  1. The "American Interference" disinformation campaign is being propagated by the usual suspects, and is compounded by the fact that Pita, in addition to being young, vibrant, progressive, smart, hopeful, confident and anti-establishment, took advanced degrees at KSG/Harvard and Sloan/MIT. Hence he gets tarred with being a lackey of the Americans. Sore losers gonna whine, and try to undermine the new government any way they can. That's what this is about.
  2. In that BP graphic where is the Ministry of Public Health?
  3. Can you share some examples of this? And the success of slow-moving reforms? And how are these applicable to Thailand? Maybe Thais feel like there haven't been any real reforms for ages, if anything maybe things have moved backwards since 1997 or 2006. And they're anxious for more, bigger faster reforms? The groundswell for reforms of the Institution is shocking to me, I can't imagine how shocking they must be to traditionalists and ultra-nationalists. IMO, talking about, and entertaining the IDEA of reforms is perfectly acceptable and should be encouraged. And not discouraged as property developer Sreetha is offering as his "advice". If you aren't free to talk about something then are you really free?
  4. I was waiting for the part where Mom wouldn't give junior money for him to buy cannabis for his dogs.
  5. "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it." I'm hoping the next government replaces the 1932 Plaque which mysteriously walked away after all of the surveillance cameras stopped working. Most physical vestiges of 1932 have been disappeared, systematically, on purpose. Having a National Day is a good idea. Keeping December 5 as a holiday in remembrance of Rama 9 is also a good idea. But call it that, and not "National Day".
  6. Wow. Very few 11x cases result in an acquittal. Seems like the RTP should be reprimanded, both for bringing questionable and partisan charges, and not properly managing a Royal Procession.
  7. 74 % the country is on the wrong track. I'm looking for more detail on how this poll was framed, but having trouble finding it. What makes up "a wrong track"? It is possible to infer a polarized interpretation of this.
  8. If the Wiki Leaks diplomatic cables related to Thailand illustrated anything it was more about observation, analysis of intel and events which would inform positions and responses. I don't remember reading any cables about meddling in anything? I did not read all the cables. https://search.wikileaks.org/plusd/?qproject[]=ps&qproject[]=cc&qproject[]=fp&qproject[]=ee&qproject[]=cg&q=Thailand#result
  9. I think the date remains regardless of the horse-trading meetings leading up to it. July 4, 2023 I think. Be better if MFP could nail down the PM slot first. I think PTP is canoodling with the enemy in a concerted effort to nail down the Speaker, knowing that the Senate will not vote Pita through as PM. Then MFP might struggle to nominate another PM candidate while PTP will have one all (Senate-approved) ready to go. MFP will be hobbled - the point of all this for their monarchy-reform stance - but it will look like that happened through incompetence and naivete.
  10. OK, I'll bite... In what way(s)? Some pretty smart people swear by cannabis (sativa, maybe) use for creativity, getting work done, accomplishing tasks. In what way(s) is it harmful? Neither is alcohol....what? Not good for you? Affecting your memory? Both? Something else? Responsible alcohol consumption, in moderation, is IMO acceptable and worth the risk(s). Responsible cannabis consumption, in moderation, is IMO acceptable and relatively risk-free.
  11. I just have to ask that if, for every 250 anti-Biden articles posted here as topics could we get perhaps one positive article?
  12. The leading cause of death here for minors is drowning, followed closely by personal transport. No one is advocating banning water. Better to teach swimming. No one is advocating a return to walking or bicycles. Just education, safety and adherence to basic traffic laws/rules. I get that some people are freaked out by Cannabis normalization, but I'd much rather have my child experimenting with cannabis than methamphetamine, (or nicotine or alcohol) given that simple binary choice. People love to Google for the scariest cannabis article, study they can find and post it here thinking they're performing some civic duty. I'd ask that they also post a companion methamphetamine article or study. Especially the one's which highlight all the benefits of methamphetamine use.
  13. He should trot out the Helsinki Defense. President Donald Trump attempted on Tuesday to clarify his widely criticized comments in Helsinki, saying that he had misspoken when he said a day earlier that he did not see why Russia would have meddled in the election. Trump said Tuesday he meant to say he did not see any reason why it wouldn't have been Russia that interfered. "I thought that I made myself very clear, but having just reviewed the transcript...I realized that there is a need for some clarification," Trump said Tuesday at the White House. "The sentence should have been...'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia'." At the Monday press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said about election meddling in 2016: "(Putin) just said it's not Russia. I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/24-hours-later-trump-claims-he-misspoke-helsinki-meant-say-n892166
  14. Cannabis might increase the effects of the underlying mental illness(es) like psychosis and paranoia. It certainly doesn't 'cause' them in previously unaffected individuals. But thanks for the link to the drug treatment center. No one is making "fun" of this sad and tragic story. What an odd thing to say? The rest of your insult can be chalked up to incompetence in making a cogent argument.
