However, there are times you can ask, and this example is one of them. Basically, if the destination is on a normal run for that direction, but not 100 percent guaranteed. Some of them will turn at Pattaya Klang, it is OK to ask if going to Big C.

    and the reply "100 bhat!"

  2. I have had the carvery at Jamiesons twice and would not return - absolutely awful

Had the Roast Beef at Caddy Shack Yesterday for the 2nd week running - lovely :o , AND for 175 THB - good VFM.

I have also on occasion had the Carvery next door in Harley Bar, no complaints, nice fodder, the roasties are done to perfection but no Yorkshire Pud

I get good reports about the Sportsmans carvery - I think its about 350 THB though - but I have not tried it myself

totally agree about jamesons, about a year ago was very difficult to beat, the serving staff changed and all down hill since!

if you ask for a yorkshire pud, face hits floor followed by tongs with "go sit down well bring it" and to be fair they do bring it, when youve finished eating!

nice bar, nice waiting serving staff all let down by the servery guy really!

but go things might be ok now, staff come and go!

sunday carvery, best in the big p, gotta be sportsman soi 13, food great, staff great, portions massive, never had or heard a complaint! bit pricy last time was 425 bhat i think! but worth it!

Now Tropical berts, opposite bankok bank on your way to big c on 2nd road, good food all round, never had a carvery (not sure if they do) but his portions and quality seconed to none. thats as english as ya can get!

and if ya little tummys full they even do a doggy bag for ya!

prices good too cos you eat at jamesons and a hieniken will cost about 100 bhat, tropical berts about 75, same as bars! well worth a visit, and if yave got a mum, ya can buy her a t set as a pressie like i did!

shenanigans was good last time i was there but the wait was a long one!

killkenny walking street very good when i was last there, but not been for a while, def worth a visit!

  3. so there is hardly a heavy metal (now I mean 80s metal with like Tommy Vance famous Friday Rock Show in BBC) or any real 70s rock shows?? on any of these pattaya stations??????????

gerry did you try a sneeky plug!!!!!!!!!! bad boy!

    see ya later mate.

  4. I am shifting to Pattaya for 3 months begining of August and need a one bedroom apartment in a quiet area, it is for my wife and myself, we are a "Farang" couple who own our own properties at home and know how to look after a place.

I work offshore and will be absent for 50% of the time so the apartment must have good security, be close to transport, pool, pleasant surroundings (greenery for she who must be obeyed),  TV (UBC), and Internet would be nice.

I know there are any amount of web site listings available but offer the opportunity  to any TH.Visa viewers interested in considerate tenants.

depends on your budget really rich, but a good allrounder is nova park next door to jamesons, good quit area has pool nice place but about 15,000 a month studio sep bed room or 2 about 30,000.

good location for her big c nice 10 min walk, good for you, when shes at big c soi 6 10 min walk!

best advice i would say is book in a hotel for a few days and have a good look round to suit you both and ya budgets etc!

    good luckmate!

  5. Searching TV, Googeling internet, telephoning around 15 hotels in KL; NO LUCK.

I apologize if this is not the place to post this but from the sub-forums it is THE most suitable one.

I am going to KL for the visa renewal and need a hotel WITH WIRELESS INTERNET IN THE ROOM. It seems that only the most expensive ones provide WI FI and this seems a bit astonishing. Is Malaysia this much behind the rest of the world in technology???

I am an owner of a guest-house in Pattaya and my guesthouse is in the price range of 400 - 700 b / night, and I know that around me there are many same range hotels and guest houses that, as do I, DO provide free WI FI for the customers.

Instead KL you spend minimum on 150 RM per night to have this facility.

