  1. Time to give Phuket autonomy?

"Phuket Aims To Become Autonomous Administration", By Thai Newsroom Reporters, Posted on November 19, 2023.

    • "The tourist island province has been well-prepared to upgrade itself as an autonomous administration following suit of Bangkok and Pattaya.
    • The city mayor said he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin next January to put forward the island’s autonomy scheme."

Now April 2024. With autonomy Phuket doesn't need a 'tourist court.'

The reasons made them do not want to serve the military are varied. Some fear losing career opportunities or salary, while others worry about what they have to face during training.

    There are other fears.

It appears that the RTM and the current pro-military political coalition are afraid of progressive voting youths and rely on conscription to control their political perspectives.

Skint Idiots, and there are many of them.

    Traveling on a budget.

And those who don't read their policy coverage, restrictions and disallowances. Having to purchase Thai government health insurance for entry should pre-empt questions of applicability as the Thai government becomes the guarantee, however, may have exceptions such as injury in connection with commission of a crime.

By International law, this is a standard, but I guess you don't know that either.

Please cite that law and whether Thailand is bound by it. International "laws" require a nation's ratification to accept responsibility and compliance with such "laws", ie., the Geneva Convention, UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1951 Refugee Convention.

  5. Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital is also a possibility, ie., even if for a second opinion. Check their web site. Both Bumrungrad and Samitivej accept certain foreign medical insurances that substantially cut your out of pocket costs. For some foreign policies, 100% coverage for in-patient care.

They were taken to the Ao Nang Police Station to face charges of working without permission.

What about their employers also be charged? Or is there no law that they violate by hiring foreigners without work permits  - and knowingly. Did these foreigners just sneak in to these establishments and begin to work without any Thai employer awareness?

The various jobs related especially to the entertainment industry are filled by the owners who surely must know requirement that foreigners need work permits. I don't see how recent reported foreigners being arrested for lack of work permits that otherwise require Thai employer pre-approval be able to work without employer knowledge.

Without arresting Thai employers, the work permit system is a scam on foreigners.

However, travellers on Rama II Road should be prepared for delays and consider alternative routes where possible.

I've know the area before construction began and haven't seen much in the way of traffic delays in Rama II Road in Bang Khun Thian area due to this construction. The construction activities themselves appear to be very controlled and confined with minimal interference with public traffic. Albeit, I would have preferred a light rail system that would be more pollution free but it can't carry cargo.

I see it in Bangkok everyday.

Big truck needs to pull out wide then cut left across the lanes of the traffic to turn into a small soi. A motorbike or car speeding up their lane has no chance. You've got to be on your toes to not smash into the back of the car in front that has had to suddenly stop in the middle of the lane.

Also consider in turning to the left, the driver sits on the right side of the truck. Even with left side mirrors it would be difficult to see a motorbike close to the truck.

Nevertheless, they also conveyed understanding towards China, as the submarine construction was reported to be halfway complete.

Unless China finds a substitute buyer for that sub, Thailand is going to have to make major concessions to retract its sub purchase without loss of its massive payments.

Meanwhile: "In 2012 the RTN bought the SCTT (Submarine Command Team Trainer) simulator from Rheinmetall. Delivered in 2014 and now operating at Sattahip Naval Base, it simulates generic systems and capabilities of diesel-electric submarines." https://www.shephardmefia.com

So a whole submarine command operating for nine years, submarine downpayment and annual installnents made, only to get frigates instead? RTN competence and waste of Treasury funds need review (hint: MFP next House session).
