  1. So she showed up the airport and didnt stand up for herself? Well - I think here lies the problem - she let them get away with bumping her.

here, you try having a go with air asia, they full of shoite, and they just laugh, what can can you do when you talking to an idiot, who dosent even like you anyway cos the couler of ya skin, i think she did best, walk or ya gonna end up monkey house for sure.

i hate air asia, they like a set of babies, you can guartee that money wont go back into account she will have to call them again and if she emails them they wont reply.

use em, sure, they have the flights!

  2. Hello,

I have some conserns about my visa. I have 2 months Tourist Visa until 5th of August, but my flight is on 6th of August. I am not sure that i have to pay tax for one day overstay. Most of sources that i checked said that there is no need to pay anything.

However is there any procedure on the airport about 1 day overstay, just i need to jump on the airplane ?

    Kind regards,

    Kal

i think the procedure at the airport is, 1 day no problem, as many have flights just after midnight etc, if its 2 days then you pay 2 days, ie your first was maybe an oversight and 2 is you should have done somthing about it!

    so 1 day no money

    2 days 2 x 500 bhat

  3. A friend of mine currently has a 30 day extension on his Non O which has expired. He wants to stay a little longer if possible and was wondering if he could apply for a tourist visa, and if so would this be his best option for temporary stay. He is going back to the UK soon so he can apply for another Non O there.

If he applies for the tourist visa is this done at the Immigration office in Bangkok or at a border. He normally goes to Cambodia when a visa run is required.

    Thanks

Not sure what he he has now as you cannot get a 30 day extension on a Non O Visa.

Anyway he can do a border run and get a 30 day exempt OR go to a Thai Embassy/Consulate in a neighboring country and get a Tourist Visa.

I knew someone would mention that. I can confirm that he has a 30 day extention as i went to Cambodia with him. The officer at the desk noticed his Non O visa had expired, but his stamp hadn't, she gave him a 30 day stamp. Regardless of that my question was about obtaining a tourist visa.

Regardless of that my question was about obtaining a tourist visa.

a Tourist visa is issued at a consulete, outside of thailand, and ya nearest one most people use is laos, theres a thread on here thats got lots of current upto date info from many on here!

well, i have not had a "non o" so im only guessing on this, but i would assume he would be able to do 3x 30 day border runs "visa excempt???

not sure, but cant see why not, when i get a tourist visa, then i extend, then i do 3 x 30 border runs, but not had a non o, sorry,

  5. 1st exempt stamp - March 9 to April 7 - departed Thailand on April 6

    2nd stamp April 6 to May 5 - departed on May 4

    3rd stamp May 4 to June 2nd - Overstayed 2 days - departed on June 4th.

Toursit Visa - June 5th to August 3rd.

That is where I am at now.

well you can get 30 days at immigration as you earlier sujested "on Monday and pay 1900 baht for another 30 days. Would I have to pay the 500 overstay fee on top of that.

yes 500 a day, ive been before on a monday and they havent charged this, so you may get lucky same same ????

all that 90 out of 180 days dosnt apply to you as you are on a tourist visa.

    chris

  6. Thanks for the info...

I heard from someone that once you get your tourist visa, your 90 day count starts over. I don't think that is true. Does anyone know about this?

I started my visa exemption runs on March 9 and accumulated 88 days within 3 months. I then got a tourist visa which I am under now, that will expire today. I would like to do a border run, but not sure how the border people will handle this.

I have been told by Mario they will stamp me for 2 days only. Will they give me a stamp if I show proof of my onward travel to the US on August 11th?

Thanks so much for your help.

its a bit unclear to as what you actully have thats why mario is saying ony 2 days and extention of 7!!!

if you have a "tourist visa" not visa exemt wich it sounds to me like you have you can get 30 days at imigration as tou sujest, then do 3x border runs, that you taken care of for 4 months.

further info if you need it and to make sure we give you 100% advice put all ya dates etc (no personal stuff) on here.

    cheers

  8. Thanks for everyone's contributions on this great thread. I shall be doing this visa run soon. The last time I did it was over 10 years ago so I'm sure procedures have changed. I will keep my questions concise and to the point.

    1. Normally a rot dtoo is available from Udon airport to the border. It costs 150 B per person. It 'meets' the Air Asia flight that comes in at 5:15 pm. However, does this run on a Saturday?

