  1. Ur embassy should only have punched holes in the front, back and no longer in use pages. The visas in your old passport are still valid, just show both passports when you pass through immigration.

    Robert

"just show both passports when you pass through immigration."

when i did it at nong kai, i was there about an hour cos they didnt want to fill out forms and transfer details accross to the new passport, so maybe travel a little earlier!

  2. Buy - the place behind Big C on Second Road sell some. There are catering suppliers on the Suk' that might hire for a day or two at some 'rate', probably better to try the second hand places than those with 'new' equipment only. Or try one of the companies that do the mobile pig in an oil drum - they generally have a range of services, and will provide tables, glasses etc. Might do a good rate on the beer as well. (Does your domestic rice cooker serve 50 as well?)

cheers for that, got a big pan there, and i think gas bottle etc is getting dropped off today, and not gonna do rice i dont think its a focker to keep, so at moment its looking like chips!

    cheers again,

  4. Hello, I am totally new at learning about all of this. Recently had a two week vacation to thailand. Really want to come back and stay much long time next year.

Looking at my passport now, I see it was stamped with two dates in a square box, my arrival date, and the expiriation date 60 days after that. I understand that you can pay 1900 baht at an office and get another 30 days.

Ok, here's my question. So, how many times a year can you fly in and out of Thailand and get tourist visa? Do I have to wait for some amount of time inbetween trips? Could I get four of these 60+30 tourist visas in a year? This must be a basic question, but I'm not seeing answer anywhere.

depending where you are from, imean what courty?? cant you get a 1 year multi entry visa in your coutry??

would save a lot of hassle.

PS. Who cares if it's an "illegal copy"? It's as good as the original and circumvent all the "contact M$" <deleted>. Have you had a look at M$ balance sheet lately? Can you say "de facto monopoly" or "predatory marketing strategies".

And therefore it is okay to steal software?

I suspect that you consider it legitimate to steal phone, internet, and cable television service also...

Yes. What's it to you anyway? I bet you're the kind of guy who hugs the fast lane exactly at the speed limit? Holier than thou!

You think it's ok for companies like Sony to put virus software on their CD to break users' PC when they try to play the music they paid for?

You think it's ok that you had to pay for the music, first on vinyl, then on MC, then on CD and what will be the next? Once you paid for the rights the media shouldn't matter, but you try to get the RIAA to agree with that.

ere , well were a sorted at this end, i decided to reort to bunging the programer and it worked well.

    thanks again

  6. Chris, perhaps I didnt make myself clear, you do have the DIY option:

Get hold of two or three different Windows xp discs (My experience is that if you only buy one, it doesnt work and end up going back for another. Sods law is that if you buy two, the first works).

Get one with SP 3, preferably with November 2008 written on it. This should boot straight into your laptop. It is a straight forward operation and can take an hour or so. Then you have to find the Chipset drivers and Video drivers, either from a disc you got with the machine or download from the HP/Compaq website. I have installed XP on plenty of laptops, especially those comming with vista and it is pretty simple, if occaisionaly frustrating ironing out the last of the yellow blips in devices manager.

hey thanks space fruit, and everyone, thats really helpfull, im off back to tesco lotus today and i hope there program manager will sort it, failing that i will go to tuk com, sorry i will send it tuk com and get them to sort it out, and thanks for letting me know that ill have to tell them to put vidio drivers on, is there any other things like internet access or anything i may need to tell them to put on????

    chris

  7. To the original poster. The Win XP is dedicated to the original computer it was shipped with, it will not load on a second computer without an OK from Microsoft(Changing the motherboard for instance). To PC, The 300 baht install at Tukom will be an illegal copy of Windows and will run into problems if the computer is connected to the internet. And why not buy computers in Carrefour or Big C? The same laptops are often cheaper in these places. If you are going to use a bootleg OS why not get the best price for the laptop?

    P

    1) Not if you bring the CD that came with the laptop. Read the OP again.

    2) Because after-sales service is non-existant.

PS. Who cares if it's an "illegal copy"? It's as good as the original and circumvent all the "contact M$" <deleted>. Have you had a look at M$ balance sheet lately? Can you say "de facto monopoly" or "predatory marketing strategies".

right so i shouldnt have bought it in tesco's, but, i did, so ive just been back to there and all ive heard from them is take to tuk com!!!!!!!!

i ve had a whinge and arranged to see there programer tom, which he prob wont turn up or wont want to do anything, so my option are tuk com and spend money? or ?????

    looks like tuk com win!!!

    chris

    cheers again chaps

  9. PeaceBlondie comes to mind. Someone mentioned Bendix, he's an interesting poster but I don't think he would be up for least offensive.

Jing, I would vote for you. Why? Because you had/have the guts to speak your mind.

To all those that infer offence (as such) but never utter an offensive word...gutless!

