In Krabi/Ao Nang the beaches have remained open since the start - only people breaking the rules on gatherings and social distancing have been warned and moved on.
Maybe they just don't trust all you Yahoos in Pattaya to behave!

Thank you for confirming that plenty of warnings have been made. One may wonder why the POTUS did nothing but downplaying risks during one month and half (apart from the China travel restrictions).
Allowing 100,000 USA citizens in without checks is hardly a travel restriction!

Which will last about a nano second once the Thais ship in thousands of tourists.
Sand dunes replaced with deck chairs, foreshore covered with jet skis, and the smell of BBQ chicken wafting on the sea breeze!
Luckily no deck chairs, jet skis, banana boats etc. are allowed within the National park which covers this whole region.
The Chinese tourists, who used to come here in droves, never used these beaches out of town; as the buses didn't take them there.
Ao Nang beach in the town however was a different story with an endless stream of longtails taking the tourists to Railay and the islands.
Some regions are aware of the damage tourism can do and are doing something about it - witness the closure of Maya Bay in this National Park.
This current crisis can only help our local environment to recover faster.

I can't see the strangely shaped sand dunes in any of those photos ??
Neither could I when I walked the dogs there this morning. Ao Nam Mao beach also has an influx of starfish as usually happens when we start the rainy season. Unfortunately they are not edible or there would be a local goldrush!

Ask to see the docs and check them.
1. They will name the guarantor
2. You will also see if the sum has undergone FBI - (Farang Boyfriend Inflation)
Banks just don't lend that much over the value - and are well aware of the Thai habit of finding inflated valuations from legitimate
sources (for a consideration).
Tread cautiously and find the whole picture before you consider any action. Don't do anything suggested by Thais until you have checked it out with a qualified lawyer. What a Thai person can get away with is not the same as for a Farang - especially in these times.

The majority of Thais and many Foreigners, are currently on zero income.
Why should teachers be exempt? Under the suspension law they can reduce your salary. Up to you to negotiate how much. If you hold out for full salary I don't think you will have a job for very long - and good luck in court!
A smart option would have been to volunteer a minimal pay cut (to show you care) before they impose a draconian one on you.
We are all suffering - man up!

15 years living together. No kids
Day one I said "I will never have another wife - do you accept this?"
Still together - although this 24hrs together, every day, is getting a little tedious!

Krabi is sending all patients with Covid symptoms to their main hospital in Krabi town. Both private hospitals locally are refusing patients with symptoms, or who require a test and re-directing them to the Authorised Government hospital.
That may only apply in this region.

I recently went through this process of probate in Phuket.
1. You need a lawyer
2. Death certificate, will, plus any other documents (bank book chanotes etc.)
3. Appear in court before a judge who will verify everything and ask lots of questions; then grant interim probate if he/she is satisfied.
4. Wait for statuary period for full probate to be granted - this can vary, I was told, but in my case was 1 month.
I did not inform the bank or any legal body in Thailand and continued to draw funds on behalf of the will's beneficiary during this period.
In total 6 weeks start to finish.
I am told that having the will witnessed by and lodged with a lawyer helps speed the process.
PM me if you wish to have the contact details of the efficient and honest lawyer I used in Phuket (it took me a long time and some bad experiences before I found him!)

I would be far more worried about dying on the way to or from the airport in a car accident than I would be concerned about a virus with just over a 2% chance of killing you, should you even contract the disease (and then only if you are already old or infirm).
Stay at home, lock all your doors, wear a mask at all times and join all the others who seem to have no ability to understand the risks they run every day and how to keep a sense of proportion in their lives.
No verified cases in Krabi to date.

