What visa are using for your stays?

Unless you need to have interaction with immigration you would not require a TM30.

Sounds that you are also not doing 90 day reports.

Is your 4 month stays continuous in Thailand.

Staying for 90 days on a non O imm. so no interaction with Immigration anticipated. Previous 4 month stays have been with non O + border hop.

  2. We have rented various houses for periods upto 4 months for several consecutive years. We have never registered a TM30 at IM essentially because all the landlords were farangs with Thai wife and living in their native countries. I’m assuming this arrangement will continue. What are the potential consequences of this?

  3. A fair level of IT know how is needed to complete the online application. For example to be able to resize files to less than 3mb. But to be fair to the London Embassy, in my application the file for my bank statement wasn’t acceptable as it needed to show both my name & address, they emailed me asking me to resubmit by email, which I did and the visa was approved within a couple of days.

Have you checked those flights availability and cost.

Thinking land border bounce would be better option.

I believe Air Asia are restarting HH to KL flights which we used pre-covid. Cost manageable as we enjoy our mini-holiday in KL. However, haven’t been able to find any flights as yet. Re: land border, is the Kanchanaburi border open now? Otherwise is the plan viable? Thanks for your response doc.

  5. We are planning to stay in Thailand for 3 months next year, with the permission to stay for visa exempt entry recently extended to 45 days until 31st March. I would be grateful if the usual suspects could do a sense check on the following.

Arrive BKK from UK early January, enter visa exempt. Stay in Hua Hin for 44 days then fly HH to KL, stay for 2 or 3 days then return to HH, again entering on visa exempt. 44 days later (early April) fly back to UK. Assuming Air Asia still fly to KL are there any pitfalls with this plan? Cheers.

You would first apply for a non-o visa at your local immigration office.

    Requirements are here. https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 days from the visa you could apply for a one year extension.

I’m only looking to stay for 3 months. If I travel with a 60 day tourist visa, (intending to obtain a 30 days extension) would the fact that my return flight is after 89 days affect my ability to enter Thailand?

  7. What they are talking about is no quick fix. It’s a generational & cultural shift within the entire Thai society and educational system. Does this align with the best interests of the Thai elite? Not in the the short or medium term were mushroom management (keep them in the dark and feed them sh!t) maintains the status quo. In the long term they’re shooting themselves in the foot but of course by then they’ll not be of this world. At every level Thailand is in the category of “special needs”. Basically it’s a basket case and the world is simply going to move on without them.

  8. Predictable reaction from the posters on here but as someone staying here during the first 4 months of 2020 I thought the Thai governments initial response in comparison to Europe & US was exemplary - mandated mask wearing,  early club & bars shutdown, temperature taking at shops and on the highways, stopping incoming flights etc. However I have to accept that the pandemic management from 2021 to date has been an absolute clusterf##k. What can you say - TIT!

It's an irrelevance to the subject you and I started  discussing

THIS IS WHAT YOU SAID TO START: "Not until they’ve opened up the knocking shops, in my experience Saudis only travel for one thing (+booze). "

Read what YOU wrote and understand why I disrespected your immature comment and tried to force you into a grown up discussion

I tried to elevate the discussion to real issues pertinent to the economic development  of the two countries which  include sigh: banking, commerce, airlines, steel and other industries including securities, stocks, investments  finance, construction, security/military etc

This is realpolitik not vacuous comments about booze.

As for your cowwuption concerns: that's no reason to continue another 30 years Saudi/Thai boycott which incidentally  did not end corruption in either country,  did it?

A lot of newbies here don't understand  that up till 1990 Thailand  and KSA had close economic  ties to their mutual benefit.  That's going to  happen  again. Thailand and the Thai  people will benefit from a new era of shared economic  development  and yes a few Saudi shabab will get robbed by LBs,  ripped off and battered in Bangkok just  like old times! lol

Can’t share your optimism about future mutual benefit. Reading other reports it appears the main discussion was, surprise surprise, around the supply of cheap Thai labour. Saudi Arabia is a despicable regime which has no interest in the concept of “mutual benefit” and to suggest that the Thai people will benefit is frankly laughable. A few Hi-So’s maybe, but to think this will cascade down is naive. Regarding my original post. I’ve met a few Saudi tourists(which is what I was appertaining to) in Bangkok over the years and believe me, in most cases my comment was far from irrelevant. I don’t normally generalise but they really are vile men.

I'm afraid corruption is grown up. It happens. You just thought  about Saudi shabab getting drunk as the only outcome of the new relationship  between  Thailand  and KSA. That's childish.

This is realpolitik not vacuous comments about booze or irrelevancies about corruption. Yes I have had dealing with Saudis and Iranians and Kuwaitis and Afghans and Libyans for over 40 years. That's why I have a more nuanced overview of the recent  news than you  do.

So in your view corruption is an irrelevance.. Happily I don’t share your moral compass.
