Exactly, you only have to ask yourself as to why Thailand, the so called champion of managing Covid is left off nearly, if not every travel bubble that I’m aware of? It’s simple, either the other countries believe that Thailand are carrying out too few tests to give a true accurate picture for them to make a fair assessment of the risk or they just don’t trust them to tell the truth altogether?
It's called reciprocation. If they (Thailand) won't let our people into their country, why should we let their people into ours?
Why are so many people desperate to believe Thailand is a hot-bed of Covid 19? Just be happy that we do not have the problems that others face.
(Sorry, forgot this is Thai Visa and everything to do with Thailand must be bad and must be moaned about!)

Any country that allows a 17 year old to walk the streets openly with an assault rifle and the mistaken belief that he is part of a militia, is seriously sick!
Any person that allows a gathering of unmasked, untested people to congregate illegally on the White house lawn is seriously demented.
Any person who supports this moron in power who is causing all this strife, needs to seriously examine their thought processes (if they have any)!
America is in terminal decline and must act now to have any chance of recovering its' former status.

Be very careful with these hornets.
I was stung by one a number of years ago, a painful experience!
However when I was stung three years later by a regular bee I went into anaphylactic shock and had to be hospitalised. It transpires that in some cases the venom from these hornets can cause this long-term effect, particularly in allergy/hay-fever sufferers.
I now carry an epi-pen with me and have had to use it twice.
Very difficult to get an epi-pen in Thailand as the chemical ephedrine is a pre-cursor used to make Yaba. I have to bring mine from abroad.

The one in Ao Nang is on a little used shortcut between Ao Nang and Klong Muang.
It is a minor road with very little traffic and generally very low speeds. Since they built the bridge and opened the road there have been very few accidents (I used to live on that road).
Why they didn't use this system on the Ao Nang - Krabi road which has sharp bends fast, high density traffic and many accidents; rather than spoiling a rural road - who knows? TIT

Been there in a past life.
Perfectly liveable provided you are not keen on a/c.
Contrary to the previous poster you do need to be aware of petty theft. There are always many apartments in the building and everybody is in and out of everybody's room. They know what you own and they know your movements; so if you leave readily saleable items in your room they will sometimes go for a walk. Locking everything away and having little or no contact with your neighbors means you will miss half the fun of living there.
Choosing an apartment near a fun zone can make for a very interesting life and you can end up as a part time Papa-san.
Remember, whatever happens, never lend money to anyone in the building!

I lost a plate in a fire awhile ago. Same as the thread RichCor posted, I had to go to the police and file a report. As I still had the remains of the old plate, I was able to go to a local shop (that the police told me about) to get it remade.
Otherwise it would be off to the DLT to request a new one. Might be a good time to transfer the registration. Ask the DLT first because you may end up with a new plate anyways.Strange the police would send you to a local shop to get a re-make. All number plates are required to carry certain markers to prove they are original and can only be provided by the Department of Transport; which is why we have to wait weeks for them, instead of popping to the local shop as we used to do.

I call bull**** on this one.
Look at the photo and you will see that the lead is not long enough for the dog to have been inside the car and to have jumped out of the open door.
Anyway if the dog is inside the car, why would you tie the other end of the leash to the bumper?
He tied the dog to the rear bumper and forgot about it! However, being a monk (and Thai) he would never admit that and made up a story to blame the dog.

If you list at a stupidly high price for a given period, then you can legitimately claim 80% off (or such like) even if you have never sold one at the original price. It has been standard in bricks and mortar retail for many years and was mostly well controlled.
Online, however, anything goes and many suppliers on platforms such as this use a scatter-gun approach with the same product at different prices and every one of them claiming to be discounted. Look at Agoda etc. in the online booking space - everything is on discount.

Since Thailand will not let anyone in from their country, why would they allow anyone in from Thailand? - Quid pro quo

I have watched those monkeys, they are way faster then people. This isn't for show. And climbing those tall trees in incredibly dangerous. Also it is cheaper. So if you get rid of the monkeys, more people will fall, less people will pay to get their trees picked, and more coconuts will fall without warning also creating another danger. This is pure BS, once again being pushed by leftists who want to regulate away every single freedom they can think of to satisfy their distorted beliefs.
Everytime we give in to these control freaks, we lose more and more.
Do this and watch the price of coconut products to go up, sales will go down.
And to top it off, if they go down this route, what is the first thing people who own these monkeys will do?
They lost the money to feed them... So there is a good chance that they will kill them. How humane.
Read again! Humans do not climb the palms, they cut with blades on very long sticks. They pick faster than monkeys as they don't have to climb. Also humans don't come with all the obstinacy and difficulties that reluctant monkeys come with.
I despair of the large number of inmates who comment without reading and then fire out Trumpisms about imaginary conspiracies.