    2. If transport from Udon airport to the border is unavailable, how do I cheaply get from Udon airport to Udon downtown?

    3. Apart from photos, a completed application form, (an air ticket out of Thailand) and 1000 Baht, what else is required to obtain a single-entry tourist visa?

    4. Where can I get a blank tourist visa application form that will be accepted by the Thai embassy in Vientiane? The food vendors? Online?

    5. If time is not an issue, what time is best to turn up at the embassy to avoid ridiculous queues? I could happily spend a week in Vientiane.

    6. Can anyone recommend a hotel/guesthouse for no more than 400 Baht? No air-con or frills required. Prefer to have own bathroom.

Thanks in advance for any useful info. I shall post a trip report as 'pay back' when the trip is completed.

"Normally a rot dtoo is available" No idea what one of them is,

you can get a mini bus, to any hotel in udon for peanuts, about 80 bhat or somthing, book in airport doorway!

"Apart from photos, a completed application form, (an air ticket out of Thailand) and 1000 Baht, what else is required to obtain a single-entry tourist visa?"

youll need photos for entry/visa into laos, then some more for thai embassy, 1000 bhat, i got a x2 tourist and it was 2000 bhat, take your bank book as proof of funds just in case (ive just come back and i was not asked) people on here have reported they have been asked.

blank forms are avilible at consulte, just ask someone when there, the food vendors have gone mad with prices so my advice at this moment is dont use them unless time is an issue (yours appers not to be).

"If time is not an issue, what time is best to turn up" i would say a tuesday/ wednesday morning best bet, i personally went monday as it was my last day, and i thought of the ques but was gonna use an agent but had a nervous breakdown when they showed me the fees menu!!!

tuesday, wednesday, for not as busy as monday (most buisness's etc) and if ther is a prob lem you can go back thursday and still get back friday so no need to stay over weekend, agin if time and money are issues!

"Can anyone recommend a hotel/guesthouse for no more than 400 Baht?" tuks tuks were offering a lot of dicount hotels, i seem to remember 500 bhat bieng mentioned, but you can ask them as i think they get commision so they should be helpfull, however a lot of new hotels springing up at side of river with this boom of visa runners, so maybe an hours walk may bring fruit.

"Thanks in advance for any useful info. I shall post a trip report as 'pay back' when the trip is completed"

tell you what, (dont take this the wrong way) a budget guide maybe very usefull, as many on here and friends, have problems with finances, or need to take care with finances at differenr times of monthes etc!

  9. just a quck update as much has been covered on here by many.

just on my way back from vientiene, where to be fair it wasnt as good as previuos experience's ive had.

i really wanted to go on the new train that takes you over the mekong, could i get on? no-one at the udon airport kows anything about it, same with taxis and bus's tour guides and in udon thani!

didnt see it, on the way there or back, no-one seems to know about it in vientine either, maybe its still for the elite, dont know!

my last vist was deceber 2007, that's maybe 8 months ago, and has it changed, everything is guess a price, and too much, taxis tuk. tuks, youve really got to be good at, (forgot the word but basically) haggiling, with everyone.

got to the consulte on a monday morning when i know to stay away, but i have a plan b, was there for about 9/ 9.30 ish and was it busy, jes, i was with a mate id met on journey and he was queing, i tried to explain that he would be better with me paying an agent a small fee and let them take care of it while we sampled some beer laos, he decieded for que, and i went and saw my agent and he explained that since last year the price from 200/300ish bhat had gone up a little due to, too many people, gas going up, and my aunt flo's pension bieng stopped, to 5,500 bhat.

so anyway, im in the que with my mate, and it was 12.00 before we left!!

on the way out however, just outside the gates again was approached only this time he could get our visa back that afternoon for 4,000 bhat??

i didnt need it as i had booked an extra day in case there was problems, but mybe handy for futre info!

the next day on my return i left it until 2.30 to collect as i wanted to miss the hoards of people going and i did notice a sign of it bieng closed for 2 days, next week i think, it was sothing like thursday and friday for i think the queens/ queens daughters birthday???? i was gonna write it down but forgot, sorry!!

now i thought it said 18th and 19th but thats a mon/tue, so best check if ya off soon.

