Yes they will if they issued the re-entry permit. If not you will have to use your old passport to show it until you get a new one.

If issued by either airport in Bangkok they will transfer it for you when leaving the country or if you go to their offices at the airports.

    Ubonjoe,

Thanks. That will save me time. I got the multi reentry issued at bkk so will allow extra time and get it copied there when next leaving (a lot easier than queuing for hours at CW).

  2. Apologies if this has been addressed before.

I have retirement extension of stay and multiple re-entry permit until 4th May 2020 issued at Chaeng Watthana immigration Bangkok. My passport is now full and I'm in London. I have just applied for a replacement UK passport and will receive it in the next few days.

I will return to Bangkok next month. I know that I need to show both old and new passports on arrival and will go to immigration at CW within 24hrs to file TM30 and get the extension of stay and re-entry permits transferred.

Can anyone advise a concise list of required documents and procedures for transfer of extension of stay and re-entry permit to new passport please? (I own my condo and know how to do TM30 myself).

    Thanks in advance.

It looks worryingly unmanned. "Take a Break" could mean anything from back in a few minutes to see you in a few hours - if you're lucky.

The desk is just a document check (advise printing and filling the form in advance) If you go to the right of the desk there is a small seating area ahead of the immigration exit desks. Beyond the seating area on the left is the office where they actually do the reentry permit.

  4. It is possibly even more likely today that an airline will check your visa/return ticket status before allowing check-in and boarding. IME: Thai Airways never check, however a few months ago I flew Asiana and the check-in staff consulted the handbook before issuing a boarding card (even with a visa). The airlines don't want to get lumbered with repatriation fees in case of refused entry. Though how they would ever know if you exceeded recomnended Visa Exempt, or otherwise, entries is uncertain. A one-way ticket will almost certainly raise lots of questions,

I own a condo in BKK and did a retirement extension at CW on Wednesday.  I was sent to the B desk to complete a TM30, luckily i had brought my yellow tabian bann.  People without one or a rental contract were told to return with one, delaying their extension.  The TM30, B desk lady told me I had to register again within 24 hours of re-entering Thailand.  She gave me a letter in Thai "explaining" everything although I have no idea what it says.

My extension took 7 hours .....

    Cherp,

I also own my own condo in bkk and have filed TM30 3 times in last 6 months at CW. It's a real P.IT.A these days as the crackdown has seen longer queues and move from J desk to B desks. I just show my chanote, purchase contract and passport copies. The receipt takes 5 minutes (after a 3 hour wait). Only need to file if intending on doing any other immigration business this stay. If not then no need to bother filing as unlikely to get checked or caught without filing. Online is possible with application by sending copies of all documents however my login stopped working after 2 months so gave up.

  6. I finally got yellow tabian baan (house book) after one month waiting at PhayaThai Bangkok. The pink ID card is a 15 minute extra wait and valid for 10 years. Not sure how useful it will be other than for buying own motorcycle or car. BUT one thing is for sure, getting this and other status items will only ever be more difficult for farangs going forward. My thinking is that if entitled, do it now to avoid frustration in the future. It is worth the effort but possibly in future it may be unattainable. Once you have it then it will not be revoked.

  7. CW are now very anal about filing TM30 before conducting any other business such as extensions. If you have a TM30 receipt that you have stapled in your PP then you are probably fine even if not since your last entry. They may or may not check. TM30 at CW is s real P. I. T. A and I don't bother unless having to conduct an extension or other business. After owning my own bkk condo since 2010 I never did this until 2018 when needing to deal with Immigration. It was mobbed at B desks at end of April 2019 as the crackdown on foreigners (not just farangs) has spurred owners/managers to file TM30s on behalf of all alien residents. Nightmare.

  8. I observed same when at CW 3 weeks ago. Arrived at 11am and got tickets for TM30 B desk and TM7 extension at L desk. The TM30 number came up at 2pm and was processed in 5 minutes. Then L ticket cam up at 2:30pm for check. Then waited another hour to see the IO (was asked for the TM30 which she copied for me). Then told to sit outside and wait. Finally got passport back at 4:30pm. Luck all my papers/copies were in order. Thank goodness it's only once a year!

  9. I arrived at BKK on Monday 29/04 and after dropping off bags at my condo went to Chaeng Wattana to file TM30 and apply for retirement extension. I arrived at CW 11am and was given ticket B186 for TM30 desks (which recently moved from J desks). There are now 4 desks just for TM30 but only 3 staffed. There were very many people (Thai landlords or their staff) waiting. Some with thick stacks of TM30 forms probably about 15 to 40 forms per agent. As might be expected, the queue went very slowly. Then it was lunch time and the office closed on ticket number 144. On resumption at 1pm it was same again. Very slow. My number finally came up at 2.30pm (2.5 hours waiting). The lady clerk was very helpful and it was standing room only in the desk area. They were overwhelmed with work and going flat out to process all the papers.

She had me stand beside her while processing the application and I could view her monitor clearly. She entered my details and all my immigration record of entries and picture from that morning's entry was shown on the screen. After seeing I was filing within the 24 hours it was simply a case of fill out the tear off tab, sign and stamp it then out of the office. She did ask for copies of my land register and purchase contract.

Total time 2hrs 35 minutes. Plus travelling time to/from CW. Glad I don't have to do this again for a long time.

    It saves them work.

The yellow tabian baan is really one part of Thailand where it comes down to office by office.

