  1. Sorry but if you get bite by a dog you do not get left with a bruise. You get teeth marks and very likely some blood will be spilt.

So maybe this mans 6 yr old son wasn't telling the truth.

    <snip>

Who said the dog had teeth?

I would wonder why a child would lie about such an incident.

The father had enough 'mental age' to protect his son from a very likely future attack by the dog.

Some years ago a neighbours' feral brats would hide behind a wall and think it great fun to jump out on my dog when I was exercising it. They (the brats) would also come up to my gate to tease it, make it bark. Morons. One evening, the entire tribe turned up with the katoey-in-the making youngest brat pointing at an tiny bruise on the brat's arse accusing my dog biting it. Of course the brat, who never stopped screaming it's guts out all day long, had sustained a minor injury whilst playing with his elder brother on a building site opposite their house, but the idiot family thought they'd make some money off the 'farang'. They'd even called out the local cops who agreed with me it didn't look like a dog bite and they were very possibly chancing their arm. This was 10 years ago and I've never acknowledged them since.

My advice is to keep your underage brats inside. Who knows? It could be a pedophile/white slave trader next time. With a bit of luck.

  2. Theres a couple of stray dogs living in the bush next to my moo baan. Been there for years and never had babies. Never a problem. Then some people thought they had to be fed and brought them food everyday. So kind. Then the dogs realised they had a reliable supply of food they had puppies. End result? The group doubled in size and became a problem that had to be solved......

    Rather like humans then.

  3. I remember going to the LTO for either a vehicle transfer or licensing issue. I was wearing 'long' shorts, over the knee with cargo pockets, clean sport shoes and a shirt probably a short sleeved collar but possibly a T shirt, this was years back so hard to remember. It was clean, respectable, tidy clothing.

One of the bosses there flipped out.. No shorts, cannot.. really shouting and raving.. Eventually I did get service but was told absolutely never return if not in long trousers and next time no service.

Total over the top flip out based on some dress code that was never published and I really dont see I was in violation of.. Not wifebeater or short shorts.

I always insist visitors wear long trousers just to go into town, so you were in the wrong turning up at a government office wearing cargo pants. How long have you been here?

  4. I think hidden forces are pushing and pulling, with the tourists in the middle, these entities have long forgotten or never realised that it was the tourists who made them rich in the beginning.

It seems in their nature to watch it all fall apart while they squabble.

I think you're way too paranoid. 'hidden forces'. Christ.

  5. Information about renewing passports in Thailand can be found here:

    http://www.thailand.embassy.gov.au/bkok/Consular_P2.html

I don't know if it can be lodged with the new Honorary Consul in Phuket, perhaps someone capable of making a call for him can find out.

Thanks for the effort, but I've already accessed that link and it doesn't make clear the actual address my neighbour must go to on PHUKET and with what. The consular has changed to a Canadian woman. Where, he isn't sure. The Thai girl said something about the office being on the bypass road. From that which I've seen, it isn't clear how the fee is paid and to whom. His app for a marriage extension falls shortly after the expiration of his passport. I'd advised he sort his pp first in order to stymie any avoidable problems with transferring his 'new' visa. And so, if anyone has recently been through this with the Canadian consul, address and advice as to how and when payment is required would be appreciated.

  6. The solution to this is so incredibly simple and it fixes issues on both sides. Allow Thai vendors to have beach chairs and umbrellas for rent, but they are not to be placed on the beach until the tourist rents them. This gives some money back to Thai vendors and allows a convenient way for tourists to be able to lay on the beach with or without an umbrella and without having to drag their own beds down to the beach.

The authorities are just not using their heads. Allowing Thai vendors to do it the old way takes up way too much room on the beach with chairs that ARE NOT rented and it made the beaches look totally unnatural and ugly. Thai authorities need to go take a look at other beaches around the world and see what works.

The solution to this sounds incredibly simple but the vendors won't stick to it. The authorities know this, hence the scorched earth policy. Who knows the Thai mindset better than another Thai? Certainly not the farang.

Let the tourists sit on mats under the Casuarina trees, same as the locals. Who gives a stuff about them anyway.

  7. My Oz neighbour needs to renew his passport. I told him as far as I knew, he could do it on Phuket. He called the consular's office and was told by a Thai girl 'it take twenty minutes'. My Oz neighbour is confused. Has anyone been through this process recently? I told him I'd ask here. My Oz neighbour seriously needs to enter the 21st century and have access to the internet. How anyone gets by without it in this day and age beggars belief.

Thanks for any advice I can pass on to him.

  8. If she is indeed moving assets off shore then surely that raises some suspicion. especially now given the timing.

She is not innocent in this, her negligence and failings as a leader make her responsible for not making sure things were kosher on her watch.

A Pm isn't an entry level position, and her performance alone shows that she wasn't cut out for it, yet the taxpayer foots the bill for the incompetence and yet she still plays the victim & expects privilege from courts, other govts and lackeys who are expendable at best. Absolute scum

That was most certainly not the intention behind her being effectively installed by her fugitive brother.

  9. Given the 'things to do' mentioned Simon's right then, isn't he. Big Buddha, couple of hours, most of which spent climbing the hill, Bangla Road, not everyone's cup of tea, is it, a ladyboy show and a cabaret. Wow. But I'm sure you'll be back with a 'well what an earth else do you want, given the exciting and abundant entertainments here?' As is your wont.

Did you read the other posts, in which many, many other things to do were mentioned?

I must say though your post does not make much sense to me, what is your point, question, whatever?

And there you go. Okay, the last word goes to you, again.

