  1. Buy a taser (they are illegal but are sold everywhere there are tourists) NOT to taser the dog but the sound is very scary to dogs and they will run from you.

I love dogs and have two of my own, but after 2 bites and one crash caused by dogs when I cycle every morning; I now carry a small one that is pretending to be a cigarette lighter and just press the button if dogs come near.

Exactly how the CCP thinks and exactly opposite to how the real Free World operates. They, the CCP, not the Chinese people, have always misunderstood the noise of freedom. It will be their failing to the delight of the Free World and Chinese people everywhere.

Best start treating them like the really big third world thug they are. Demand they come clean on their dangerous biolab and military biological research. If not shut them down.

irony is way above many on this forum!

Which will last about a nano second once the Thais ship in thousands of tourists.

Sand dunes replaced with deck chairs, foreshore covered with jet skis, and the smell of BBQ chicken wafting on the sea breeze!

Luckily no deck chairs, jet skis, banana boats etc. are allowed within the National park which covers this whole region.

The Chinese tourists, who used to come here in droves, never used these beaches out of town; as the buses didn't take them there.

Ao Nang beach in the town however was a different story with an endless stream of longtails taking the tourists to Railay and the islands.

Some regions are aware of the damage tourism can do and are doing something about it - witness the closure of Maya Bay in this National Park.

This current crisis can only help our local environment to recover faster.

  4. Ask to see the docs and check them.

    1. They will name the guarantor

    2. You will also see if the sum has undergone FBI - (Farang Boyfriend Inflation)

Banks just don't lend that much over the value - and are well aware of the Thai habit of finding inflated valuations from legitimate

    sources (for a consideration).

Tread cautiously and find the whole picture before you consider any action. Don't do anything suggested by Thais until you have checked it out with a qualified lawyer. What a Thai person can get away with is not the same as for a Farang - especially in these times.

  5. I recently went through this process of probate in Phuket.

    1. You need a lawyer

    2. Death certificate, will, plus any other documents (bank book chanotes etc.)

    3. Appear in court before a judge who will verify everything and ask lots of questions; then grant interim probate if he/she is satisfied.

    4. Wait for statuary period for full probate to be granted - this can vary, I was told, but in my case was 1 month.

I did not inform the bank or any legal body in Thailand and continued to draw funds on behalf of the will's beneficiary during this period.

In total 6 weeks start to finish.

I am told that having the will witnessed by and lodged with a lawyer helps speed the process.

PM me if you wish to have the contact details of the efficient and honest lawyer I used in Phuket (it took me a long time and some bad experiences before I found him!)

  6. I would be far more worried about dying on the way to or from the airport in a car accident than I would be concerned about a virus with just over a 2% chance of killing you, should you even contract the disease (and then only if you are already old or infirm).

Stay at home, lock all your doors, wear a mask at all times and join all the others who seem to have no ability to understand the risks they run every day and how to keep a sense of proportion in their lives.

No verified cases in Krabi to date.

Wasn't this post about falsely reported results?

Instead, he's getting lectured by the holier than now TV crowd. Let those without sin cast the first stone comes to mind.

There is a difference between sin and idiocy.

Many of us sin when the opportunity arises but only a completely selfish idiot would put the wife (that he says he cares about!) at risk because he can't say no to unprotected sex with a hooker. He says he carries condoms with him - so no excuse not to use one

  8. "World demand for Palm Oil is falling and prices will surely fall again soon unless the Thai Government subsidises the Palm Farmers.  The World is a better off place without this muck. "

Another one who has fallen for the  propaganda put out by the Americans.

Nowhere on the North American continent can they grow palm oil so they spend millions trying to denigrate it.

4 X better carbon footprint than any of the oil crops (rape seed, canola etc.)

Higher temperature before breaking down into harmful compounds - which is why McD, KFC etc. use it.

Once planted needs little maintenance (insecticides, fungicides etc.)

Does not need to use energy to re-plant as does not need replanting for 20-30 years.

Also the crop contains palm seed oil - a major ingredient for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Altogether a better, cheaper and more sustainable product than other oil crops.

    Downside:

Certain countries - particularly Indonesia and some South American nations are destroying primary rainforest to grow this crop.

This is not the case in Thailand or Malaysia where there are controls over where you are allowed to remove primary rainforest.

Here in Thailand the labour intensive rubber farms are being re-planted with oil palms with no environmental damage incurred.

    Solution:

Instead of using all this money to lobby and denigrate palm oil, use it to ensure that palm oil is only bought from ethical and sustainable countries/farms.

If the world stops using palm oil there is currently no substitute available at anything approaching the same cost or the same performance. Will the American people be happy when their Freedom Fries go up in price and contain harmful compounds?

Went to one of these famous hot springs just outside Krabie: apart from trying to over charge me to get in (only when I went to walk away did the price come down) it was a total waste of money. Nothing natural about it, all concrete man made cheap, run down/under cunstruction the way Thai's can do and above all rather pathetic.

You went to the wrong hot springs.

The ones just outside Krabi are concrete holes in the ground and are not worth a visit.

The ones you should have visited are 60 or so Km South of Krabi near Klong Thom and the Crystal/Emerald pools.

These hot springs are a natural formation of rock pools above a river and are well worth a visit provided you do not arrive at the same time as a busload of Chinese tourists.

These hot springs are in the National Park and you have to pay the standard park fee.

Sadly many people fall for this - I am not sure you can call it a scam. If you don't specify which hot spring you want (there are many in this province), then they will take you to the nearest one that pays a kick-back, not the only one worth visiting.

  10. Renewed in 20 minutes this morning. I was the only person there when the office opened at 8:30.

in addition to what is quoted on the website they required:

A map (hand drawn) of where I live.

Photos of me outside the house with the house number visible.

    Only 1 photo.

Confirmation letter from the bank, copy of passport, bank book, completed TM7 and 1,900THB were as website.

Why would anyone need an agent?
