With nothing else available it seems, I would imagine the chance of catching Covid and the possibility of severe illness or even death I suppose?

One would hope said expats have good health insurance and lots of money for quarantine when returning to LoS if they ever want to leave. Who knows what other restrictions may be put in place - will it affect extension of stays or work permit renewals? I would be wary of employing an unvaccinated foreigner in a school or some other company.

The other thing the Thai government has never publicly talked about is just what the daily capacity for giving vaccines will be at either Vimut or the second center in Bangkok.

At some of the government's large public vaccination centers they've run in recent times, they had capacity to do up to several thousand people per day per site. No info on that regarding vaccinations for expats...

But, when the Ministry of Public Health a week or so back opened the Bangrak Vaccination and Health Center in Bangkok and began vaccinating Chinese nationals there, I believe the government said that one center could handle 180!!! vaccinations per day...

At that rate, it's likely to be one Heck of a long queue....

"Chinese-donated supplies of the Sinovac vaccine will be administered by the Bangrak Vaccination and Health Centre in the capital, with the aim of vaccinating 180 people a day."

    https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/government-confirms-3-channels-for-vaccine-registration

Even at 200K vaccinations a day, in will be Jan next year so that 70% would have gotten one shot only. We are nowhere near 200K shots a day, and I'm not sure that can be achieved, even if all available nurses are vaccinating (they have normal duties as well). MTT and Bang Sue can do about 10K a day, but then we need another 18 sites that can do similar numbers. I envisage most of the vaccines will be used in the dark red zones, so anyone living up country is in for a long wait. Maybe herd immunity will not be reached until 2022, and by that time we may need different vaccines to better deal with mutations.

maybe the time to Update to?

    eg:

Swift GLX Turbo adds the following features over Swift GL Navigator Plus:

    • BOOSTERJET turbo engine
    • 5.1L/100km fuel economy
    • 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters
    • Digital climate control
    • Keyless entry and start system
    • 2 x tweeters

I'm aware of the new car. I don't think she wants another swift. It will be more likely be the honda city turbo or city hybrid, when she decides to part with her cash. The other option will  be the new honda civic when it's introduced here. She liked our old civic the best and preferred to drive that than my new crv which she finds too big.

This one. Well not the dragging part, obviously.

With one million health care volunteers this would be relitviely simple to do.

Random sampling, and pooled sampling, are part of the accepted monitoring process.

But I guess you're saying that unless someone presents with symptoms we should assume there is no local infections, or transmissions. Seems stupid, but I'm sure it makes sense to someone.

Village health volunteers are not allowed to take swabs due to the risk involved. Only trained medical staff can do this. Nurses are already run off their feet and the govt still plans to push more vacinations in June. Now they are chansing nurses to volunteer their time doing vaccinations in various centers.

Its impossible to register for the Government Covid vaccine scheme, as an Expat in Pattaya.

So the Government told all foreigners to register for the Covid Vaccine on Saturday.

Can't register through the App as it won't accept my Pink ID details even though it accepts my Thai wife.

Phoned Pattaya City Hall they told me to register at Banglamung Hospital.

Phoned Banglamung Hospital, they said there is NO SYSTEM in place to register foreigners.

Maybe the Ambassador or his staff can phone the Chonburi Governor and ask what systems they have put in place to register foreign Expats in Pattaya, as per the Government's instructions, and when are they going to inform the Expat community about them?

The don't have a system in place because they can't be bothered. Hospitals can register foreigners, especially if they ave medical records there. Do they think they will be flooded with thousands of foreigners climbing over eacher for a jab of sinovac?

agree on the Suzukis... especially the SX4 CVTs are very well behaved and given the faultless years gone by... great longetivity   Still; one great fringe benefit with CVTs is having the Selection Paddles - bring nearest equivalence to driving a clutchless manual

Unfortunately out swift doesn't have flappy paddles. The civic (and I think city) have more normally shifting cvt's. They are fake shift, but emulate a normal auto. Giving the bean to our swift isn't a pleasant experience. It's not a car for the boy racers:)

I'm afraid the "slowly" term is being "slowly" replaced with a "rapid" increase. The chart below is community cases only and only up until 28th May. In a few days when updated it will show a much higher week ending figure

    1018747720_datapointsweekly.png.10c24f12

These are cumulative cases, so of course they will increase (it can only flatline when there are no more cases). Plot the daly walk-in cases for the previous month. Post that one. This is the only graph that will indicate uncontrolled community spread. Most cases are still being linked to known or emerging clusters.

    ???? what a waste  of  time .

First come / first serve will last a day. The chaos and confusion on that day will then mean they will set up a system of appointments.

Bang Sue station is vaccinating around 10K people a day - mainly those workers in companies, taxi drivers, etc. They are by appointment. There may be walk-ins, but those people are just filling spots of those who don't turn up for their shot on that day.

  9. My wife has a cvt swift, no problems with it. There are no 'shifts' per se, so it's smooth to drive. I've driven a BIL's company vios with the 4 speed auto. I really didn't like the way it shifted (perhaps it was just an old car). Maintenance is important for a cct - if driven normally and maintained, there should be no problems getting 350-300K kms out of them (I know of suzukis with this king of mileage and the cvt is still fine.

The world already names it the Thai strain, a kind of the working of karma actually, as I was called a person of lower hygine standards by Thai athorities, and the extreem xenophobic reactions shown the  last couple of months ranging from sealing off living quarters with barb wires to Thai first vaccination policies. I must admit that I enjoy the Thai variant saga that is enfolding in the media. Som na na.

Karma is if the strain gets here and you catch it and die lol

Hey, i must have similar tastes/requirements as you because my Thai wife (of 22 years) has these exact 10 points, and I love her as much as the first day, i feel blessed ????

Back in the early days, people would get confused when they saw this well dress Thai woman with a farang slob...but now I got rid of my 20 y.o shirts and now look passable lol

He specifically said “all Thais” will be vaccinated by the end of the year. Can’t be clearer than that.

    No farang.

He is adressing Thai press, and it is Thais who he is referring to. Why would he mention foreign vaccinations to Thai people? Even so, he should ahve said "all people / all Thais who want a vaccine, will have one by the end of the year".

Better get a move on then. That’s about 750,000 jabs a day starting 1st June.

    Absolutely no chance.

UK is only averaging around 500,000 a day and that’s with a lot of practice and organisation.

One reason is that the UK (823/100000) also has about 4x mas many nurses per head of population the Thailand (275/100000). Even if there are enough vaccines, they just don't have the nursing staff to do massive numbers of vaccinations. My wife, who is a RN but not working in a hospital, has also been doing vaccinations (about 100 a day for her). The staff are stretched petty thin.

My Thai wife registered on three different sites and has two appointments. Many people will do this, so the one million probably includes many double or triple registrations and I don't know if they will correct for that. She will go to the first appointment and take me to the second, let's see what happens....

This is correct - there are many "fake appointments" - as my wife puts it. She works on the mor prom call center each evening, and all saturadays. I don't think they are accepting new registrations now.  It seems they are going to be doign followups and vaccine certification from now on. It seems its being left up to the provinces to organsise vaccinations now.

Lampang got over 200K registrations - because the province officials registered people without even asking them. lol. So there are a lot of excess registrations. perhaps there will not be such a vaccine shortage as we think.