Some are no problem. Some say impossible. Some make it easy. Some make it difficult.

You will need to go to your local Amphur and ask them. Or better to go down with the documents you think you will need and apply for it. See what they say. Then you will know.

Finally, after 1 month, my area office of Phaya Thai has received back from Immigration my record of entries and stays. I have an appointment on 30th April to make the yellow book (and pink ID card). It seems that every office has different rules - or interpretation of any rules. I'm NOT holding my breath... Will update TV on outcome. I have owned my condo since 2010 and have land register in my name. I also have Non-O based on retirement.

  11. I've currently got an application in progress for the yellow book (and pink id card). I'm on non-o retirement.

My local office sent off to immigration for a record of my entries and stays in the Kingdom. I'd never heard of this requirement before and they showed me a page of another applicant as to what they were needing. They made no mention of the qualifying criteria. See attached. Apparently it takes a month to get this. Has anyone else encountered this requirement? I thought at first they were slowing things in expectation of tea money but gf says not.

This is in Phyathai in Bangkok. They don't speak English there and are not very helpful. I own my own condo.

    They wanted following documents/coppies:

Passport certified by embassy, translated and certified by MFA, visa, tm6, land register, property purchase contract, 2 independent witnesses (took gf and condo manager). Letter from condo management company saying I lived there. Existing blue book for the condo (I got this when purchased but of course, it has no names). Bank book and statements.

They've had all the above but can't issue the yellow book until hearing back from immigration.

Has anyone else been asked to wait for a report from immigration as below regarding entries and stays?

Just got my re entry permit at DM. I had form filled out. No line and took about 5 minutes! It is midnight and office is staffed

Far better than wasting a half day at CW.

Thanks for good info here on Thai visa!

I, like you, wasn't sure about getting reentry at airport. Glad to hear that it also worked out for you (especislly late night at DM) . I'll do wherever most convenient in future (or get multi) at time of another visit to CW. Thanks for sharing.

  13. I went to CW on day of arrival last month to convert tourist to non-o based on retirement and file TM30 (own my condo). Had all docs, letter from bank etc. Visa number came up first so went to C desk. Female IO barked at me "Where's your TM30?" Showed her completed form and she insisted I filed TM30 before she would start visa conversion. I'll go back for non-o retirement extension next month so will be prepared.

Perhaps, but do you know how much extra time you'll need att the airport to be sure you won't miss your flight?

    Stressful I'd say.

2 hours roundtrip to/from CW plus 1 to 2 hours waiting there, or simply allowing an extra 1 hour at the airport? I'll never be wasting time (and cost) going to CW again just for a reentry permit. Far less stressful to get it at the airport.

  15. I got reentry permit at Suvarnabhumi last Friday about 11am. Had paperwork, picture passport and cash in hand. There were 5 people already being processed. I handed in docs and was given back completed in about 8 minutes. Nice lady io directed me not to join the long queue but to a shorter queue in front of the desk. Much, much easier than getting it done at CW.

  16. It would appear that home visits are now common on many first applications. It will be interesting to see if there are annual or random visits on renewals.

My recent experience: I applied to change tourist to non-o (based on retirement) at CW last month (Feb 2019). The IO told me they would call to schedule a visit to my condo in Phaya Thai. They did call and came a few days later, bang on time. It was two officers in uniform and I think the condo manager thought i was in trouble :)

The two officers were very polite and came into the room. They looked at Passport, Bank book, Bank Statement, Title Deeds etc. - all of which they already had copies. They then had me hold the PP and BB open on relevent pages and took a picture of me. They also wanted a copy of my gf's ID card and signed form from her (what would have happened if I was alone or had no gf I wonder?). Then they took pictures of me alone, me and gf and finally me, gf and one of the officers in front of the condo door with the house number. They left the building to their car.

I went back to CW just over 1 week later to get my PP stamped with the new visa (valid 3 months from first entry). I have to go back before 4th May to get the extension stamped. I'm asuming they give me the remaining 9 months or will it be a whole year? Anyone know?

  17. I arrived at bkk on 4th February on SETV and went immediately to CW to convert to Non-O based on retirement with 800k seasoned for required period (I now realise it would have been easier to get non-O multi entry in London).

Female IO in C1 area was a nasty piece of work and wouldn't answer my questions. Just snapped "sign here! , get another copy! , phone number!" etc. She was not helpful at all despite me being presentable and polite.

She was looking for any reason to kick me out. Bank book showed aggregated totals with no separate entry for the foreign remittance of the 800k. She wasn't happy. The statements did show it which she finally accepted. I also had a copy of the foreign transaction advice. I own my own condo so had to show land register, blue book and transfer advice.

I was told that IOs would call me to arrange visit to my condo. 2 very nice female IOs came 2 days later and looked at same items they already had copies of and took pictures of me holding my passport, bank book opened on final page and with one of the agents. Then pictures of me, my gf and one of the officers in front of the door with my apartment number. My gf had to supply her id and verify too.

Was then told to come back to CW on 18th Feb for visa stamp. Got stamp with permitted stay until 4th May. Did reentry permit too.

I'll be in and out of Thailand several times before 4th May. They told me to come back and get extension for the full year. How early can I go back  for extension as it wasn't clear from IO? When I go back, will they process the 1 year stay on same day? Assume they'll want another bank letter, statements and copies etc.?

Any advice much appreciated as I'm keen to avoid wasted or multiple trips to CW. Thanks.
