  1. How long ago was it imported? (Look at the date on the green import paper.) If it is more than 28 days ago then, since there are no transfer papers from VN and the guy you bought it from is still the official owner, he is liable to pay any fine. You need to get back to him and sort this out. You may have the paperwork but: you don't own the bike!  It is his bike until the title document is transferred in VN or the bike is officially imported into Thailand and transferred here.

Getting stopped by police on the street, who either can't be bothered with the paperwork or don't know the law, is very different from getting stopped at the border.

You may get to the border and they may wave you through, but if they do stop you and you are not the owner of the bike then I would bet on an impound or a large gratuity.

Get the owner to sort this out or get your money back - too much hassle to even risk it!

  2. My passport was stamped incorrectly at Satun with 15 days instead of the time to expiry of my extension. I did not notice it until 5 minutes later whilst waiting for my friends to finish their stamps. I went back to the window and asked the young trainee who had stamped my passport to correct it, she called the supervisor. The supervisor stated he could not correct the stamp - because I had already left the window. I took my passport to my local immigration office, explained the situation and it was corrected within minutes.

So whatever your hurry and however long the queue - don't leave the window till you have checked your stamp is correct.

My plan is that factory staff will be mostly middle aged Thai women and possibly some guys.

The staff who will be serving  customers will be young and pretty.

The young pretties will earn more (sales bonuses).

All staff will benefit from things like a provident fund, regular company trips, family days, free childcare, free english lessons (mandatory for customer facing staff, optional for factory staff).   My partners and I have discussed giving equity to staff who stay with the company.

Managerial staff will be offered equity from day one so we can attract good people.  Looking for overseas educated, young Thais (they will need to stay with us for x years before they can vest their shares).

We will provide free transport from the nearest BTS, free lunch, free drinking water.

We intend to build a company culture that people will want to work for and stay working for.   They will see that there is a career progression for everyone, no matter what position you join in, if they stay we will try to teach them new skills and let them get up the career ladder.

How long have you been in Asia? How long in Thailand? Western culture, processes etc. are not directly transferable. You have so much to learn - I hope it is not too painful!  You're not in Kansas now!