Again, this concept of offence has nothing to do with the perceived offender. Actually, I'd like to turn this whole thread around & ask "Who is most likely to decide to be an offended poster on TV?"

well, you know when you first log in in to thaivisa.com, you go to new posts, then you scroll down to what interests you, then you see that, X, the one you know that its been closed.

well you gotta admit that its gonna be one of them subjects that are 50/50 and the person who has closed that thread has been mentioned on HERE!

that makes me not even look at what they wrote as i think of em stright away as a traffic warden / school teacher type of person, say one thing, do another, very little time for them.

bendix, well, he has got an eye for football.

one other guy or gal on here banned me for 72 hours a long time ago, i know he was bang out of order, he knows it also, i wish him the best of luck in his life, as for him being the "Least Offensive Poster On Thaivisa" no!!!

why is it someone with the least going on in life loves to have a go at someone???

anyways, lopuri, ya got to give him a medal, he knows his stuff, maestro, bangs em in on quite, love to see berties posts but he also aint on much more, i personally think with a view to who is "Least Offensive Poster On Thaivisa" it would be more, but getting pm's off moderateors should be banned (as i prob am) if its fair why not post it, to pm it, a so called bollocking, is one sided and bang out of order, and you and i and everyone knows ya cant have your say, thats why i always copy and passte everyone of em!

so who ever wins, ya deserve it and it wiil (should be) someone whom everyone likes! (i hope)

    chris

ps tropo, i never realised that about the coins thing, i just thought i was a millioniare when im carring 50,0000000 million kip or whatever it is!!!!!

  12. its def gonna be worth watching, but as for one for putting cash on it???? anyones guess, as some say its maybe his last paycheck, maybe not maybe win this and be able to lose next and retire, well find out in the morning, and the best result for me would be a good prooper fight, good judges scoring, and a propper knockout win for Hatton.

unlike those 3/4 they put on last week b4 calazage!!!!

  13. Ah. An interesting post. So, bus plus visa fee is 300 + 1000 = 1,300. Visa run mini van packages are typically 2,200 or so. Do you do any Visa processing in advance or do you just hop on the casino bus, bring some passport sized photos and off you go? Do you have to make a reservation on the casino bus?

I need to make a visa run November 19. Might stay out of Thailand for two days in order to synch up my plane ticket with my next 30 day on arrival Thai visa. I arrived October 21 and m plane departs December 21 so I can't quite reach my dates with a one day visa run.

Can I come back on a different casino bus two days later? Is it worth staying in Poipet? Any reasonable accomodations there?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to find the best way to get a "three" day visa run to make my 30 day Thai Visa on arrivals "reach" to my departure date.

    Thanks.

    Sawatdee Krap, my new friend.

Glad to see that someone actually read by post.

I'm on a one year non-immigrant type 0 visa but I must leave Thailand every 3 months. I always go to Poipet, closest and easiest way to get visa back to Thailand.

I wait on Sukhumvit Rd. in front of Tesco/Lotus. There are seats there so you can sit down and take a load off your feet. There's a small

RESCUE Ambulance (EMS) shack with a satellite dish on top of the roof. The bus stop is right there in front of the RESCUE small hut on the Sukhumvit sidewalk. That's where you hop onto the casino bus. If I want to leave at 6 am, I arrive at 5:30 am and wait there. The bus normally waits right there for 15 minutes and leaves precisely at 6 am.

There are several casino buses that go to Poipet.

There's one that leaves exactly at 6 am, another at 8 am.

I think the 6 am is better, fewer people. The passengers are mostly Thai (they pay 100 baht for round trip). As a farang, I get charged 300 baht, but that's OK. The seats are normally half full, but it's a double decker bus so can hold many people. Most passengers are Thai folk going to do a bit of gambling in Poipet. If they ask (and they never do), just tell them you're going gamblin'.

Being that the Tesco/Lotus stop is the first stop to pick up passengers to go gambling, the bus is virtually empty and you have your choice of seats. I normally sit on the upper leve. If you see a white sign on the seat, then that seat has already been booked in advance. But they are loads of empty seats.

You can reserve a seat in advance but I'm sorry I do not know the number.

The buses do pick up passengers to go to Poipet, maybe pick up passenger at about 8 stops, but each stop is less than 30 seconds. You'll arrive at Ronklua Market (Thai side) where you can do major shopping for clothing, nik-naks, etc. Trip time is about 4 hours. there's a toilet on the bus...thank God!

Normally during half way thru the bus trip, the bus attendant takes the Thai passports and they fill out the Thai return trip Entry into Thailand TM card for you. They fill it out for you on the bus and hand it right back within 30 minutes. But as farang, they never asked for my passport. The bus is never checked in Aranaprytet border guards so the bus just continues thru any checkpoint along the way to the Rongklua Market.

I always see many kids hanging out at border to help you by holding umbrella to shade you from the sun. Up to you to give 1 baht to them. Since you'll be staying a few days, not necessary for hiring 2-wheeled carts to take your luggage with you as you go thru immigration. Just bring a backpack on your shoulders.

