In the Bolt -> Taxi service, regardless of the rate offered, and despite having already paid for it, the taxi driver will turn on the taximeter and at the end of the service the payment made will be cancelled and I will be billed for what the taximeter shows.
This is how Grab Taxi works as well. They provide a fare estimate at the beginning, but what you eventually pay is the metered fare plus the Grab service charge. If you use cars rather than taxis on either app, there's a set fare.

You're paying Bolt to send a taxi to your door to pick you up, so that you don't have to go out on the street and find a cab (and possibly argue about the destination).

Why did they not make check-in counters, immigration booths and luggage claims directly inside the SAT 1 terminal to make life more simple for passengers ?
Because it isn't a terminal, it's a midfield satellite concourse. Its purpose is to add more gates, not to function as a new terminal. The actual new terminals at BKK - which will have the facilities you mention - are still in the planning and arguing stage, and won't be built for years.

That was also my experience. SAT-1 itself is much nicer and more comfortable than the legacy concourses, and any extra time to get to and from the gates there is negligible.

It's absurd enough that the police waste their time with this stupidity, but absolutely ridiculous that they brag to the press about it and send high ranking officers to make the arrests.

BEM is focused on procuring systems for the eastern section from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Min Buri. This segment, taking three-and-a-half years to build, is set to open by late 2027 or early 2028.
The civil engineering for this section is essentially completely finished, and yet the utterly shambolic contracting process has left the tunnels and stations empty for another three years. A really grotesque dereliction of duty to the local people who tolerated years of very disruptive construction and are still waiting for train service.

I'm glad they're taking this action, but it's striking how different their attitude is when the trafficking victims are in another country versus in Thailand (where they end up being arrested as illegal aliens rather than given aid or assistance).

Nice idea, but since Thailand can't even properly control its own crop burning, trying to control what happens in neighboring countries seems a bit...aspirational?

Please...there was no "panic", no "imminent disaster", no one "fearing for their lives", and no "chaotic landing". The plane circled and then landed, as planes often do.

2 hours ago, impulse said:How do I know where to sit on the plane if I don't have a boarding pass?
The headline is grossly misleading, very possibly because this is yet another ego-fest from Khun Kirati, who is always happiest when holding grand press conferences and making fanciful claims. (And who is actually the head of AoT, not "Director of the Airports Authority of Thailand" as the article claims.)
The reality is that you will still get a boarding pass and will still show it at immigration (if flying internationally) and at the gate. This facial recognition system will only be used to pass through the security checkpoint, so they won't need to have someone standing there to spend two minutes comparing your boarding pass to your passport.

All the notes...bore the word “COPY” on the watermark area on the reverse side. The police seized the counterfeit currency
If they literally have the word "copy" printed on them, they're not "counterfeit" at all - they're novelty or replica notes.

And their food is not that spicy. LOOK at the chilies they are using.
Those same dehydrated (or "sun dried") hard chilies that have almost no flavour at all.The dish that the restaurant calls Dragon Balls is larb tord (ลาบทอด), which even in Thailand can be quite spicy or not spicy at all depending on the individual cook. Those roasted chilis are an accompaniment to eat with the dish, not one of the ingredients.

So one former politician with no official position disagrees with a proposal from another former politician with no official position? Glad to see that public policy is being made by the people's representatives and not by random strongmen... 🙄

my question is, how did people survive for tens of thousands of year without all these shots ?
They didn't - they died. Millions and millions of them died of diseases that are now easily prevented.

Surprising that a corrupt cop gets busted in Thailand. What happened ? He refused to split with his bosses ?
He wasn't a police officer, he was an accountant or bookkeeper for the Corrections Department. Still surprised that he was arrested, but it's a very different scenario from busting a corrupt cop.

Is this for US Citizen Services? It says "visa scheduling" on the website. That's for non-citizens.
This is only for visa services. There has been no announcement of any changes to US passport application procedures.

I am guessing, but I expect that Thailand does not have jurisdiction over what happens on a Vietnamese plane.
Thai VietJet is a Thai airline with Thai crews, and the incident apparently took place in Thai airspace.

There are no tax dollars involved - the costs are all paid by applicants.

I don't quite get this. The airline can certainly choose not to sue her for the costs they incurred, but shouldn't the decision about whether to charge her with a crime be up to Thai prosecutors?

Another broken government website on the way.
The call centers, appointment systems, and online support systems are designed and run by contractors (not that that's necessarily any better).

Nope, neither "remitted" nor "brought in Thailand" can be read in the english version of RD 743.
Actually the more I read this document the mor I get the feeling is compatible with WWIT. The only thing is that HSPs could be taxed IMHO.
Section 5 of the decree refers to "income under section 40 of the Revenue Code derived in the previous tax year from
an employment, or from business carried on abroad, or from a property situated abroad, and
brought into Thailand." -

I think that the DIR GEN according to the royal decree exemption for the LTR could drop that exemption
Could you tell me where you're reading that? The decree states that certain remitted income is exempt from taxation for some LTR holders, and that the DIRGEN of the Revenue Dept can set rules and conditions for that exemption. It would seem bizarre if one of those rules for exemption could be "sorry, there aren't any exemptions." It's up to the Department and the Ministry of Finance to implement the decree, but I don't see that they have the authority to simply overrule it. Am I missing something?

You still didn't answer the question. What if I have a connecting international flight in Bangkok (same airport) - do I need to clear immigration?
No, you do not. You'll follow the signs to one of the transit screening areas, go through security, and proceed upstairs to the departures level where you can go to the gate for your next flight.
Facial Recognition to Replace Boarding Passes at Six Thai Airports
in Thailand News

They've been installed, but it will be up to each airline as to whether to use them, since the system may or may not mesh with their systems and procedures. I've actually seen FR readers at gates at many airports around the world for several years now, but only used them for boarding once.
But you're quite correct that in theory FR could be used for immigration and boarding as well as security - those functions just aren't under the full control of AoT.