  15. No, it's not debatable. Cannabis is NOT safe for 14-year-olds, unless it is part of a Doctor-regulated treatment plan. No one is advocating cannabis use for 14-year-olds. I'm sure the massive education campaign for cannabis could be added to the one they (don't) have now, for methamphetamine and other hard rugs? Right?
  16. He attended his daughter's wedding! OK, this is the scandal of the century. https://www.whitehouse.gov/voluntary-disclosure/ The White House will not release access records related to purely personal guests of the First and Second Families (i.e., visits that do not involve any official or political business). https://www.whitehouse.gov/disclosures/visitor-logs/
  17. Operating a vehicle while under the influence is against the law. If you are concerned with their behavior then you should contact the police. And you should implement, and enforce a strict no smoking policy for your property. I suspect you've chosen not to do this for financial reasons.
  18. I think the cabinet includes members not associated with a Ministry. Deputy PMs (for example Prawit and Wissanu) Office of the Prime Minister WiKi says No. of ministers 35 Total no. of members 45 I guess my point is that PTP's ask may not be unreasonable.
  19. This entire manifesto could be written replacing with ASEANNOW alcohol enthusiasts. The age restriction on cannabis sales is appropriate, and needs to be enforced. There are age restrictions on alcohol and tobacco. Retail distribution needs to be more tightly licensed and controlled. The police have the resources to do this. Claiming something can't be enforced is not an acceptable argument. So no we're responsible for Thailand's youth and their education? That's nuts. You need to back that claim up. Another spurious, off the cuff claim which needs to be supported. Prove that it is. Yes, some people start off with one thing, and then try other things. I'd submit that nicotine and alcohol are the number one/two gateway drugs, given their wide availability, low price and societal acceptance. But in Thailand there is only one gateway drug: methamphetamine. You seem to think that Cannabis liberalization one year ago is detrimental to Thai society, based on some illegitimate assumptions and three "Stories" in the press. I question your original point, and most if not all of your supporting arguments. It is interesting that the alcohol liberalization started last year, which has resulted in a far greater explosion of craft beer retail availability hasn't garnered the same outrage. I get that people want easy solutions to complex problems. And if you really think re-listing cannabis as a narcotic, having the police spend time enforcing cannabis narcotics laws, building more prisons will help solve Thailand's societal woes - which apparently didn't exist prior to cannabis liberalization last year - then I say go for it. Let's see what happens, and how much better things will be, again.
  20. For drugs? Very limited. For the most part Prisons are used. 80% of those incarcerated are for drugs. With the majority for methamphetamine. All the cannabis prisoners were freed (~ 4,000). So 210,000 - 230,000 inmates for meth. Holding more than one tablet of meth is now a serious offense. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thailand-toughen-rules-methamphetamine-pill-possession-2023-02-03/ Forget about the violent death toll associated with meth, the long-term health consequences and the cost to society not limited to the Bureau of Prisons, is staggering. But this massive problem is difficult to deal (and also tramadol, ketamine, crystal meth, mdma) with, so it is easy to get distracted by cannabis.
  21. My guess is that his grandfather, whom he allegedly cleavered to death, was his primary guardian and that his parents are absent or deceased.
  22. Depends what you mean by "under threat". If cannabis flower is relisted then we'll revert to the previous limited, strictly controlled, CBD (mostly) medical applications, controlled by the DTAM and currently only used for six limited medical treatments. Might the Parliament expand medical usage? Maybe, but doubtful.
  23. Surprised they didn't ask for a pony too. The entire cabinet is thirty-five, of which 19 or 20 are "ministries". Can't see MFP giving up the Speaker position.
  24. It has been reported that the young man hanged himself. who had just attacked his grandfather with a cleaver before hanging himself from a tree. No word that I've seen re: drug testing results. It was also reported that Police later found a marijuana bong discarded on his bed in a hut near the house. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2023/06/28/two-deaths-linked-with-cannabis-and-violence-krabi-nong-bua-lamphu/