When you arrive at the Market, you'll walk maybe 500 meters and go thru Thai immigrations (usually takes less than 10 minutes to exit immigration). Walk through the door, straight through into Cambodia).

2 steps process to get Cambodian visa:

    1. Walk maybe 100 meter, then veer off to right hand side into Cambodian Immigration (basically small building). You'll fill out the basic form. The man outside can fill it out for you. You just sign the visa application, hand him one passport picture, and 1,000 baht). I normally have him fill everything out and hand him 20 baht for coffee money. Take a seat and wait about 5 or 10 minutes. He'll hand you your passport along with full-page Cambodian visa good for 30 days.

    2. After getting your full page Cambo visa, continue walking past Casinos and maybe 200 meter down on right hand side, you'll see another Immigration building where you wait in line and show them your passport and Cambo visa and they run your passport thru the computer and put an Entry Stamp in ink into your passport. Depending on how many people in line, maybe 10 to 15 minutes.

After that, continue walking straight in city of Poipet, maybe 200 meters where you'll see a lot of backpackers hopping onto Taxis to take them to Battambang or Phenom Penh.

I have always gone back that evening with the same bus. The casino bus parks in the bus parking lot and stays there until it is time to go back to Pattaya. The casino bus normally leaves there at 5:30 pm if you took the earlier 6 am bus.......or it leaves to go back to Pattaya at 6 pm if you took the 8 am bus. Takes again 4 hours to go back, but its in comfort.

I imagine you can stay at casino hotels. There's about 4 or 5 casinos within 50 meters from Cambodia Immigration. You can also further venture into Poipet, but let me warn you in advance that there is basically NO trees, looks a bit 3rd world style buildings, and there's lots of mud everywhere due to heavy rains. I personally wouldn't sleep overnight in Poipet unless I stayed at the casino hotels.

After getting my Cambo visa, I sometimes take a taxi from Poipet into BATTAMBANG, about 2 1/2 hour drive and can rent hotel room cheap. It costs about 200 baht per person in back seat (400 baht if you sit in front seat with driver) if you go by taxi to Battambang. They normally sqeeze 4 or 5 people in the car. Taxis (Toyota Camry cars) are about 20 meter passed where you get you visa entry stamp. The road surface out of Poipet is muddy and rocky for about 20 minutes, and then the road is good all the way to Battambang.

Battambang is Cambodia's 2nd largest city, but it's nice to visit, many French provincial buildings, hotels, restaurants, more relaxed place to visit. The Cambodian people speak a lot more English than Thai people and they are super-friendly and like to learn English from farang (Barang in Khmer).

There's another option....you can go to Thai immigration and extend your 30 day Thai visa for up to 7 days...up to Immmigration. so that you can make your trip to Poipet, get your 30 day visa, and then right before it expires, go to Immigration and extend it for a few days until your plane leaves. But I think the Thai immigration charges 1,900 baht for that service and might not be worth it.

I hope you understand all that I have written to you.

In my experience, I find Cambodian people speak English better than Thai counterpartsar and are even more friendly than Thai people. They were NO problems at border concerning the Preah Vhear Temple.

I hope this information will help you. Please contact me if you have any further questions.

May your trip to Cambodia be pleasant and fruitful.

    Wrestler7902002 :o

What a well written post mr wrestler, that should go onto the list for visas in Poipet, if we have a thread on that, might have a change of sceenery there one time as ban leam is a bit boring, wont take the bus but i think i might try that batam bang for a night or so, makes a change from koh chang!!

"i asked someone about tesco lotus and they said there are two on suk road" deejah

as far as im aware, 2 tescos in pattaya, one north road (not suk) then the other is actully on suk rd, which is between from memory south pattaya road, and i think its called theapasist road, that one that comes from joketiem!!

this is ace, ha ha ha ha !!!

" Besides the gasoline smell from I think a badly sealed container in the luggage area the van was fine"

wont be going with them then!!!!!!!!!!

i still am of the opinion of the sportsman inn on soi 13, does the best if ya just wanna get there and back, dont want to drive etc.

think its 2400 maybe 2500, get there at 6 get ya breakfast approx 6.30 i think off ya go, not running round everyones hotels waiting for them to brush there teeth etc, so ya out of patts by 7am if ya not there 6.30 ya dont go, if ya pissed ya dont go, up to you.

and it always seems to be back in town earlyier than rest!

last time i went ya got a free pint on return, but it was over a year ago, but best ive used!

  14. What is possible maximum length of stay with a double entry tourist visa? 60+30, 60+30+14?

as most have said, your right, but, that 14 days isnt on the list, unless you get very lucky for some bhat i mean reason.

    the question you ask is

What is possible maximum length of stay with a double entry tourist visa? which in itselfe can be taken a few ways, but if you were saying at this moment in time can you keep coming and going on a tourist visa if done correctly well i would say yes.

if that is the case read some of this below, it may help.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Vientiane-La...sa-t158561.html

if your trying to find out technically to a deff date, for a flight or somthing your about right like most say, but -14 days

    good look
