    ???what's real life?????

dont you remember? getting up at daft o clock inthe morning sittingin a que in ya car with all other robots on m1, workin till 9.30 when someone says ok now all eat and drink tea then work till 12 and get told to eat again etc, just to pay ya bills, thats what i was reffering to, and people still do it!

    each to thier own!

  2. Please could anyone help me out here, as i dont have an ounce of romance in my body! I want to take my Thai girlfriend of the last 4 years out on the town when my first pay check arrives on the 27th. now being new to the big city . i havent got a clue where to go.

So any ideas? it will probadly be on a monday or wednesday night as i work evenings 6 nights a week, she loves Thai Issan food, but is also partial to any farang food. We use to live on Samui so i guess sea food is out? Live music, nice settings, Buffet food, shopping centers, anything you guys can think of will be greatly reviewed and tested in most cases! also if any of you guys run bars or restaurants i will check them out in the course of the next few weeks, or maybe untill my wages run out!!! :o

    Thanks Kevbap

    :D

ps bangkok bobs website was quite usefull, so ant other web pages to recommend would be most welcome.

not from bangkok, so dont know my way around but was there 2 weeks ago on silom road cant remember the name of the complex but had about 6/7 resturants all in a garden type setting with a music/ dance (not disco) stage show, was very good.

on the right hand side of silom road down towards the river end.

food good, staff good, music good, not too loud, not exspsieve and when they shut they waited about an hour for us, def go again.

  3. What's the point of this post then if you already state your opinion in the title and sub-title?

Another Neils Colov bashathon maybe? I am sure he really worries about them.

Expat clubs serve a purpose and those that attend regularly may be after more than just a free breakfast. If one choses to use other methods to socialise in Pattaya, then that's your choice too.

Good observation that a lot of useful advice can be gleaned from the pages of TV. You can also flame and discount other participants as stupid, ignorantt and useless, all from the complete anonymity of your computer. Now, where is the fun in that?

In the end, nobody is forcing you to go and pad Mr Colov's bank account is there?

Its horses for courses, i meet a lot of people and it is one of many places i advise people to go, its not my cup of tea either, but they are adults let them be the judge, not forgetting there are about 300 people go weekly!

as for the boss 2 things

1 profit is not a dirty word!

2 he does his more than fair share of charity work ok he gets on tv a lot so what, would you want to do it? me? not on your nelly!

    fun fun out!

  4. Best pal in the industry points his fingers at mayo every time. Hot climate, mayo left out, whamo.

I totally concur with that. The mayonaisey stuff should also be avoided cause it's simply not healthy, and in my mind, doesn't even taste good.

And cross-contamination, by infected people handling ladels, then rubbing their eyes, nose, scratching, open sores, crotch, etc., then touching another ladel... It would be best to bring some disposible thin plastic gloves to a buffet/salad bar situation.

ANOTHER ABSOLUTE GEM WEHO,BUT PLEASE TELL ME "PLASTIC GLOVES" THAT WAS A JOKE YEAH?????????

    A joke? Well, what's funnier:

    1. plastic gloves at a buffet/salad bar

    or...

    2. a week and 40,000 baht in the hospital, the worst 30 minutes of your life, "Spin art", cramps, fever, etc?

Be sure to read the current headline article on TV's home page about FOOD POISIONING here...

Oh, and remember to wash your hands frequently... and when exiting a restroom door, DON'T touch that filthy doorknob with your just cleaned hands... grab a towel, toilet paper, or even your sleeve or shirt, and use THAT to open the door... or you can do what I do, which is wait for someone else to come in or out, and "piggy back" out the bathroom door with them... DON'T TOUCH THAT DOOR KNOB!

weho, you dont say if your a bloke or a bird, ok, so how do you dress?

so maybe you dress 50/50, in a gents toilet, piggy backing someone, whilst having rubber gloves on, grabing a knob, or two, and you offer this advice!! hee heee heee, no wonder you get into some scrapes, you silly little tinker!

    fun fun out.

  5. I've never had food poisioning in Thailand... I'm a bit more paranoid/careful than most, but I'm well aware that is no guarantee that I can't get it. If you ever got some kind of food poisioning here in Pattaya, please tell us where. Of course, just because someone had a past bad experience doesn't mean the restaurant is still bad...

Here an example of the kind of reply I would hope you would make... (of course I'm really hoping no one replies, meaning no one ever got sick here)... but just in case, here's an example of a reasonable writing style for a reply:

SAMPLE: "About a year ago, I went with a prostitute I just picked up on Walking Street, and we went to XYZ Restaurant... we each ordered different things. She ordered some pasta, and was fine... I was feeling for Scottish food, so I ordered haggis... I know I got sick from the haggis, cause I had nothing else to eat there. When I got back to my 2 star hotel room, let's just say I had the worst thirty minutes of my life... ever hear of "spin art"? Maybe it was a diseased goat, or maybe the scrapple just wasn't fresh... While in Thailand, I am now very cautious about ordering Scottish dishes. Especially haggis."

Right then, didnt get food poisoning cos didnt eat the muck, was at ali babas Famous curry house pat klang, ordered and got curry and chips, came in 2 bowls hate that, so got a plate turned my chips out of bowl onto plate so i can pour curry all over chips and if the chips wasnt already covered in tomato sos and salt etc, theyed bin on someone else's plate, i wasnt very happy but niether were they cos it got a bit loud!!!