Anyone know any hotel in KL under 150, preferrably under 100 RM, with WI FI?

hans, when i went, i went with airasia. com and when ya look on website instead of checking flights ya can check packages, once on here it gives about 15 or so hotels they offer, now click one of them and it shows hotels detail, how many rooms etc resteraunts etc location and maybe wi fi mate, worth a look.

incidently, maybe check then with hotel direct cos i stayed 5 mins walk from the petronas towers and it was 20 mins on a skytrain!

there is a big hotel over road from embassy but it did look v. expensive.

    best of look mate!

  6. Our holiday itinery will be mostly dictated by drinking and all that goes with it - but also want things to do in the day like snorkling, golf, fishing trip, boat trip, hire bikes jeep etc. We have 7 nights.

is phuket going to be a mistake?

in phuket you can get all... you're looking for....i suggest you patong... :o

In my opinion (not a good one) but phucket is a mini pattaya, having said that, if you aint been i would def go,go, (thats a pun) samui is very nice an ya can escape up mountains on bikes etc, but youve done that.

I love pattaya, but youve been, so me thinks try phucket, and try im not sure if ya can get a boat accross but try get krabi cos all that area is really nice, but you will miss the patong nightlife if ya stayed there.

as for weather on this fourum is a weather guide some where just check a day or 2 before ya come.

wherever ya end up have a good one, and a must is the islands trips off phucket, phi phi (i think) and james bond, maya beech etc once in a lifetime job!

    good luck!

  7. Will be funny to see what the new sponsor will be :o

not sure on this but i thinks maybe a airline sponser maybe air asia thai air malay etc, and im sure branson was on about comming here this year direct flights to bkk from manchester, cos nothing direct flight north of england!

whatever one things for sure mr t has got the deal done already, cos he aint thick, he might make mistakes (and big ones) but a clever man indeed!

  8. Hi all ,

has anyboby on the board here ever gone to Phnom Penn in Cambodia and applied for a Thai Tourist Visa.

    Q. Can in be processed overnight. ( submit at thai embassy in the morning and receive next day AM. )

It's just that some places you have to stay 2 nights & others only 1 night. I am not familar with Phnom Penn.

    eg :

    KL can do overnight

    Singapore can do overnight

    Penang is 2 nights

    Phnom Penn ?

    thanks for any advise :o

    steven.

pp refused me a tourist, 30 day is ok but really unhelpfull, pennang is def no1 place in my mind and is only 1 night provided you go mon to thursday before 12 (maybe even 11.30) air asia cheap as chips arrive pennang taxi to embassy/ consulate hand it in next day approx2pm pick it up then get outa there flyback about 5 ithink, job done!

by they way 1 night is enough anyway its a horrible place even the people who live there call it the island of rats!

    good luck!

  9. so we got the crazy dave thing done, what about the 125 Baht for a coke! thought your neck of the woods was supposed to be cheaper than mine (phuket!)

by the way yes it was a agogo bar , but it was early and the beer was only 59 Baht!

see you rememberd the beer price, thats, thats job done, and thats why the coke was expensive!

most blokes drink beer but coke is normally headin for the laidies, and your a paying!

but i would have thought sameish in phucket, no?

  10. Sorry if this is going over old ground but can someone please give me some info.

I've got to go and do a visa run this weekend for a three month visa in preperation for getting a buissness one. Has anyone had any problems going to Laos to get this, lawyer reckons it's best to go to Singapore but being a tight Jock it's cheeper to go to Laos.

Any help advice would be appreciated.

    Davie

davie lad, sorry mate not on same type of visa as you, but it would appear over the last week every tends to still be saying pennang is the place to go and ive been they are very helpfull but you can ring pennang and loas, the phone nos should be pinned above this somewhere mate but if not google them!

    best of!

  11. I get a strong signal from Hello Wi-Fi. When I connect I get the attached Login Screen.

I tried to call the number but nobody is answering.

Has anybody experience with this service and know the costs?

I called there yesterday. Price is 1070 Baht per Month. When I am interessted I should call again and they will send a driver who brings the username and password.

Anyone did it? Is the speed and connection ok?

arnt there any cafes or bars with free wifi in that area you can log into??

