  1. i forgot to mention this...

i have 3 visa exempt stamps from sept 14 onwards

and a single entry tourist visa from vietnam

after the visa from vietnam expired, i did a visa run to laos.

i extended the tourist visa from vietnam and extended the double entry from laos once

Are you talking about what you got in 2014 or what you have recently received in 2015?

i am talking about how my previous visas and exempt stamps will impact me getting the new visa double entry in laos in a few days

    • You should be ok for a second double entry visa from Vientiane. The worst that is likely to happen is that they limit you to one entry.
    • You will have no problem with Laos immigration.
    • If you have a valid tourist visa you should have no problem with Thai immigration.
    • No idea about the photos.

I think i will be okay getting the 2nd visa from Vientiane, but you never know. If they refuse double and just do single, i will say no thanks and try Savanakhet.

  2. I am leaving a in a few days to get my double entry visa in Vientiane, Laos.

First, this will be my 2nd straight visa from Vientiane...any problems?

Second, will I have any problems with Lao immigration because I have 2 previous Lao visas... all with the same border - Nong Khai. And same with Thai immigration any problem with them for exiting and re-entering (with visa) ... i have also done this same trip 2 times before and this is my 3rd time. Nong Khai to Vientiane.

Basically, will there be a problem with Laos or Thailand because I have done this border crossing 2 times previously and this will be my 3rd time.

And finally, I had a single visa photo and wanted to get more, so went to a kodak store and they scanned my photo. However, the scanned photos have a yellowish tint while the original is white and looks clear. Will using the scanned photos be a problem at the border and with the Thai consulate? They're on regular photo paper and glossy and clear, just looks a little strange wink.png

    Thanks!

  3. I had read reports that the visa could only be applied for in your country of residence. However, the MORE i read, it seems that you can actually apply for the visa at all Thai consulates worldwide - regardless if you're a resident of that country.

For example, an Aussie can still apply in Laos and Malaysia etc...

Once you have the visa, which will cost 5000b, you can stay in Thailand 6 months. Does this mean every 60 days, I can just go to Mae Sae and activate the next 60 days, or must I leave for a longer period of time. If I can leave and return the same day, that basically gives me 3 60 day entries. Not bad, really. And you could probably extend the last entry for 30 days (right? not sure). All in all, if you can apply for the visa worldwide, it's not so bad. Assuming you can do border runs in/out same day and extend the last entry.

Will there be a limit on how many you get in a row? Will my previous tourists visas count against me if I apply for this visa.

  4. i want to hear about Laos and their policies on the double entry visa. I know they're likely to do away with it...and will have to pay 5,000baht for a 6 month visa. By the way, how many entries does the METV have? If you can do border runs to Mae Sae, and stay 6 months, then it's not so bad. Won't have to pay for the 1900b visa extension.

anyway, i think a lot of people will be going to laos on Nov 13 or before to do the 2 entry visa

  5. From the Los Angeles Thai Embassy: http://www.thaiconsulatela.org/service_visa_detail.aspx?link_id=78

Thailand launches the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) scheme

On 28 July 2015, the Thai Government launched the “Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV)” scheme. This new scheme, published in the Royal Gazette on 14 September 2015, is an addition to the already existing sixty (60) days tourist visa, and will be effective from 13 November 2015 onwards.

The METV is available to tourists of all nationalities. Applicants can apply for the METV at all Thai Embassies, Consulates-General as well as Honorary Consulates worldwide. The application fee is 5,000 THB, with a visa validity of six (6) months and the duration of stay of up to sixty (60) days per visit.

The METV is hoped to boost Thailand’s tourism industry, bring increased revenue into the country and help prepare Thailand for the ASEAN Community.

  6. Hey, folks!

    I would like some advice.

My tourist visa is set to expire in about 10 days.

I was going to extend it at the local immigration office, but i am not sure now.

I am hearing things about no more double entry visas. I was planning on going to Laos in Nov. and getting a new 2 entry visa.

However, if the rules have changed, and there are no more 2 entry visas, I think I will have to skip the extension and leave and get the visa before Nov. 13 when the rule is to be enforced.

  7. So, I want to visit Hong Kong once my Thai visa is expired. However, I want to be sure I am allowed to re-enter Thailand after visiting Hong Kong. I have 2 tourist visas back to back and 3 visa exempt stamps from 2014. Will I have a problem coming back to Thailand? And after my 30 days are up on the visa exempt (coming back from HK), can I get another tourist visa in Laos? I have one previously from there.

I want to visit Hong Kong or even Korea but want to make sure I can get visa exempt and then another tourist visa in Laos later on. Thanks!

  8. so, how much do you think tax would be? I know the declared value, but not the shipping cost or insurance info.

What I am mad about, is that some packages are taxed and other are not.

I've had several things shipped to me, but never had this problem.

Nothing is straightforward in Thailand and always up to the person in charge at that moment.

If you enforce, enforce it 100 percent.