"While in Thailand, I am now very cautious about ordering curry dishes. Especially currys."

    "

  6. PM affirms it is still unnecessary to declare the Emergency Decree

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont indicates that it is still unnecessary to declare the Emergency Decree if demonstrators do not violate the laws.

The Prime Minister has requested demonstrators to take action under legal regulations. As for the rumor on his assassination, Gen. Surayud says he is not worried and has never heard of such news.

Meanwhile, state policemen are making an effort to ensure security for the Prime Minister.

Update all bars that were closed can now open fri 15th tommorow, soi 6 corner bar is having a party still 17th sunday and for the rest no ones really sure, but over the next 3/4 days they should be a few. 3 angels bar has had some revamp work done and party is either friday or saturday.

What time does the party start funfun?

Most partys start at the same time more or less as soon as its dark, the the real party time is when your mow!!!

Just look for balloons (is that spelt right?) and the girls drinking whiskey!

SUNDAY should be better cos all should be back to 100% staff etc, but most back open now!

  11. just opened it and cleaned the lense with alcohol and a q tip. if you know any bins where people toss these things, let me know cause they're easy as anything to fix

Freds recon dvd player specialist, sales, service, repairs within 1 hour or your alcohol back!

fred youv got me looking around now to see what ive got brocken! but its not a problem ill find somthing when i come home mow and take somthing to bits!

  12. This is good news because since all those bars closed, I had no idea where to find a drink in town... I walked from soi to soi, but no luck... couldn't find a cocktail anywhere... no bars anywhere... I hope I can make it to June 17...

weho, i dont think soi 6 is your cup of tea!!!!! although they do have a bar on the soi that specialises in COCKtails!!

but it might be a possible venue for your 2008 xmas do, but one might have to buy a new outfit not wanting to be outdone down the soi!!

    over to you!

the christmas do has definately been postponed until at least 2009, maybe... and that was really clever you you wrote the word "cocktails" in both CAPS and non-caps... with attendees with that kind of wit, no doubt the party will be SOME FUN!

So what time, where at, what are you gonna wear and......................are you bringing the Hot Hot Hot guitarist!!!!

sorry about the caps and NON CAPS but you can think about that every time when you buy 16 bats worth of rice you say NON CAP CHECK BIN!

  13. It didn't take me long to figure out that most of the TV'ers like a drink or two, so perhaps this may be of interest!

I recently came across a bar located in Jomtein called The Fantasy Bar, perhaps some of you know it already but I'm told it's only been open a few months. Because of the name, I entered hesitantly not knowing whether or not I would be tied up, tickled to death or pounced upon by latex/pvc clad saucy female staff, but alas it would appear that it's called 'fantasy bar' because their beer is unbelievebly cheap (hurraahh!)

Every beer on the menu is 40 Baht per bottle, with the exception of 'Archa Beer' which is served in big bottle and retails for the princely sum of 60 Baht. Whilst I am no conneisuer, a fair selection of wines are also at hand, each at.... you've guessed it ... 40 Baht per large glass.

Large leather sofas, air conditioning, not-so loud music and attentive (no-hassle) female staff makes it an ideal break from the norm and a chance to chat with friends and drink almost twice as much as you would usually! Greeattt!!

Perhaps Weho, owing to his incredibly thrifty nature and 'tighter than an otter's pocket' code of morals can pop along there and give us an independant review?

hes saving up for a xmas at the mo he wants his first car, its the driving lessons that will be fun, can you drive eat a bowl of 16 bhat rice and type at the same time in the fantasy bar!

  14. I need a cheap car, but reliable for short drives, that has good air conditioning, is automatic... any info on this Wingroad? I see them all over...

How much are they in Thailand, new? Is there a deluxe model??? i doubt it... any info appreciated!

And what about a USED one? what's the story on that?

weho from reading your posts you do get around, (i put that nice) but parking up in pattaya and bkk is not easy, if your not maybe gonna use it that much after youve had a run around maybe just hire one 5 days a month say 600 bhat a day =2,900 but someone else is paying for the taxes and tyres and sevicing etc.

and if you need one maybe hire one that you like already like this "wingroad" (i never heard of one) for a week or so and make sure it does everything you need of it!

i keep hiring toyota vios, only small good on juice auto central locking nippy and good on a run ideal for me but maybe not everyone.

Eh and dont forget to do a report on the ones you try out, i wont get into colours yet with ya!

p.s. if you do hire a car for a few days and ya like it you might be able to buy it after cos its low season and money is thin on the ground.

    keep us posted!!

  16. You leave your passport with somebody else for months at a time ?

When was the last time you saw it and looked at it ?

Did you check the stamps and perhaps notice that the last page used was a little close to the back cover ?

    It's not your fault.

    It's your mother's fault.

She should have known better than let you leave home on your own.

she was with him, well sort of, just getting him an ice cream actully!

well stick to sucking apples in the back of taxis, having said that 112 bhat is quite a saving!!!! now if youd have offered the bus driver somthing to suck on maybe you wouldnt have took 5 hours to get home, silly!
