  5. As this is now not just a Thailand forum I want to know who has retired to other Asian Countries and either happy or sad there? Anyone here in the Philippines who has or had picked Dumamagette, seems to be the number 1 retirement area for farangs . Anyone picked Cambodia to retire ,I know a guy from my work last year who retired at 63 to Siem Reap but I wasn't close to him so lost contact Strangely Bali seems to becoming popular with Australian retirees Tell me where you chose to finish out your life or you tried and it wasn't to your pleasure
  6. These were 3 young Maori guys drunk on a train hit me with their shoulders for no reason walking past ..I didn't say anything to them but I need to br ready next time
  7. Watching all this social media I see videos of people being attacked in the street. Bystanders do nothing . I don't want to be a statistic, please suggest a martial art for me ,I'm 62yo relatively fit Is Krav Maga any good? Or judo for my age ?
  8. Not sure where that is but I take it those Suburbs are similar to Sydney's Mount Druitt?
  9. Now I'm in my 60's my time left is far more valuable, Last week I went to visit my nephew in jail, I hadn't seen him for years . 36yo been in and out of jail for years ,now his longest stint. I look at him all tattooed up ,acting like a teenager,at the end of every sentence he is calling me "bro or "brah" He tells me too he wants to go live in Asia when he "retires" He hasn't got a cent to his name never worked in his life I finally get sick of it and I say to him , your wasting time ,wasting your life ! You haven't got a house ,no money nothing ! And now I fast forward to walking in a Department government housing area this morning that is just near my place It has two large condo buildins here in Australia over 500 apartment highrise full of old age pensioners and disability people paying low rent for these government apartments. I stroll around the estate park, and they all go for morning walks sine look like ex druggies ,old hippies, some driving those mobility scooters and many in their 60's on walking sticks looking very old. I think <deleted> where the F did these people go wrong to live in this awful government housing block ? They must of wasted their life . Did you or are you wasting your life ?
  10. There is a few in the Boyztown area
  11. I guess it depends which part you went to? Dumaguete is nice , Boracay , Palawan
  12. I was there last month, glad to get out ! Traffic nightmares , hard to walk anywhere, agressive beggars , small expensive walking street
  13. Yes but more to do in Bangkok, less traffic, less crime Manila can be expensive,BGC area, expensive shopping malls. Fast food restaurants more expensive, cannot find a lot of street food like Bangkok
  14. I guess they come from the UK ? Your right though,
  15. Having just spent 6 weeks there travelling I find the people not friendly, compared to thai people.., all taxi drivers had scowls on their faces, people pushed on the decripit SkyTrain if you could call it that. Rubbish on streets left
  16. Try Sydney in Australia, Sydney Water charges me $183 per quarter !!!!
  17. Unfortunately I invested in travel stocks just before Covid Flight Centre,Webjet etc ????????
  18. He is non homeowner,BUT I'm not sure of the Australian law in regards to superannuation accounts and drawing from them. On another note my flight Centre shared went down $1 each today !!
  19. The only thing is he must go back for 2 years before claiming !
  20. What's your lifestyle like? So you only go out a few times a month, what do you do the rest of the time?
  21. He will have to go back eventually to Australia to claim the pension, that's the only way I see it. And why not ? If you paid your taxes all your life you deserve the aged pension!!! Even if he curbs his spending , his superannuation of 500k Australian won't be enough! No idea what he done with his money all his life, said he was a bus driver apparently, never owned a house in Australia just rented his working life but I gathered he was a monger all his life, booze ,women in Brazil & Philippines , but who can blame him .he had a good life I guess Managed to save 580k super ,retired at 64 ,now 65 he has 520k AUD left to last him another 15-20 years But 140,000 b a year on insurance ????
