I have no problem with dual pricing.
if their wages were on a par with mine, I might do, …..but they aren’t……so I don’t

I would like to wager that the majority of the complainants are student types, who get discounted heavily in their home countries and expect similar here.
I know that there are certain locations that extract the urine with the pricing, but to me it’s simple. I don’t enter.

Moving on to food, if someone buys food every day from me, of course I am going to offer them better prices than someone I see a few times a year, so again I have no problem with that.

you might be surprised what the 'average Thai' earns. which is 40K a month in Bangkok and Nonthaburi. Increasing the national park rate from 20 to 40 baht would not hurt them one bit.

HEV’s are so… yesterday’s technology. A minuscule 1-2 kWh battery that does practically nothing. If you’re going to buy a HEV, might as well stick with Japanese legacy auto makers, although at the rate their service centres, at least here in CM, are closing and being replaced by Chinese automakers, they might be getting more scarce in and around Surin too.

How many Toyota and Honda dealerships have shut and been taken over by Chinse dealerships?

But let's paint a rosy colour

"Oh I wake up every morning, go for my walk on the nice beach

Then have my $2 big breakfast of bacon eggs and sausages

Then I head to get a $2 foot massage

Then I go to a lovely bar and talk to Roger the dodger  blah blah blah

And wake up....and do it again

And in Australia you will be doing what exactly? Pay 20 bucks at a local cafe for a coffee and bun? Go home and watch the footy? At least your weekly doctor visits will be free 555

Thank you,got intouch with an ecu repair shop in bangkok, said, cannot repair or change the memory chip without the fault codes, the garage says do not have these but will install second hand ecu,45000 baht, so will go along with this. Than you every one. Tom

Another option would be a standalone ecu like haltech. Not sure of the price though. Just go with the second hand one. Good luck.

    Just bumping this up.

My school contract and non-b are due to expire April 30 (WP also)

I'm going to go to the Nonthaburi immigration office next Monday to submit my paperwork for a non-O based on marriage.

My school plans to cancel my WP the same day. I'm concerned that if I have an issue with my paperwork and my WP gets cancelled.

Is it possible to cancel my WP after I have submitted my paperwork for the non-0?  What is the usual procedure?

edit, according my my wife when we visited immigration a week ago,  they told up it should be cancelled that day or the day before applying for the Non-O.

OP - did you not have to obtain an affirmation of freedom to marry document signed and stamped by the Australian Embassy prior to your marriage in 2001? If so, it might be worth your while checking whether they still have this document - although I accept that this could well prove a long shot after so long.

The "single status" documents are apparently only kept for 10 years before they are destroyed. I really don't remember what documents I may have obtained from the Australia embassy at that time. So we will go back to the registration office in Ratchaburi to see what they can do. At the very least, they should provide a document to state that the record no longer exists (once we have all the documents ready, we will approach immigration to check its adequate. The wheels may need a bit of greasing for any missing paperwork, but my wife is fine with that...thai style. lol

    Embassy response yesterday:

Apologies for the incorrect information below.  We misread and thought that you would like to request a document to prove that you are currently single, but we can see now that you have been married since 2001 and therefore the CNI information provided below unfortunately does not apply to your situation.

The Embassy is unable to issue any other document to prove that you were single in the past.  You may wish to convey this message to Thai Immigration again that you have already contacted the Embassy and we had no document or service that is applicable to you in this case.

It's the actual document he is missing, not sure if the Thai IO would care about the date on it, just that he isn't married already in Australia. Either way, it's just a thought about how to appease Thai Immigration.

We will go back the the Ratchaburi office where we originally registered out marriage. We will see what document they provide re: the "single status". It seems a silly requirement, as you cant get a marriage registration if you cant show you were previously unmarried. Going back to the original office was suggested to my HR officer when she later spoke to immigration (she turned up late so she was not there when my wife and I spoke to the officer).

Good luck. The teaching rules are stupid, I would teach English for free for something to do. I might even throw in some Trigonometry on the side.

Well me and another teacher are being let go - we have close to 50 years teaching experience in this school. Basically, we are being replaced with cheaper inexperienced teachers (that's a whole new thread).