  12. Is it because a certain group of farangs are upset that this particular group of Thais, the hi-so or the Thai-Chinese, don't "worship" the Farangs as "white gods" the same way the lower-classed Thais do?

Or, is it painful for a farang from the "wealthy west" to come to Asia thinking he's richer than everyone here, only to find out in the end that there are actually "real live Asians" who are much much richer than him?

    BINGO!

Many Farang are bitter against anyone with more money than themselves, especially Thai's.

Times are changing folks, long gone are the days of European world domination, Asia is on the rise and Europe is getting into a real mess, Great Britain once had a mighty Empire, The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians also had their day, but they are all long gone.

It seems it's the Asians who will be the future dominant force, and many Farang just can't hack it. especially those from ex powerhouse, Great Britain.

Oh, here we go again with the Brit-bashing... :o

Speaking as a Brit, but also for myself (as I can't presume to speak for anyone else, be they my countrymen or not) I have no problem with people having more money or power than me, be they Thai, Chinese-Thai, Malaysian, Indian or from any other Asian nation. I also don't mind them having more if they're European, American, Australian or even Martian. I personally do not take much notice of race or nationality, because as Jet said, you get nice people & jerks from every country in the world.

One thing I would not do is criticise people simply because of their nationality, like you have just done, Creeper. Makes you wonder who really has the problem with others, doesn't it?

Here, Here! "Ex Power house", She seems to be doing ok to me!

  13. Hi anyone on here in england yesterday, bieng a (filthy) smoker am keen to know how everyone accepted the ban.

There were reports of people not going to conform etc and i thought its not a day to be a policeman with a law like that around!

or anyone spoke to families back home???

  14. but can anybody answer my q.

Yes. You will need two receivers (and cards) in order to "sit in the livingroom and watch one program, and in the bedroom watching something different."

if your watching sports on tv ((ubc/true etc)in the front room, who will be in the bedroom and what will they want to watch?

lets presume its a thai person in the bedroom, you might find its sophon cable they watch anyway, so best ask.

so if they say sophon ok for them in bedroom, now lets just think well maybe you now want to watch sports in the bedroom all you now need is a cable from said front room to bedroom.

If this hasnt helped at all its time to ask they guy who will be fitting your set, most sky time engineers around the world are full of good ideas if you know what i mean.

    best o luck.

  15. Hi,you can use 5 star visa runs, they are located at the Sportsman pub on soi 13.there runs arn't bad at all, they leave Pattaya at 06.45 and arrive at the border at around 10.30.and normaly always back in Pattaya by 3pm,they take care of all the paperwork for you, provide breakfast before leaving Pattaya and on board lunch after checked back into Thailand.have minbus for smokers and non smokers, the minibus's are modern and quite spacious, normaly not more than 6 passengers. The more you use them they give a discount on further visa runs.Better to go and book a few days before you want to go to be sure of a seat.price 2.400 baht inclusive of border fees and breakfast lunch etc.Take one passport size photo with you, they will copy your passport and put your details on the computor,so if you use them more they have details already.Soi 13 off the beach road.....

Totally agree with this post, have been with others that Even pick you up at your hotel, Total waste of time you spend 2 hours running around pattaya waiting for people who are still in bed etc!

If yave been here 20 years try get seat in the front and learn ya way there i did, so if i go i hire a car and call of at ko chang for a few days then its somthing to look forward to rather than a bad day!

just one more on the sportsman, not sure if still going on but you used to get a free pint on your return as well!

    best of luck

  16. I dont really mean to come across as a crusader for eagle, im sure eagle can handle himself well enough, i just feel that there are so many people around at times who seem quicker to berate and get angry in this forum. Points may be valid, but does it really warrent such dramatic reactions. ?

Anyway..i dont mean to offend anyone here.

Wish you well with this eagle. All the best.