  10. Where exactly did Detective Inspector Simon43 say there is ‘nothing’ to do? coffee1.gif

As for his alleged ignorance, well, seeing as he appears to have identified a business model that keeps him afloat whilst others (in the same market) struggle harder than an old clapped whore on Bangla, I would hardly describe him as just another deluded inmate who’s gone a wee bit age-crazy. As a frequent visitor to Lalaland I read his observations as well observed and note he doesn’t need to resort to lame insults to make his point. Take note, Sir.

Quote from Simon "Back on-topic, many of my guests ask the very fundamental question 'What does Phuket have to offer?'

Well, IMHO, the answer is not much!

I suggest visiting the Big Buddha, Bangla Road, Simon's Cabaret, Phuket Fantasy. Apart from that.. hmmm."

II did not call Simon ignorant, I said with regards to the mentioned activities he brushes of f too easily, possibly (or probably, I don't exactly recall) based on ignorance of the mentioned activities. Somebody claiming divers are moving from Phuket to Koh Tao obviously does not know much about that subject.

And maybe Simon's guests are typically not interested in any of the mentioned activities, including beaches, but that does not mean Phuket does not have them on offer nor that Chinese in general are not interested in them.

  11. Selective amnesia - look at the headlines from a year ago.

The headlines from this time last year were mostly about one of the most corrupt politicians in Thai history marching around Bangkok to "fight corruption."

They were then (like now) often pointing to the minority of the population dictating the majority, as the PDRC thugs brought down democracy through terror.

Finally back then (as now) the biggest proponents on TV of this were pensioners living in issan, married to former sex workers. Seems little has changed.

What 'terror'? Compare and contrast with 2010 whereby rockets were launched at Sala Daeng and gas tankers set on fire. Hyperbole much? And no, I am most certainly not a 'pensioner living in Issan'.

  12. Just to throw in a few names to establish some perspective here: Chalerm, Plodsaprop, Snoh, hands up who wants that shower back. Forget Barbie, she's an airhead nobody, but a rather effective New Face of Taksinism.

Not sure what you want to say but putting into perspective all those you mentioned are legitimate elected MPs. Now to put that into current perspective, none in the government are elected. Now that is a face of militarism.

What I want to spell out is that that this is the caliber of 'elected' cabinet members Thailand would be stuck with in perpetuity if PTP had been allowed on it's untrammeled way.

I don't believe for one moment all the hysteria about the junta or their alleged appointees being able to turn Thailand into N.Korea II. The World has moved on. Citizens are able to access social media and the fact that protests are reduced to a few students eating sandwiches shows the overwhelming majority understand Taksin and his megalomaniac money grubbing ways had to be stopped.

However I also believe he should have been left to implode, as he surely would have done back in 2006 when his popularity was at an all time low. An opportunity lost. Thailand is balancing itself out. Hard lessons hopefully learned.

  13. He said the European Union delegation to Thailand that had criticised the detention of civilians by military courts on Friday should try to understand that Thailand needs to maintain martial law in order to steer the Kingdom towards "full democracy" under the roadmap.

Whats "Full Democracy" then , I thought we already had that up until May last year

There was as much democracy under the previous incumbents as there is now. The PTP applied the rule of law to suit themselves only. Posters forget the public being effectively barred from meetings on local issues such as waterways et al if it didn't suit the PTP's, namely Plodsaprop's, vested interests. There's a special place in hell for him and his Chiang Mai zoo animal restaurant and 'If you don't vote for us we will withhold government funding' and 'protesters are garbage' speeches.

As to 'full democracy', there's either democracy or not, same with 'truth'. Both concepts appear to be alien to the Thai psyche.

  14. she's just a total lier and crook and front for Taksin his crew and resort robbing Thialnd blind. I really hope she and many rot for a long time or for ever in Jail

    All total scumbags

and for those who posted I'm full of hate yes i hate what Taksin she and rest have done ansi hate way poor are taken in totally by them

Just because she looks good does not mean she's not as evil as Pol pot Mugabwie Saddam or any of them

Wake up Taksin forang worshipers and admit you are and were totally misguided pathetic naive useful idiots as Stalin said

What on earth are you ranting about. Thaksin akin to Stalin? You are demeaning the people who suffered at the Stalin's hands.

Incredible view of the world you have.

Admittedly this poster is given to hyperbole but the fact remains that Yingluck is guilty of gross negligence at best and mass and systemic corruption at best.

I do wonder if this were not an attractive woman, and a very wealthy one at that, whether those posters would be so sympathetic to her plight. Here's an experiment for you. Superimpose Samak's or Somchai's face over hers' in every photo op and get back to us.

  15. The general will have to get in line with all the others who stated they warned Ms Yingluck and her government before him and publicly, while it was ongoing. He's a little late to the party, IMO.

I believe you are missing the very salient point that he is the only one in a position to bring her to justice, under the current circumstances. Good. Someone has to.

  16. BAN plastic bags for starters. Trigger-happy 7-11 is a major contributor. Would you like that bag of chips and bottle of water double-bagged and a couple of straws to go, sir. whistling.gif

A few years ago 7/11 announced with pomp and ceremony it would no longer issue plastic bags. I believe that lasted just one day. The only other outlet which has stuck rigidly to not packing plastic bags is just one Tesco outlet in my main soi. However, every other Tesco outlet packs double. No consistency, much like their stupid banking system.

I had noticed a huge increase in plastic bags floating in the otherwise pristine (no tourists) sea in Rawai Phuket. I do find it odd that Thailand, an innovator in eco friendly packaging in the form of sugar cane bi products, are still unable to replace the mountain of plastic here.