We plan to get a letter from the amphur to state the document we need doesn't exist (they are destroyed after 10 years) and a copy of the email stating that they don't provide  letter for my situation. Maybe some addition to their xmas fund will smooth things over (given the paper needed is insignificant in the grad scheme of things).

I got one from the US Consulate. Maybe ask a different person? after 24 years, who keeps that kind of stuff?

Well, the OZ embassy confirmed they won't make a letter for this purpose. I will see what we can do with the amphur, and will also inform immigration that my embassy won't make the letter.

If they don't budge, I can just go on a retirement extension. I had planned to teach again in the future, and thought maybe I could d this on the marriage extension (provided the school was OK with it).

Either way, I'll be at home cleaning the house while my wife it out working:)

You married in Thailand and have a Thai marriage certificate Kor Ror 3?

If yes, then all you need is that certificate, plus a new (issued within last 6 months) Kor Ror2 from the amphur showing you are still married.

I've never been asked for a copy of the original affirmation for marriage. Which immigration office is this?

That's Nonthaburi. Im pretty sure we have the kor ror 3 at home somewhere and can get the kor ror 2. Wife phoned the local amphur already.

  12. Hi all,

I'm Australian and have been on B visa and have been extending on that basis for 20+ Years. I got married in 2001 in Thailand.

Now I need to move to an extension based on marriage, but there is one stumbling block.

I can get 2 of the previous marriage documents from the local ampur office. However, as it was so long ago, the "single status" forms have since been destroyed. This is the form to show you were single and that you can get married. And I need this form as part of my application. Immigration suggested going to the Australia embassy and getting a stat dec? to declare I was single at the time I got married here (in 2001). However, I don't thing the embassy have this service, as this is visa related (according to their website). Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do?

    Thanks...

There's not anything particularly special about such a case.  You simply apply for extension based on marriage to Thai instead of work. You just need to get the requirements for an extension based on marriage so you make sure you can meet those requirements when you apply.
They may require you to formally "cancel" your work extension when it runs out, but they also might just let you apply for the new extension directly without doing so.  That would be the question you would need clarification on from the immigration office. But the actual application is normal.

my visa is valid until 30 April. the WP hasn't been cancelled yet. I will get clarification soon from them.

Did my yearly Marriage Extension today, I felt like a rockstar, the slowest I have ever seen it in there, in-and-out in less than one hour! No appointment, just walked in before 10 am, out by 11am. Didnt even check all our copies against the original documents. I think I am going to go play the lottery today 🙃

Is there a sticky on the paper requirements for changing from extension of stay based on work (B) to marriage (O) on asean now? I need to do that in the next few weeks at the Nonthaburi office. I plan to visit the office with my wife and school's HR officer next week anyway.

  15. Try tyreplus, they sell michelins mainly. Or do you want cheaper tyres. Yes bquik are pricey for the same tire compared to other shops. Are they 15 or 16 inch tires?

you can do a search here. This shop is in nonthaburi and the prices are as good as you will find.

    https://www.tivanon.com/?wfile=tires

toyo cr-1 is a nice tire. soft and quiet. I used them on our swift. But then changed back to pilot sport 4.

  16. As others suggested, just top it up and check it weekly. This is a relatively new car, I would suggest keep up the regular services at the dealer. Its not expensive. For major problems, like a damaged turbo, then find an outside independent nissan garage to deal with it, especailly if the car is out of warranty.

Education is just not taken seriously enough In Thailand.  They say their English Proficiency is poor but no doubt it's the same with other subjects.  It wouldn't surprise me if they're poor in most subjects.

O-net scores have shown a decline over the last decade. Average scores on 4-choice multiple choice tests average 25-35%. So the average student is basically guessing all the answers. Obviously there are a handful of excellent schools here, but the vast majority of the remainder skew the results.

So when EV trucks get over 1000kms between charges? Probably will be a reality in the next 5-10 years. As for me, I would be happy with a 400 km real world range. The Rivian R1T and that weird Tesla truck already have larger payloads than any of the ICE trucks I see on the road here.  They get around 600 km per charge.  They cost a fortune but just saying 🙂

600km on one charge, how about carrying 1000kg in the back? It seems they are more of a recreational vehicle at this time, as opposed to a work vehicle.