Thank you for your kind words eek. I am used to handle my life. I just felt hurt - which is normal when you love somebody.

Also I just got the information that the engagement for the porn movie has been taken by my b/f even before we met and he just did not cancel it afterwards. Meanwhile he feels very sad because he understands my distress. Time to turn the page and to look ahead.

as some other posts have said, i really dont think he will be thinking of this as mutch as you, it is an industry here to have sex (inc filmung etc) for money, most taxi drivers and motor bikes will have sex with another man for money, but probobly only 20% are gay, its just a money thing here, maybe the more you mention it to him might be rubbing it in, just try forget it same we all like to do when we done somthing were not really proud of.

Good luck and i hope everything works out for you both.

  17. I went to the Sizzler yesterday at the Royal Garden in Pattaya... So I go up to the salad bar, and do my usual routine, which starts with feeling the stacks of salad plates, trying to find one that isn't near boiling temperature. Nothing worse than putting cold salad items on a HOT plate... Yuch. I found one that was sort of close to room temperature. I believe I can go around the salad bar there faster than anyone. I can do it all in less than 60 seconds. Even if it's crowded, I can still do it in around 60 seconds. I don't wait... if someone else is getting say quail eggs at the same time, I just put my tongs right in there.

I pick up one pair of "tongs", and use it all the way around, so I don't have to waste valuable time at each item.

In any event, I'm going around, figuring I'll be close to the 60 second mark, and one guy seemed real slow... he basically had two speeds: slow, and stop. But I managed, and sat down and consumed my salad items. After about five minutes, I decide to glance up and see what kind of activity is going on at the nearby salad bar... and lo and behold, the slow guy IS STILL THERE, going around, item by item, trying to make the perfect salad plate. Then, I become fascinated with this guy, and I watch him, another minute or so later, make his way back to his table, where the server ALREADY delivered his combo platter... that's how <deleted>' slow the guy was... and he had probably been at the salad bar a few minutes before I first saw him.

Go time yourself with a stopwatch... five minutes is a LONG time to go around one little salad counter. I'm thinking, "what kiind of person would be willing to spend that much time at a salad bar"...

Moderator: I recommend you close this thread right after posting, as I can't think of anything more anyone could add that could be of interest... Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not real optimistic about the prospects of this thread reaching "legend" status.

i darent reply, cos i was taking the mick about you and shopping trolleys earlier, which i was told off which was ment as fun and i appologised for that to you but that was removed aswell, so here it is again, sorry was just a joke weho

  18. Cheers for the quick responses fellas, much appreciated :D Think 2nd road is where i'll be heading, just checked out Tropical Bert's site, looks good ! I'll be there on Friday night so if you see a dazed and confused Yorkie (that's before I start on the Chang) just point me in the right direction :D

Too right! lots of yorkies here mate, there is a bar on pattaya klang (just off) called elland road bar, worth a photo!

  19. I would say that if he punched anyone in the face first then he deserved to get beat up.

too true, someone punches ya, ya try ya hardest to knock the living daylights out of em, and, they not only deserve it but expect it! as you would!

I had a few run ins in the uk when i was younger and always had a jolly good kicking in a cell or van from a few coppers, but i asked for it, got it and then it was dropped by me and them, just part of growing up!

you might not like police (i dont) but there the first ones we call when theres a problem! and i coundnt do thier job but im glad they do it!

  20. The season seems like it finished 6 months ago. :o

  21. I am travelling to Nong Khai/Laos tomorrow (friday) with a group from Khon Kaen, most of them are on 30 day entry stamps, does anyone have first hand information with regard to the onward ticket rule being enforced at the Nong Khai Friendship Bridge?

I came back on sunday (last) not a thing mentioned, but if you read most of the visa posts about baan leam (daung) at cambodia border i think you book a minibus for about 200 bhat but dont get on it.

Just on that i bought a sleeve of marlboros lights that ya cant smoke! sum numb na!

    good luck!