  22. Well he had the super account on his phone ,yes showed anyone that would listen He doesn't want to go back to Australia for 2 years to qualify the pension, unfortunately Australia has a law that you must reside in Australia 2 years before claiming for the old age pension at 67yo so just wants to live off his 500k Australian money, and not go back ,whether he can is anyone's guess but I gathered he was lonely so continually hired the same girls from the go Go bars He is 65yo,he retired with 580k AUD in January 2021 when he was 64yo, No house in Australia or assets, He has 520k left , I saw the balance , actually 516k Australian to be exact, scared it won't last he kept saying. He was thinking of seeing a financial advisor He spent 60k (Australian money) last year i because he as he said was entertaining 3-4 girls per night in his room! Along with barfining taking girls to overseas countries such as Phillipines & Cambodia Interesting he said he has to budget 140,000 baht a year for health insurance Can he live in Pattaya the next 25 years without going for the old age pension, probably not I guess he is lonely .
  23. Met a Aussie guy yesterday in a Pattaya bar, wouldn't stop talking but he was interesting. He was 65yo newly retired to Pattaya showed me his Superannuation balance 520k AUD , he was continually worried this won't last him until his death , apparently spend 60k AUD last year in Pattaya alone !!
  24. I'm particularly interested in single older males who live below 50k a month or say yearly 600k. That's what the Australian government pension is give or take Now I'm in Pattaya now , I worked out I need at least 80k a month Groceries are expensive here, going to bars drinking, massage everyday etc , impossible to live on a government pension!! Now doesn't matter if your in Pattaya, Udon Thani, CM, Angeles city , I just want to know do you rarely exceed 50k Thai baht per month ? Is it possible? What's your lifestyle like? Where do you live? How do you budget , obviously no going to go Go bars everyday, but as a expat do you really that way inclined to go to go go bars ?
  25. So yesterday afternoon in the hotel I'm staying at here in Thailand, I walked down to the pool area to sit in the shade on a banana bed. On arriving I saw a family of a couple and their children, a couple ,husband maybe in his 40's and their I presume 4 children, 2 boys around 10yo & 2 girls a little bit older, seemed to be from the UK,heavily tattoed I noticed So on arriving I just caught the tail end of a conversation the British man was having with a younger farang man who were sitting nearby. This is what I heard " no mate , we can't have it here we have kids mate,so off you go ! I automatically thought these he was smoking told them not him not do it in front of his kids so he left without a fight to the older British guy who was using hand sweeping motions to guide the Farang to the pool exit but of course I found out later that be the was single farang the lady mother didn't want him nearby So I sat down on the other side of the pool, only them & me were at the pool side , for some reason their kids decided to come around my side ,I'm laying in the banana chair shade ,and then they started jumping & diving in the pool splashing water over me, I looked up to see the British tattoed guy sitting on the other side staring straight at me. I continued to lay there until the kids diving in water got over me so I moved further back and fully clothed into the sun. Next thing the kids are running around my banana chair chasing each other And the parents of course didn't seem to care . So I got up ready to leave, when I heard the fat tattoed wife approach, as I was leaving and walking off she said words to me to the point , " there is minors here ",you can't sit there . Silly me for some reason,I guess I didn't want a argument just left without another word. But just about 2 hours ago I'm on the hotel balcony which overlooks the swimming pool when I look down to see the same family arguing with a older East European guy ,who was lounging in his briefs , the lady is saying the same thing to him with her British thug husband also appeared to be arguing about she was saying ,there's minors here !!! Now as I walk thru the hotel lobby he & her are talking to I presume the hotel manager about " pedephiles" Now my point is where can we draw the line at being single males and being pointed as some pedophile because a group of minors in their words are playing nearby? I recall about 5 years ago in Australia a guy went to his local park to eat his lunch and school children were nearby and he was asked to leave by a council ranger because the teachers complain even though it's a public park. The second story I read last week was a Japanese tourist was being looked for by police in the blue mountains of Sydney because he had allegedly approached a 14yo boy to ask for directions? So where do you draw the line of being accused of being a pedophile?
