  1. It depends....

$3000US for great accommodation, buying many things, trips and drinking everyday

$2000US average accomodation, buy some stuff, trips and drink most days

If you want to go nuts, take $4000US

    My budget worksheet:

    ----------------------------

For me, I was living in budget accommodation (aircon) with bike hire and spending about 15,000 baht on an average daily amount for a week, ($500 a week)

When I hit the booze nearly everyday, it will go up to 25-30k baht on average daily amount for a week. ($1000 a week)

I find most people go through $2000-3000 for 2 weeks but i would personally suggest $3000 for 2 weeks!

The drinking is what cost the most (same prices as in the west when you go out to a good bar/club). We end up buying a big bottle of Red Label for 800 baht and was pissed then we head out! Pre drinks beforehand will always save you money, just head to any 7/11 for booze day or night!

  2. How old is the child?

As Thai law is that you are not the father of the child as you are not married, and if the child is under a certain age then

you must apply to be recognised by the courts as the father of the child, maybe they are tightening up these rules and

giving the Embassies the rules to follow word for word.

My boy will be 2yrs old in March

I agree that there are only two methods in which to 'aquire' fatherhood for a Thai child, the easiest is just to marry the childs mother, & the 2nd is to apply to the Family Court for a Judge to decide. To cut to the 'chase', I do intend to marry the mother in the nearest future, but I need to do a few things before that will happen, as we 'all' know once married everything either of us aquire is owned 50/50.

So my 1st objective will be to create a company, & as I can only own 49% of said company, the other 51% will be divided up between 6-7 different Thai's that DON'T know each other (key point), this gives me control of the company, once created the 'company' will buy land & some vehical's in the company name.

With these objectives obtained I am more than willing to marry my sweetheart, & thus gain fatherhood for my son

What a wonderful, trusting way to start a marriage. Hiding all of your assets from her because in the back of your mind you don't trust her. I wonder where does this lack of trust stem from? Is it because of where and how you met? Or perhaps the simple fact that she is Thai means you don't trust her? In which case you may need to come to terms with your own inherent views on race...Why would you marry a woman you don't trust? Sorry, for being harsh but it is what it is!

It comes from the West where we know that half of marriages fail within the first 5 years! We also know Thais usually favour other Thais so its important to cover your ass and assets!

  3. Where are all the police hiding ? I have lived in Silom for 11 years and have never seen police patrolling sidewalks. I see so many vehicle violations every day but no police to stop them. It seems that the only real law enforcement is where the Army is standing right behind the police...pushing them into action.

No respect for law and no enforcement (:

We have laws to protect the people but when they are over enforced like in the west, you lose your freedom!

The only difference is the money is going to the money hungry government in the west while in Thailand it goes into a cops pocket without a court case! Either way, the criminal has to pay!

  4. You can make both transportation and registration at the post office.

Yes, easy, called "LogisPost". About everything up to 200 kg can be sent to any post office in Thailand for pickup.

    A couple of threads exist.

    A fairly recent one:

    Thanks, only 1200 and 2600 Baht (for a 150 ccm scooter). smile.png

What about registration & insurance, how does it work in Thailand?

Is the cost above, the cost for anywhere in Thailand?

  5. Hi,

I'm staying in Thailand for about 1 year where I worked out it's cheaper to buy a motorbike compare to hire all the time. I will be travelling from north to south and want to take my bike with me. I will take a bus or plane to a new location where i would like my bike transferred. Who do I contact? I basically want to stay in a new location every month with my bike.

What about extra costs like registration?

  6. My parents told me a young age to always have some kind of money in a hidden bank account that you never touch unless it's an emergency.

I just had to head back to Australia last week cause i'm out of money and using my "emergency" bank account cause i can't work cause i just found out my hand is broken.

Always have money saved up cause we all go through financial problems in life!

  7. To this day, no matter if i'm in Thailand or back in Australia. I always hide my valuable and cash no matter who i know. You just don't know who will come to your house (extra friend of a friend) and you might have one 2 many drinks and not take notice of someone stealing your valuables.

My bags are always locked when I travel.

Who the hell carries 14,000 Euros around with them in cash when travelling??? I only take out 10,000 baht and lock it away.

  8. I've dated many Isaan girls where only one has acted like this. I packed my bags before the first month and ran.

Work out what you want out of a girl such as being emotional stable and a giver.

It's best to dump someone then be dumped, it's not as painful.

Couples fight all the time but if you are going to live together, I would suggest finding an emotional strong woman that gives and is submissive and feminine.

  9. Walking without paying will get you involved with the BiB, probably unwise.

Have you tried talking to the manager? At what point did they say they were going to charge as you've not actually checked out yet?

yes, but there is no manager until Monday...

I am thinking about getting the police involved cause i have photos but i doubt they will help... still an option i'm looking at!

You took photo's of the dirty sheets before and after use ?

what sort of hotel does not have a manager on duty ?

yes, i know... no manager to Monday

    A total scam...

  11. I'm at a hotel at the moment in BKK {LA Hotel) and they are trying to charge me for sheets that were already dirty, i have refused where i check out later tonight. What will happen if I walk away or get the police involved?

  12. The reason why you have posted this here is cause you don't trust her and blinded by your emotions towards her. A good Thai girl will not sleep with you so quickly. Ask yourself the question, what time of girl does? If she is like this with you, she will be this way with others and give it up so easy (first night). Girls, no matter what country she is from that party and go clubbing will cheat all the time. A good girl that you can have a relationship with would rarely go clubbing and party. It's a place of people sleeping around and cheating. Girls that drink weekly are trouble as well as smoke. If you want to test her, create another profile on the dating site and send her a message. See what kind of replies she sends you and this way you can find out if she is loyal or not. "no i don't have a boyfriend." etc... cheaper then hiring a PI. Don't ever give a Thai girl money, it's fine to go out and spend money on her but I tell all my Thai girls this. Many Thai girls online will milk many farangs for money so watch out. Bottom line, trust your gut feelings and if you see 2 many red flags, start running. There is so many Thai women out there looking for a good farang. Best place to find Thai girls is the shopping centre and just do the tourist approach and ask for her number. They will be friendly compare to women in the west that are bitchy and rude.
