha ,

Google the five year forecast for gbp / thb ,,  35 bht.

Thanks those who voted , for brexit.
