Yeah, I went to the rimping market yesterday and found some pepperoni at 80b and something that looks like prosciuto at 140b for 100g, pre packed.I agree with meatboy. All the Tesco sausages here are Chinese dried sausages.

They are sweet, God knows what's in them and they don't need refrigeration.
The best place for European style dried meats/sausages etc is either Central food floor Chidlom and other branches, Siam Paragon food floor, Emporium Food store, Foodland or Villa Market. Once again. you will find most of these places quite expensive.
The best place I've found yet is at the Ragu, an italian restaurant in the promenada mall, in Chiang Mai, they have real prosciuto at 88b/100g and a bunch of other good deli meats that they cut for you, as well as a lot of good cheeses.

I heard its because of a new police chief in town but it will settled in a week or so, at least that's what a ladyboy told my friend.

It looks like there's a lot of internet gaming shops but they're all playing on PCs not Xbox/Playstation. I saw a place in Bangkok called Gamover that has all the above... are there not many Xbox/Playstation gamers in Chiang Mai? Let me know if you find something.
Will do.. I have less than a month before the release of halo, someone somewhere must have an xbox one, I have one at home but didn't want to bring it since I'll be moving a lot around east asia.

What you tried was Chinese sausage. OK in its place, but no substitute for salami.
You're not going to find decent charcuterie in the big supermarkets. You need TOPS, Villa or similar for that.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Idk what is villa but thanks I just found out there a TOPS that deliver in chiang mai and they have real cured meat, not a lot of choice and expensive but I'll give it a try, and they have jack links beef jerky, awesome.

When I first came in thailand I went to the tesco and saw some sausages that looked like salami or italian cured sausage, although expensive I was really happy that they had some here, until I tasted it, It was awful, it was sweet, fatty, juicy and had a weird texture like it fermented in sugar, since it was expensive and they all looked the same, I never tried any again, but I just thought I could ask you guys, do any of you know any sausages that are salty, NOT sweet and taste somehow like real cured sausage like this: https://www.google.co.th/search?q=cured+sausage&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=947&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIkersyqmXyAIVykCOCh3SYwOa
you can find the tesco sausages here: (I am actually making an order right now) http://shoponline.tescolotus.com/en-GB/Product/BrowseProducts?taxonomyId=Cat00001278
Also, do anyone know if this is any good, and salty, not sweet (I am a big fan of beef, pork, turkey jerky): http://shoponline.tescolotus.com/en-GB/ProductDetail/ProductDetail/6017377579
Thanks!

If you pay the bill at 7 eleven it will be government rates so you can relax. If you pay at management office they will make a profit on you so make sure you get the gov bill. It should be no more than 4-5 baht per kw.
I pay around 1500 baht monthly for my condo here in Pattaya area. With one AC on at night.
.
Yeah if I pay at the 7-eleven I figured it would be government rates, we have 2 AC and 3 laptops running 60% of the time, I don't mind having a 4000-5000 bill but not 9000.

It might be a good idea to make note of your meter reading on your move-in day.
Yep, I always take a picture as well.
-
Ok thanks guys, I am moving tomorrow in my new appartment, its like a triplex, there no pool, gym or elevator and the lady told me I had to pay at 7-eleven and its the government rate, I guess I'll see when I get there.
-
Government rate in condos is 3.75 bht per kilowatt . they are ripping you off keep looking you may find an honest owner.
The other guy in the thread says that government charge 7-8 baht for appartments which is what I found yet, even though I'd prefer a house which he said was 3-4 baht per kwh for a house. If its always like that, it really change ny view on house vs condos/appartments price.
-
They were padding your bill in Samui. The government rate for apartments is 7 baht, or something close to that. Apartment managers like to add a % on top of that.
The rate for houses is 3.5, or so. I have a 3-story, 4 bedroom townhouse. I pay on average 1500 baht. Get a house!
The difference you pay in electric for an apartment, plus what the manager adds, plus having your electric get tapped by someone, plus the added stress of the noisy neighbors, plus crappy internet that you have to pay for, will more than cover the additional rental costs of a townhouse/house.
Why would the government charge more for apartments than for houses ? And what about condos ? If I pay at the 7-eleven do that means I have the government rate ?

Can anyone recommend a specific store that does good PC repair?
A name or phone number would be great.
Thanks
What seems to be the problem ? I might be able to help

When I google electricity price in chiang mai, everyone says its 3-5 baht per kwh, I am currently looking for an appartment and it seems like everyone charges 7-8 baht per kwh, even had owners tell me they don't make any profit from it and you pay directly at a 7-eleven, am I confusing kwh with unit ?, 7-8 baht is the same I paid when I was in koh samui, my last electricity bill was 9000 baht for one month, which is one of the reason I moved to chiang mai, thought electricity was much cheaper.

I tried dtac and AIS, I really don't recommend AIS, its really expensive, if you use a lot of data, its gonna cost you 100 baht / day, I use dtac, you get high speed for 100 mb for a day for 19 baht and if you need an extra 300 mb, its only 9 baht. So 28 baht a day for 400 mb. I know there is monthly packages but it only worth it if you don't need high speed and/or more than 1-2gb per month.

You may want to try reaching out to Stig at Buy & Rent Chiang Mai. We have used him for short terms rentals in the past and been satisfied. He doesn't have a huge inverntory but he may be able to help.
Good luck with your search.

If you're using AirBnB my advice from personal experience is to make sure to check reviews of the property and to be wary of any that don't have glowing recommendations. On my last experience with AirBnB the rental I booked wasn't--at least from my perspective nor my colleague's-- as advertised and I lost nearly 3K USD owing to their cancellation policy.
Thanks, I will be cautious, thought I had found a few but they all are too far from the old city, I really want to be at least 15min away, I guess I'll start looking for condos or private rooms.
-
Thanks a ton, I already found a bunch of houses I am interested in on airbnb, I guess I wasn't using the right term, its vacation rental, not house for rent.
-
I've been looking everywhere on the internet, sent dozens of emails and I can't find anyone that rent houses for short time, they all ask for 12 months. I need one for 2-4 months. Do anyone know a website or estate company that rent houses for that amount of time ? I had absolutely no difficulty finding one where I was in koh samui, thought it would be the same in chiang mai.
If its any help, here are my requirements:
2 bedrooms
AC
8000-20000 baht/month
10+ mbps internet
maximum 15min ride from old city

double entry visa. best and/or cheapest way to do your run from Chiang Mai?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
What do you mean by green bus ? Do you know any website or name of the company who sell these runs ? I am a fairly large and tall person and I did a trip in a private mini bus and it was okay since I got lucky enough to be seated in front, but I took another mini bus later and even though I was seated in front, I had absolutely no space for my legs, the chairs were way too small, I have never hated a 3 hours ride that much in my life, if I have the choice to pay more and be comfortable I'll do it. My favorite way of transportation so far is the night train but it stop at chiang rai.
