Firstly, Ocean World is an Australian owned, operated and managed company.

Secondly, nothing is hidden in Thai script. They have prices listed in English for:

1) Foreigners.

2) Thais and Expats.

If you have a Thai Driving License or even an ATM you qualify as an Expat. Both sets of prices are clearly shown.

Like I said.... Siam Paragon Ocean World hides the entry price in Thai script.

The hotel doormen do not control the street or lease it out to taxi scammers.

The police THINK they own the street and lease it to these scammers. EVERY taxi parked in front of a tourist hotel is paying the police. This is prime scam turf.

Although the hotel doorman doesn't control the taxi mafia, he is genuine scumbag that should be warning the guests about these chronic scammers parked in front of his hotel, but he smiles and will get a piece of the action.

I found this confirmed when I went to the LUNCH BUFFET at the GRAND MAJESTIC HOTEL in lower Suk a few weeks ago. The smiling young doorman wanted to make other clueless tourists to use the services of those scam cabs parked in front of the hotel ( it is about 400 meters walk to Suk from down the Soi, so many tourists do not want walk back to Suk).

I yelled at that guy (the first time I yelled in Thailand for many years, usually I am good and keeping CHAI YEN CHAI YEN ^^) and called him a thief and a disgrace for Thailand in both Thai and English language (so all the tourists as well as the Cabbies in front of the Hotel would be able to get my message)

So, basically, you created a scene in front of the Grand Majestic Hotel over your disdain for "scam cabs".

A few questions:

1) How did you know the "tourists" were "clueless"?

2) How did you know the "tourists" were even tourists and even if they were "clueless" tourists?

3) How did you know where exactly the potential passengers were going?

4) When did you self-appoint yourself as an undercover anti-cab-ripoff agent in Thailand?

5) Do you have medical insurance?

It is not impossible to find a taxi in that soi that will use the meter, I know, I've lived there.

I stay there 4 or 5 times a year. Impossible to get a taxi. Walk up to Sukhimvit EVERY time. Same thing on Soi 18 too.

Last time I did notice the Best Western Hotel Soi 20 finally put up a warning sign about the taxi situation.

Gave 20b to a 'blind' man singing once while his wife lead him along, he turned the corner, I did 20 seconds later, he was getting into his tuk-tuk, his wife in the back, he did a u-turn and drove off.

Last time I ever gave money to a Thai that asked for some.

I was watching two teenagers knock a football about on some waste ground in Chang Mai many years ago now. They even asked if I wanted to join in. Eventually, One put on sunglasses and a music box while the other led him by the arm. both of them were grinning from ear to ear.
