  1. The only way would be for some Senators to grow a pair and exercise the will of the people, or feel pressure from the public. I think you must put him forward one more time, even if he will lose. There are additional civil and criminal cases (taxes, land sale, sedition and 112 also being floated) just waiting to be filed, so he will be lucky to avoid prison, or be forced to flee the country. I assume other PM candidates will be similarly "vetted".
  2. FM Don's curious efforts towards Myanmar, while he is in caretaker mode, has a rotten stench. I don't get the purpose of his allegedly meeting with ASSK, or why he felt the need to reveal the details of the alleged meeting. He also appeared to be quoting ASSK... and that she “encourages dialogue.” https://thediplomat.com/2023/07/thai-fm-says-he-met-with-aung-san-suu-kyi-on-secret-myanmar-mission/ In related news: Thai Airways is adding BKK-YGN flights, twice daily as of tomorrow. (I think there is a single daily Thai Smile flight currently.) Thai Airways International Public Company Limited moves forward with the restructuring of Thai Airways and Thai Smile's business operations. Accelerate effective aircraft management Including managing flights to cover the increasing travel needs of passengers. by using Airbus A320 aircraft to replace THAI Smile routes in the round-trip route Bangkok-Yangon and fly on Thai Airways routes in the round-trip route Bangkok-Dhaka starts on 16 July 2023
  3. Pita and MFP's 14.4 m voters deserve a second vote. MFP + PTP should then put forth a PTP candidate (Srettha). If rejected, then that would be a nightmare. That coalition with well over 60% of the votes has a mandate to lead a government. Anything else would be a sham, and would be a slap in the face of the Thai voters.
  4. Inflation down significantly. US Inflation Rate is at 2.97%, compared to 4.05% last month and 9.06% last year. This is lower than the long term average of 3.28%. https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_inflation_rate#:~:text=US Inflation Rate is at,in price over a year. Gas prices down US Retail Gas Price is at a current level of 3.663, up from 3.643 last week and down from 4.879 one year ago. https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_gas_price Unemployment at 50 year low Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 209,000 in June, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in government, health care, social assistance, and construction. https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf Gettin' stuff done. Can't see what the hurry is on the re-election campaign? I mean most of us complain about the lengthening election cycle. CNN is just lamenting the lack of content so they gin up stories like these. Infections from the Woke Mind Virus seem to be trending down. And even Biden Derangement Syndrome is affecting fewer people.
  5. Breaking news: Thai Police will do their job. Tomorrow.
  6. I took issue with Arun's op-ed on MFP's "lack of maturity" last week. The last two pieces, this one and yesterday's on Prayut's exit and "Thai Puppet Masters", have been insightful.
  7. OK, I need to see.. a list of all (active, per the law-du-jour) "media" companies a list by "media share companies" of shareholders If you can't provide that please step aside.
  8. They're going to have to throw him in jail, or run him out of the country now. They can't have him roaming free in Thailand speaking truth to power. Assuming the "Court" "suspends" him, and I don't see how it is legal for the EC to request this of the CC, and when he speaks publicly he will be charged with Sedition (116).
  9. Excellent timing. Clustericus Fornicatii. There is no way Senators will vote for him now that they have an "excuse" unrelated to the unmentionable reforms. Surprised the EC didn't also dictate which candidate they support for PM.
  10. I'd just port the AT&T prepaid account to Mint (prepaid or PAYG). Switching to AT&T postpaid will just lengthen the process, and complicate it.
  11. I'm under the impression, from Thai articles, that Ms. Grundgreif was the person who lured Mack into a place where he could be grabbed? The other woman involved sounds like she was just living at the fridge house, and that she may have attempted suicide?
  12. This one. The authorities already said Mr. Mack's accounts had been the subject of multiple 200,000 transfers, some of which went to Olaf's account. So kidnapping, with self-ransom. Quite frequent here. When the police are involved in the kidnapping, the victim usually survives. Bike gangs, maybe not.
  13. Mrs. Petra Christl Grundgreif https://www.thairath.co.th/news/crime/2708683
  14. They kind of knew this day would come after voting for Prayut as PM in 2019 with 250 votes. House, Senate elected Prayut PM On 5 June, the MPs and senators voted for Prayut Chan-o-cha to prime minister. He beated Thanathorn Juangroonruangkit leader of Future Forward Party with 500 to 244 votes and 3 abstained. The combined House and Senate comprise with 750 members but only 747 were presented. Those absent were Thanathorn, suspended over an alleged media shareholding, Nakorn Pathom Future Forward Mrs. Jumpita Chantarakajorn was ill and Democrat Abhisit Vejjajiva resigned from party MP earlier that morning. Prayut’s 500 votes were beyond the 376 minimum requirements needed as stipulated in the constitution. All 250 senators voted to support him. https://www.fpps.or.th/news.php?detail=n1567399255.news
  15. According to Dr. Luft he was interviewed in Brussels by two DOJ prosecutors and four FBI agents, in March 2019. So the Trump DOJ sat on this "information" for nearly two years, including during the election? Sorry but that sounds odd. I still don't get why Rep. Comer doesn't have Dr. Left testify remotely, and submit written statements and supporting documents. Based the allegations I think Dr. Luft has more to fear from the Iranians or the Chinese?
  16. Again, and for the last time, I was referring the level of effort the Constitutional Court made by removing Yingluck. That same Court could do the same with Pita, with little effort. Yes, I will stipulate that significant effort, by the Powers that Be, was required to get the CC to act.
