so if the e-visa rules state you must be a resident/citizen of the country you are applying from????????

Last time I looked Dublin is not in the UK....

I am a British citizen living in Ireland and previously submitted my visas to Thai Consulate Dublin now they will be submitted to Thai London Embassy. Looks like The Thai Embassy London will deal with Irish and UK citizens.

Easy to sign up from anywhere. My only problem came from my home country bank where the ACH transfer originates. They sent a text for me to ok it. As it went to another phone, I did not get it. I did find out about it though and was ready when we tried a second time. That was a one time deal my home bank did when a new ACH transfer request came in they did not know about.  Used them for a couple years since, without hitches or any more "text confirmation requests".

However it does pay to keep ones eyes open. Transferwise limits the amount (from US) to 15K per transaction via the ACH method. Over this amount and they will try and kick you over to a wire transfer. At that point my home banks wire transfers become competitive. Note - this effects me as I am not doing monthly living amounts via a pension. I make a transaction once a year for funds. Besides this a number of companies  have started offering similar services. I'm happy with Transferwise, but as always keep my eyes open.

How did you get around the security text message from your bank as that's what I'm anticipating with a wire or transferWise transfer. You can change your TW phone number but the home bank is more difficult when in Thailand.

  3. Many thanks for the help, very useful that if you select long term stay it would give you an international transfer. However TransferWise say that you can obtain an FET form,( ref : my last post )that's if the bank staff were helpful I suppose.

Yes I did mean the non immigrant O based on retirement.

I know that you can amend your phone number with TransferWise in Thailand as I have done it before successfully and a Swift transfer with Bank of Ireland would also need to be changed and this is my concern if it would accept a Thai number.  When the time comes I may go for TransferWise and follow the advice on here.

    Many thanks again guys.

Might be useful to print the "PDF receipt" for every transfer.

It proves at least that foreign currency has been transferred.

It shows the amount of foreign currency and the amount in Baht corresponding with your bankbook.

Many thanks I found that TransferWise say that you require an FET which you can get off the bank that transferred the transaction as it initially shows as a local transaction

In some cases TransferWise use say Kasikorn to pay into Bangkok bank. And you would need to go to Kasikorn with the details of the transaction and maybe pay a small administration fee.

They advise using a Swift transfer to avoid this which would be more problematic for me if I am doing from Thailand as they would probably send me a security code to my Irish mobile which would be unobtainable if using a Thai mobile number.

    Many thanks.

technically transferwise is a local transfer. you pay elsewhere and money located here is given to you. That said I gave never had an issue at CW.

So  to be clear if the transfer is made by TransferWise  into a future Thai bank this could present problems for me as it would appear as a local transfer which I gather is not acceptable to the visa requirements. Even though my account with TransferWise is a border less Euro account with a Brussels address and IBAN and account in my name. Why would it show as local.

Has anybody else used TransferWise for depositing to Thai bank for visa requirements . In my case it would be 400,000 needed for 2 months in Thai bank. You refer to CW what is that , many thanks for your help but I want to get this right.

TransferWise is OK but make sure you select "Long term stay" in the reason for transfer dropdown.

Would this transfer be then accepted by Thai immigration as it would just show TransferWise and not a bank even though it would originally come from one.

My difficulty if not with TransferWise is getting a secure code which they would send from the bank and my phone number would have changed to a Thai number.

  7. Hi can anyone confirm that as a UK pensioner I am entitled to apply for a 3 month single entry based on 68 years old and in reciept of a UK pension. And is a letter stating I am recieving this enough. No need to show financial requirements.

I am planning a 3 month visit and if this is ok it would save me applying for a tourist visa and then the extension for 30 days.

  8. Its only 15000baht plus through an agent if you haven't actually got the money in the bank[emoji2] If you have the money in the bank and just want them to submit your paperwork and ensure everything is order and a guarantee to get your extension, expect to pay no more than 5000-6000bht which would include your 1900bht extension.

I have the problem of not having 800.000 baht in my bank. Is using and paying an agent this amount about 15000 baht a genuine solution to this problem. Can anyone recommend an agent who could help me in this matter.I meet all the other requirements .

Sent from my LG-V700 using Thaivisa Connect mobile app

  9. Many thanks for your replies, they help me a lot. I had previously only had 2 visa exempt one in Dec last year and one this June.  I am weighing up the best options I have already booked a ticket for return to Ireland . Maybe next time I will book one for the extra 30 days extension and hope there would be no problem. I would just need a letter from my girlfriend saying I am residing with her there is that correct, plus passport photos , copies of visa and immigration stamp, yes?. Then choose an office nearby to where I am staying.

  10. Hi, I am a UK citizen living in Ireland and will be applying in November to the Thai consulate Dublin for a single entry visa for a two month trip. How many times in one year can I apply for single entry tourist visa?.  I have a Thai girlfriend who lives in Chaiyaphum and will be going back and forth. Thinking of 2 months Thailand then back for 3 or the other way around maybe with an extension too, is there an immigration office in that area.