There are still lots of questions.
I’m wondering if immunity from Covid-19 is a thing - can someone catch Covid-19 a second time within a couple of years and experience serious or life threatening symptoms ?
I’m wondering if most of the country (UK) have been exposed to Covid-19 or not, or if they will in the coming months.
I’m wondering if Thailands numbers are real or if Covid-19 has not already spread through the nation and most were asymptotic.
I’m wondering if Thailands numbers are accurate, and if Covid-19 spreads through the nation once Thailand opens up if its not going to be hit incredibly hard.
Wonder on - nobody is going to be wandering until this all settles down 4th quarter minimum. Next year likely (excluding EU and USA unless they get their act together)

How many times does it have to be explained here that the primary purpose of a mask is not to protect you from getting an infection, but to prevent you giving it to others? If everyone wears a mask transmission is slowed and the virus starts to reduce in the total population.
Sorry just realised that if a genius (self proclaimed) like the Orange Buffoon doesn't understand this, then how can the cognoscenti on Thai Visa possibly comprehend?

I live in Krabi. My hotel is open, the beaches are empty (which is great), restaurants are open. Feels like it did when I moved here 14 years ago.
If I didn't need guests at my hotel I would certainly join many others in saying - "long may it stay this way"

KTM bikes are available in Thailand....
But where to get them serviced? They have come and gone and come again leaving large parts of Thailand with no service and few qualified mechanics. Pity or I would have bought one.

I guess I want something that can go more or less anywhere I want to, but not too fast, and not too slow.
If the CRF/KLX250 feel fast enough I might go for one just because its cheaper. But if they really do feel too slow, I might have to get something bigger/faster.
I want something nice and relaxed, but capable.
I will update when I have done some test rides.
ps I think I saw you on youtube, didnt I? I enjoyed watching that ????
Yup I was on the tube - hosting a friend from the UK - TMF; Andy The Missenden Flier

Consider the Yamaha MT03.
Fast (160km/hr) so no problem on the highway.
Much cheaper to buy and run than the Duc (Ducati are much more expensive to service and parts are premium priced)
A Yamaha can be serviced in every town.
I looked at and drove the Ducati but it felt cheaply made and a bit all or nothing in throttle action. Great for hooning about on - but not as good for day to day. I went with the Triumph Bonneville instead. (Unfortunately I wrote that off)
When I reach to the key rack now it's the MT03 I pick every time unless I'm planning a trip and need luggage.
Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki are all much cheaper and easier to keep on the road also are easier to sell later.
I can't understand why you are comparing slow and relatively cheap bikes with the Duc, have you really thought through what you need as well as what you want?

how exactly ?
maybe in a few months or years, people like me will be vindicated that have been saying
it is the FREE vitamin D from the SUN that kept numbers low and the poor don't have money for airco rooms
Every day you go on and on about vitamin D being the miracle - you are starting to sound like Trump.
Show us any evidence!
Why have the Southern states in the USA (Texas, Florida or Southern California), which get lots of Sun and vitamin D got so many cases if vitamin D is the answer? What about the Middle East?
Show me any verifiable evidence and I will retract - if not please stop posting this nonsense.

If so you'll see the idiot instigated a confrontation and then smashed his cup over the officers head.
Hard to see where the officer didn't use common sense.
The willingness that members have to post without reading the article clearly, is a constant source of amusement.
Whoops! maybe they do read and are just unable to comprehend!

Buy a taser (they are illegal but are sold everywhere there are tourists) NOT to taser the dog but the sound is very scary to dogs and they will run from you.
I love dogs and have two of my own, but after 2 bites and one crash caused by dogs when I cycle every morning; I now carry a small one that is pretending to be a cigarette lighter and just press the button if dogs come near.

First day on “big” bike- Honda CB500X 2017 – Thoughts/Concerns
in Motorcycles in Thailand
Posted
If you move to Krabi be aware:
500 range from Honda has to be serviced at Honda Big Wing. You will have to drive to Phuket for any maintenance.
Kawasaki Versys can be serviced at Kawasaki dealer on Maharat Road in Krabi.
If you are tall the Versys is a more comfortable bike.
Both bikes are popular and available second hand on many sites. Since you are obviously nervous and starting to out-think yourself, buy a cheaper second-hand bike that will cause you less stress and be less of a concern if you drop it.
Don't be too mindful of the nay-sayers. A crash at 100kph on a scooter hurts as much as one on a bike.
Bear in mind:
1. The small scooter wheels react less well under heavy braking and are more susceptible to pot-holes so are more likely to throw you off at like-for-like speeds.
2. Most scooter riders don't wear protective gear other than a helmet - either they don't possess the gear or feel they look silly wearing it on a scoot therefore when they do come off it will hurt them - maybe badly.
3. Don't buy a big bike without the correct gear and get used to riding with your kit on. You will feel safer and it will give you confidence.
4. Put auxiliary lights on your bike and ride with them on all the time. Cars will assume you are a scoot (the 500 has a fairly weak headlight and not a large road presence - the versys is bigger and more visible) and can pull out in front of you assuming you are travelling slowly.
5. Have toured with people on a Versys (my girlfriend) and on a 500f (my daughter). Neither had any trouble or discomfort in 3000K from Krabi up to Sangklaburi or on the highway down to the GP in Sepang.
6. There are plenty of groups riding out of Phuket every weekend, join one that is small 3-6 bikes, and learn from others who will be happy to help you, especially if you are open about needing advice.
7. Most foreigners avoid riding in groups with Thai riders as their discipline and riding skills rarely match their bikes.
Go for it and watch The Missenden Flyer's Youtube series on his tour round Thailand.