  17. Surely Dr. Luft could testify to Rep. Comer's committee via Zoom? Although given his situation he may not make a reliable witness. To me it sounds like Dr. Luft got caught doing various illegal things and then tried to offer information on Hunter Biden in return for no charges. U.S. Attorney Announces Charges Against Co-Director Of Think Tank For Acting As An Unregistered Foreign Agent, Trafficking In Arms, Violating U.S. Sanctions Against Iran, And Making False Statements To Federal Agents U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: “As alleged, Gal Luft, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen and co-head of a Maryland think tank, engaged in multiple, serious criminal schemes. He subverted foreign agent registration laws in the United States to seek to promote Chinese policies by acting through a former high-ranking U.S. Government official; he acted as a broker in deals for dangerous weapons and Iranian oil; and he told multiple lies about his crimes to law enforcement. As the charges unsealed today reflect, our Office will continue to work vigorously with our law enforcement partners to detect and hold accountable those who surreptitiously attempt to perpetrate malign foreign influence campaigns here in the United States.” https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/us-attorney-announces-charges-against-co-director-think-tank-acting-unregistered Count Charge Maximum Prison Term One Conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act Five years Two Conspiracy to violate the Arms Export Control Act Five years Three Violation of the Arms Export Control Act (relating to Libya) 20 years Four Violation of the Arms Export Control Act (relating to the United Arab Emirates) 20 years Five Violation of the Arms Export Control Act (relating to Kenya) 20 years Six Making false statements Five years Seven Conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act 20 years Eight Making false statements Five years
  18. That explains why he has been so hard to locate. This "story" has taken quite the turn.
  19. You are misinformed. There are quite a few bills, in several different categories. Very few cover mutilation. https://translegislation.com/ Parents, along with Doctors, can decide on the best treatment for their children. Persons 18 YO and up are free to make their own choices. I'm sure the anti-mutilation crowd, and that is pretty small. is also equally vocal about breast augmentation and rhinoplasty for those under age 18. Such a weird hill to choose to die on?
  20. I was referring to her removal by the Constitutional Court on a spurious charge, which many equated to a "Judicial Coup". https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2014/05/07/1399469258/ But yes, the seditionists (convicted) did do the heavy lifting, creating the theatre of turmoil which only the courts or military could "resolve". https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2021/02/24/suthep-3-ministers-found-guilty-of-sedition-against-yingluck-govt/
  21. OMG, he's a demanding boss. It's the end of America. I do find it strange that the right wingnut jobs can't stay consistent on President Biden. One minute they say he's comatose in the basement, then he's head of a crime syndicate, then he's evil incarnate. In this thread he's Pick a lane already.
  22. Senators really don't have a good argument to justify undoing the election and denying the will of the people. Better to vote him through, and then use the "System" (courts, commissions) to drive him from office. I mean it took almost zero effort to drive Yingluck from office, by using the Constitutional Court and a dodgy charge about reassigning a security official some three years earlier.
  23. Varies a lot by reporting office. What is your reporting office? Is this your first time using the system with your current address and passport? Status still shows as "pending"? For CW it seems to be in the range on one to five business days.
  24. Just when you think a "story" can't get any nuttier we get a new character introduced in Season 1. Dr. Gal Luft. Head of US think tank charged with acting as Chinese agent NEW YORK, July 10 (Reuters) - The leader of a U.S. think tank has been charged with acting as an unregistered agent of China, as well as seeking to broker the sale of weapons and Iranian oil, federal prosecutors in Manhattan said on Monday. Gal Luft, a citizen of the United States and Israel, is accused of recruiting and paying a former high-ranking U.S. government official on behalf of principals based in China in 2016, without registering as a foreign agent as required by law. Prosecutors did not identify the former official, but said he was working as an adviser to the then president-elect Donald Trump at the time. Luft is accused of pushing the adviser to support policies favorable to China, including by drafting comments in the adviser's name published in a Chinese newspaper. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/head-us-think-tank-charged-with-acting-chinese-agent-2023-07-10/
  25. Yes, but social media companies have the right to censor material. Social media companies have their own rules. Social media companies are not the Government. The First Amendment says the Government cannot limit free speech. The flimsy base of this case/argument is that the Government brought undue pressure on social media companies to remove certain posts. The social media companies were under no requirement to do so. If they chose to make editorial decisions that's well within their "rights". Evidently there are "exceptions"... The criticisms were echoed in the government’s Thursday night request for a stay. “The potential breadth of the entities and employees covered by the injunction combined with the injunction’s sweeping substantive scope will chill a wide range of lawful government conduct relating to Defendants’ law enforcement responsibilities, obligations to protect the national security, and prerogative to speak on matters of public concern,” the government’s motion said. The lawsuit’s plaintiffs countered with a weekend filing opposing a stay. Among the arguments are that the July 4 injunction carves out exemptions allowing officials to contact social media companies about postings involving criminal activity or public safety threats; national security threats; election-related issues including voter suppression attempts, voting infrastructure threats and illegal campaign contributions; and saying officials can continue “exercising permissible public government speech promoting government policies or views on matters of public concern.” https://apnews.com/article/social-media-protected-speech-lawsuit-injunction-c582abe6c79e72943a35776e6b5fc746 How did this case end up in Western Louisiana?
