Nothing wrong in making a buck/baht. The problem is when people come and dont bring the money....and stay. I can't fault any conutry/people for not wanting this. If you come, don't expect citizens to support you financially.

Nothing...they were raised in this system and know their place in society. It's normal.

Just now, Robin said:It is not only in Thailand. When you are too old to work for your living, you are expected to die. Most western pension schemes are based on this.
UK pensions are going broke because its citizens will not die soon after retiring.
Australia has i covered...just increase the old age pension age! Either way, I won't qualify for that, and will have to make do on earning, family and other investments.

What about the middle class?
An engineer, technician, policeman, secretary etc. etc
If they're a civil servant they get a nice pension and medical care. Other professionals are likely to have a provident fund or some other kinds of investments (as well as being looked after by family). The nice thing about a civil servant pension is that you can keep working full time after 60 (not for givt though) and still get the full pension.

Why? He will get bail and be out in 24 hours. I highly doubt he will spend any significant time behind bars. We all know how this works.

Has the Pink Line monorail to the Changwattana government complex opened? I saw an article that said test runs started last week but it was unclear if all stations were open or if they would be open on 1 September. It will be nice to avoid the taxi drivers there as well as the horrible traffic in the afternoon.
I live around there. Yes the traffic is terrible int he afternoon, and I wonder why they are still using lanes to park their trucks and store construction equipment. They are slowely opening some parts of some lanes. I saw some testing of a train a month ago, but I have no idea of when it will open, but the openign keeps getting pushed back. Maybe next year or the followin year? There is still a lot of construction to do around Impact (I think I saw a sign saying that is at least 2 years away from being finished. They certainly don't seem in any hurry to finish any of it. Tivanon road is still a mess as well.

Hello,
I have a Mazda 3 with the OEM wheels 205/60 R16. I want to change it to the bigger OEM spec 215/45 R18x7.
I have been to two dedicated rim shops and both told me that R18x7 doesn't exist in the rim after market, just R18x8 or R17x7.5 and I would need 225/45 for those rims.
I want to stick to the OEM specs, can anybody point me to a shop (Bangkok & Pattaya area) or manufacture which provides R18x7 ?
Thanks in advance.
Definitely you can get 17x8 rims. Try some other shops. These are from www.tivanon.com

Why would one..................????
No idea, as the low ride tritons have to low powered motor (unlike the high riders). More "fun" would be the low rider 4 door revo with 200+hp and no traction control system...especially on those stock skinny tires.

Yep. Over 60 is too old for regullar Government employees but the norm for MPs, especially cabinet ministers. Prawit is 77, the speaker is 79 and the rest keep the local hair dye shop in business.
60 is too young. Many 60 year olds still have all their mental faculties. My wife retired from government 2 years ago, but has taken another more senior position (but not srictly as a government employee). It's not like the ork is arduous like in construction. I would think many poeple can work until their are 70-75 or so.

Probably got an Elite visa and got confused, as they said he could sail through customs...he thought they said skate through customs. ????

Weather prediction is not possible, unless you are looking at a general area and a short time. The time is in hours to days.
Accurate rain prediction for a small area is not possible. I have seen rain on one side of a street while the other side was dry. No forecast has ever been able to be that specific.
There are some areas where you can predict no rain and some times of the year where you can be reasonably sure of no rain.
There is a reason why the weather services have the most advanced powerful computers.
The www.windy.com shows real time rain. I would say for my location it is 98% accurate - if rain at my house it almost certainly is raining. It also shows the movement of rain, so if there is a storm front coming you can expect it, as long as it's not far away. It may break up or dissapate. It other instances, rain can start spontaneously from existing clouds. The The current situation.

This page suggests only 5% of Thais regularly pay income tax.

"Many Thais, both rich and poor, are simply outside of the tax system. Just three million Thais out of 67 million regularly pay income taxes."
Those 5% probably work for the government. My wife paid something like 160K in tax last year.
I douby many businesses pay much tax at all and run separate books if they are ever audited.

Don't get a new CR-V. They have turbos now.
Turbos wear out faster than aspirated engines and cost more for maintenance.
Except the top spec cr-v is hybrid non-turbo.
Post some links for your second statement. It turbo engines fail, that is mainly due to abuse or poor maintainence.

My MG4 is the first car I have ever bought that hasn't had to have something fixed under warranty (touch wood).
And you have had this car exactly how long? .....most cars are fine during the warranty period. But 5-10 years down the track is when you will meet problems. Just be sure to sell it well before the warranty expires.

Not to mention that Chinese-made batteries are made with Australian coal! Which in itself creates a carbon debt od somthing like 9-10 tonnes of carbon dioxide, even before the car has rolled out of the manufacturing plant. EVs wont truly become green until their production is entirely from renewable energy.
Having said that, most don't buy EVs in Thailand becaue of their perceived greeness. They just want t save a few baht....I hope they sell their car while it still has warranty. It will be worthless out of warranty.
