Scoop: Tucker Carlson ready to torch Fox News
bamnutsak replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Sucks when you sign an NDA. And a non-compete. I think both sides are in a MAD situation (FOX has the stronger position as they have more juicy dirt on Carlson than he has on them), so this will be resolved with a settlement where he gets paid over time, and he can't compete for some epriod of time, 18 - 24 months would be my guess. I think this story is just Mr. Freedman flexing for his client. -

Following the HMA "Cocotte" strategy? https://www.hmgtasia.net/ -
I think this is just in the (bad) "idea phase". After being thrown against the wall it will slide down and into the drain. With the existing 700 baht PSC, and a proposed 300 baht TAT "Fee", this would mean they get you coming and going, for what would be a total of 2,000 baht. Will be interesting to see how many more ministries want to get in on the fee game?

As has been drilled into me, it's not about "success", it's about a "hobby".

No can do. Guns are "protected". The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) is a U.S law, passed in 2005, that protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products. Both arms manufacturers and dealers can still be held liable for damages resulting from defective products, breach of contract, criminal misconduct, and other actions for which they are directly responsible. They may also be held liable for negligent entrustment when they have reason to know a gun is intended for use in a crime. The PLCAA is codified at 15 U.S.C. §§ 7901–7903. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protection_of_Lawful_Commerce_in_Arms_Act https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/7902

My bad. I thought your reason for growing cannabis was so that you could have cannabis. Silly me.

Answering these questions can help refine a recommendation... How long will you be in the U.S.? What is your budget? How much data do you think you'll use/need? How many calls (minutes), remember you pay for both incoming and outgoing calls, will you use? What is the exact make and model of your phone? Do you need service immediately at the arriving airport? Are you AIS prepaid or postpaid? AIS offers some roaming packages which will at least get you started until you can source a local SIM. For five months, mostly data, you're going to need a prepaid SIM, with a monthly plan for which your CC will be billed. Peronally I would go with an Unlimited prepaid plan in the six-month category. For ~ $45/month (plus sales tax) this will give you unlimited voice, text and 40 GB of data. I like UltraMobile, they're a T-Mobile MVNO and in the process of being pruchased by T-Mobile, so the coverage is great. You could order the SIM, have it delivered to someone you know and will see or your first hotel, or you can find it in many stores. https://www.ultramobile.com/plans/ But there are others USMobile Mint Mobile

My point was that it may be more cost effective to purchase cannabis than to produce it. Just think about folks with indoor grow rooms struggling to get their AC down to 25 with an outside temp of 40 today.

Yes, you're right, and I was WRONG. I guess my anti-gun predisposition kicked in and I saw what I wanted to see? Reports now say "at least nine victims were transported to the hospital". I can't say that's "good news" but certainly better than 61. I guess I should have known, but when I remember that ~ 500 were injured in the Las Vegas shooting 61 didn't seem crazy to me. Thanks for posting that.

I like bacon and sausage. I do not raise pigs in my condo, nor do I use my kitchen as an abattoir, or use my bathroom to smoke and cure meats. I buy bacon and sausage in the store. Can you grow cannabis in your condo? Sure. How much cannabis do you expect to need, per crop or month? I'd focus on the strain first, do not use bag seed. Do not scrimp on seeds. Maybe consider autoflowers (FastBuds for example). And I wouldn't scrimp on a light. You'll be lucky to get 1 gram/watt with a full spectrum LM301 style LED, probably more like half a gram. There are a lot of second-hand lights for sale on FB, from growers who quickly gave up. And you're going to have to deal with the smell. There are folks out there (in Thailand of course) who will contract grow your seeds, but they can be challenging to find and vet.

Sixty-one! Wow. I would expect that a significiant number of these will suffer lifelong health issues including the mental and emotional trauma and scars resulting from the incident. The gun lobby/industry has got to address the health, and mental well-being of the victims of mass shootings. And by "address" I don't mean 'tots and pears', I mean free and full, lifelong health insurance, and survivor's benefits.

I'm not a big fan of this defense, but in this case an Allen PD officer was at this mall, on an unrelated call, heard gunfire, found the shooter and "neutralized" him, according to the Allen PD Chief in the initial presser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fcsxl_z-gk I think it's time for Federal and State governments to develop and deliver specific training for citizens which would allow them to utilize basic techniques to survive a shooting incident. This training should be live-fire, and mandatory for all citizens, including infants, children, handicapped persons, and the elderly. "Governor Abbott, serpentine, serpentine." Maybe the Department of Homeland Security, with their $52 B budget, and 260,000 employees could develop and deliver such a survival course, and start earning their pay and Secure the Homeland. I think this was a solo shooter, but there will be team-ups, like Columbine, that will use more sophisiticated techniques to increase the body count. We should all prepare for the worst. I still remember reading about what I think was one of the first mass shootings (UTA, Tower, 1966) and thinking uh oh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Texas_tower_shooting The shooter, age 2...

DeSantis signed a bill a few weeks ago creating a six-week abortion ban, somewhat sheepishly. Ron DeSantis quietly signs Florida's 6-week abortion ban into law The governor had no fanfare around the bill-signing, sending out a news release late in the night. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/ron-desantis-signs-6-week-abortion-ban-law-florida-rcna78989

Anyone else in BKK having increased electrical power outages lately?

I think these notices get sent via SMS, to the phone number of the person billed. They then relay a mesage to all of us via a LINE group message. -

You can check the MEA website for scheduled maintenance, which is what may have occurred for you (two nights ago)? Other than one scheduled maintenance, which MEA advised us a week in advance, we have not experienced any outtages in years. I'm in Khet Watthana (Vadhana) When I first moved here 20 years ago it seemed like we got an outage every day. -
Just to be very, very, very clear... It is Fox which fired parted ways with Mr. Calrson. It is Fox which is leaking these texts. It is Fox which is releasing the embarrassing behind the scenes video, even though they have sent a cease & desist order. You can find these by searching Fox Tucker Carlson leaked videos Media Matters. Hard-core fanbois should NOT watch these videos as you will twist yourselves into a pretzel "explaining" them, once you've reassembled your exploded head. Fox is flexing to keep Mr. Carlson in line while a settlement is negotiated. I have no doubt that his fans think he is sincere, once you've drunk the Kool-Aid you're hooked. I think he acts with sincerity, but his texts and words, off the air prove he is just acting. The Abby Grossberg case will settle obviously, so we'll be deprived of Tucker's sincere depravity. I guess we'll just have to wait for his eventual melt-down resulting in the police having to be called to his home.