ok so thats it, everyone seemed to be getting what they wanted, as ref x2 no problems, one guy who told me he was going for "diplomat visa" didnt laugh when i explain if he shot everyone in the que we could walk to front, and he wouldnt get done, well he got his whatever it actully was refused, i laughed!

one more little thing, there were hords of black people getting some abuse for pushing in, now mybe this is the case, the police were called to stop one argument, but i think on the whole they maybe 20 of them, but they seemed to be taking it in turns to sit down go out etc, as we did, and we built up a bit of a laugh in the que so everyone took care of everyones bag etc, but the arguments were on, and for no other reason in my opinion, that the ques were too long, and reading on here there used to it, so it should be more geared up, the heat is very hot and they dont have any fans or water at hand or anything to try help, then when youve been throught all that you have to que inside an office to pay, and its not just a que they shout ya name out and if youre outside cos its too full inside they onto next one, joke really when you think mcdonalds are far more organised!

Anyways loved vientiene again, pity its trying very hard to rip ya off but thats the way the world is, but very glad to have ma visa and back in thailand.

  10. Poster appears to be talking about Muang and using public transport. Believe Nong Khai is the direction for him to go. The air distance is 240km to both locations but to Nong Khai there are major highways almost direct. To Arun there are not. And public transport to Arun would be much more difficult to find.

poster asks many questions, one off

"I'm currently in Chaiyaphum in Isaan, what's the best option for the fastest run, cross over and come back."

i gave my opinion as everyone has in a helpfull manner, it might not be correct, it might not suit him, it might not suit anybody, it was my opinion from what my mate does, i did say i dont know the roads/ itenary bus's whatever.

i supplied a map for his reference, and a link of somone who has been off here.

    and again

"We drove to Korat the other week, it took us about 1.5 hours in the car from where we are, we live near Chaiyaphum city, 10 mins away in a village"

is that reply directly cos i wrote

"chaiyapum is a big massive area, my mate lives in place called chat yurat (i think) so he's about an hour from korat"

so i said about an hour, you corrected me to say abou 1.5 hours, are you in chat yurat?

    Thanks for your input

    chris

    Chris

Thanks for your input, I wasn't correcting you merely stating from where we live it takes 1.5 hours to get to Korat in the car.

I've been to the bus station in Chaiyaphum, there are several it appears, I went to the one that deals with routes up to the North East.

They have a direct bus to Nong Khai, it's 250 baht you have to ask for ticket number 2 and the bus leaves from bay 3. Figures.

It takes 6 hours, glad I've got my Sony PSP with me!

    Leaves Chaiyaphum:

    06:00

    08:00

    10:00

    12:00

    14:00

    Leaves Nong Khai:

    07:00

    09:00

    11:00

    13:00

    15:00

Hope some one else picking this thread up later might find this information helpful,

sorry for that, its just the way it looked to me when you follow the posts down, and i had hadnt had a drink then, :o but im fine now, had 6 big beer laos at side of mekong river, and im ready to rock an role!

    again sorry for that chaps

  14. Hello

I am due to do my first visa run next month, it says in my Passport 24 August 2008.

    I am on a 12 month non-o visa.

I'm currently in Chaiyaphum in Isaan, what's the best option for the fastest run, cross over and come back.

I suspect I will have stay over 1 night if its too much to do all in one day.

Should I go to Laos or Burma? I would probably get the bus rather than drive myself.

I also need to know the name of the actual border town I should be going to. I understand I should be able to get a visa for Laos or Burma at their borders.

    Chaiyaphum Province Map:

    Thailand_Chaiyaphum.png

    Many Thanks, for any advice...

just looking at rest of posts and maybe right go laos, good nightlife etc,

"what's the best option for the fastest run, cross over and come back.

chaiyapum is a big massive area, my mate lives in place called chat yurat (i think) so he's about an hour from korat and if he needs to go lil, lil, and back he goes to aranyaprathet border, think hes about 3/4 hours and hes there, from chaiya he's only 5/6 hours from pattaya, so maybe better roads that way dont know!

    http://map.longdo.com/longdomap

bit more on aranyaprathet below, over a year old so a little bit out of date, i dont think its as busy now as many now go to the nearer one at ban leam, but gives a good insight!
