Excellent piece on the state of our parliament from the FT
The FT is not a comic for the lumpen. nevertheless it should be read and inwardly digested by all who have a real interest in politics

I am an anti Islamist bigot.
But I abhor this atrocity in New Zealand.
I also have no time for white supremacists wherever they are
It was a disastrous decision for George W and his poodle Tony Blair to invade Iraq. As a direct result, we have never ending war in the Middle East with zero benefit to the Western World.
Trump continues to be an embarrassment to everyone. This atrocity in NZ was an act of pure terrorism. How long before some Islamic terrorist nutter walks into a church and murders 50 Christians in cold blood? Do we even know what religion this white supremacist claims to hold?
I am a bigot because of the failure of Muslims to integrate into my home country, the UK. I am far happier with EU immigration than to have hoards of Muslims coming in. That makes me s bigot. I can live with that. But I do not hate Muslims; I just want them to integrate rather more and avoid creating ghettos in the UK. No need for unpleasantness. No need for moronic yobbos like Tommy Robinson et al.
Frankly, our American cousins must Shoulder a good share of responsibility. Please, stay home and stop destabilising the world.
I want social media to be compelled by law to stop broadcasting hate. If necessary shut them down. In fact use this as an excuse to shut them down.

Moves are afoot to de-select Remain MPs in leave constituencies around the country and quite rightly so. I have no idea if it applies the other way round but wouldn't have a problem if it did.
Then we should change the constitution.
Right now we have s representative democracy the acts as a moron filter. It has worked well for centuries.
You want to directly instruct MPs? Why have them at all? We have the technology to enable this. Vote directly on everything! "Computer says no"
I blame poor education
I do hope that any MP that is threatened in this way resigns from the local party AND crosses the floor ????

No, once people have voted, they cannot change their minds at a later date .
If people vote , they cannot go back a few years later and ask for their vote to be changed , once they've voted, thats it
What a silly comment

Yes, standing down because his constituents didnt want him to represent them because he failed to deliver what they wanted and voted for.
He is not resigning as an MP. He is not resigning the CON whip. He has resigned from the local CON association. Good.
We WANT MPs of conviction. MPs who will vote according to what they genuinely believe to be best for all their constituents and their country.
The man is an exemplar for the role of MP in a parliamentary representative democracy.
It is shameful that so many of you don't see this?

Boles is a winker.
Maybe, but he is a "winker" of conviction. He is an example of how MPs should act. Note he is still taking the CON whip. I think it's great how he has handled the local CONs! Publically poured their G&Ts over their perms.????
Threatening to deselect a sitting MP for their opinions. Shameful. They selected the man, threatening deselection 3 years before the next election is nothing more than bullying.

Very true - and neither does anyone else as the calculations have never been published.....
Edit - Which is more than a bit odd. As you point out, 39 bn is one hell of a lot of money and so needs to be fully explained!

And precisely how would you describe Osborne's promised 'punishment budget' - that was proven to be an outright lie?
It became unnecessary because of quick action by the BoE to slash interest rates even though the GBP was collapsing and massive QE.

Good man, Nick Boles! An MP with conviction!
His local party chairman is the quintessential gammon! Good for nothing except sausage meat.

I wasnt in the UK at the time and I dont know what most Brexiters thought .
BTW , how do you know what 8 million people were thinking ?
Was there some kind of questionnaire or something or is this another Alexrich "Most voters assumed the first priority would be a trade deal" kind of thing .
( Its in quotation marks, so, someone must have said it )
What has become increasingly obvious is that a majority of the electorate didn't even know what they are for breakfast. Frankly, universal suffrage is overrated

You seriously think voters wanted BRINO, plus paying 39bn for the privilege?
Having said this, no doubt another known poster will be along soon to pretend that leave posters have never given any reason for why they are against the eu/may deal....
You have absolutely no idea what the 39 billion is for have you? You think this country agrees to hand over money for nothing? It's not housekeeping money.

2 . The Money that we give to the E.U. and they tell us what to spend it on, we can take control of our own money .
3 . That was a prediction about future negotiations

5 Dont understand what "uge" means
6 , We would
Yes , please do "update " me
1) European migration is now 1/5 migration from Africa and Asia. Happy now?
2) You think our "government" will be as philanthropic and socially sensitive as the EU? Ask Cornwall
3) No. They deceived the electorate that new trade deals would be easy
4) Not after the referendum they weren't. ERG backed away from Single market within 24 hours of the vote.
5) You've never heard Donald Trump? You missed the apostrophe; 'uge.
6) We never lost sovereignty. This was admitted by May in 2016.
I won't bother updating you. You are beyond educating and ungrateful when someone tries to inform you.

You stated "lies" were told and I am asking you what "lies" were told .
The big lie told was that the referendum result would be enacted upon .
We voted to leave , the Gov voted against leaving .
The vote was to leave , not to leave with any agreements .
The Gov should have followed the will of the voters and voted to leave without any agreements
Leaving with no deal was NEVER mentioned

I wasnt in the UK at the time so I may have missed them, but , what were the promises made ?
(Please dont mention THAT bus , that wasnt a promise , it was a suggestion )
So, what are the "promises" made to secure Brexiters vote that were never kept ?
Here's a few
1) We would gain control of our borders
2) We would control our money
3) Trade deal would be easy including rolling over existing EU negotiated deals
4) Norway or Switzerland deals were possible templates
5) 'uge USA deal
6) we would regain Our sovereignty
Do you want me to update you?