Instead, he's getting lectured by the holier than now TV crowd. Let those without sin cast the first stone comes to mind.
There is a difference between sin and idiocy.
Many of us sin when the opportunity arises but only a completely selfish idiot would put the wife (that he says he cares about!) at risk because he can't say no to unprotected sex with a hooker. He says he carries condoms with him - so no excuse not to use one

"World demand for Palm Oil is falling and prices will surely fall again soon unless the Thai Government subsidises the Palm Farmers. The World is a better off place without this muck. "
Another one who has fallen for the propaganda put out by the Americans.
Nowhere on the North American continent can they grow palm oil so they spend millions trying to denigrate it.
4 X better carbon footprint than any of the oil crops (rape seed, canola etc.)
Higher temperature before breaking down into harmful compounds - which is why McD, KFC etc. use it.
Once planted needs little maintenance (insecticides, fungicides etc.)
Does not need to use energy to re-plant as does not need replanting for 20-30 years.
Also the crop contains palm seed oil - a major ingredient for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Altogether a better, cheaper and more sustainable product than other oil crops.
Downside:
Certain countries - particularly Indonesia and some South American nations are destroying primary rainforest to grow this crop.
This is not the case in Thailand or Malaysia where there are controls over where you are allowed to remove primary rainforest.
Here in Thailand the labour intensive rubber farms are being re-planted with oil palms with no environmental damage incurred.
Solution:
Instead of using all this money to lobby and denigrate palm oil, use it to ensure that palm oil is only bought from ethical and sustainable countries/farms.
If the world stops using palm oil there is currently no substitute available at anything approaching the same cost or the same performance. Will the American people be happy when their Freedom Fries go up in price and contain harmful compounds?

Krabi require a photo outside the house/apartment showing the number of the house.
Plus a map showing the route to the nearest known landmark.
These are required for retirement and marriage renewals

Renewed in 20 minutes this morning. I was the only person there when the office opened at 8:30.
in addition to what is quoted on the website they required:
A map (hand drawn) of where I live.
Photos of me outside the house with the house number visible.
Only 1 photo.
Confirmation letter from the bank, copy of passport, bank book, completed TM7 and 1,900THB were as website.
Why would anyone need an agent?

I have lived in Krabi for 15 years. Immigration here is great, helpful staff, short wait times. Compared with Phuket, Bangkok etc. it's a piece of pie.
Ao Nang is not great - it's a tourist town - what do you expect! Krabi is fine (just a few backpackers) and the surrounding countryside is wonderful. If you only spend your time in a tourist town no wonder you don't like it!
If you choose to live overseas, as I have done for the last 30 years, then you can expect to put up with a little red tape but the 3 hours a year I spend at the Immigration office (yearly renewal, 90 day reports, check in after overseas trips) hardly constitutes a reason to bitch, moan and decide to leave.
All the people on here moaning about Thailand, when in reality they don't know Thailand, they just know a few tourist spots. Get out and about - find the real Thailand and give us all a break!

Kuala Lumpur - Koh Samui
All direct flights.
Why isn’t that possible?
It seems the OP is having comprehension difficulties.
How many more people have to tell you that you most likely will not be let back in through any airport! - They are very strict lately.
Land crossings, if you choose the right one, are generally easier - but not always guaranteed, especially if you have been travelling back and forth to Thailand for the last 3 years.
Read the advice given by UbonJoe and Elviajera, study it, then follow it - no need for any more questions.

You are assuming that anybody ever reads the document. Should, by chance, they ever read one; how many of the employees they have possess even a rudimentary knowledge of written English?
Since I never see the huge banks of filing cabinets at their offices that would be necessary to house the mountains of paperwork they generate, where does it all go? With their attempts to move online will anybody ever check unless there is a flag? - doubt it.
The rule here is cover your backside by following procedure, however outdated, then sit back and do as little as possible.
We religiously report all our hotel guests to immigration within 24 hours. On holiday last year our staff sent 2 weeks documents all completely wrongly filled in; when I took this up with an official and offered to retrospectively correct the documents I was told not to bother as they don't read them.
Worry not.

Ao Nang is far, far busier than when you last visited, as it has expanded greatly.
Do you want to spend three whole days on noisy long-tail boats and fighting with the masses on Railay and Hong Island?
Huay Toh waterfall, Klong Son Nam, Bor Tor caves, Krabi river tour are just a few of the things you can do without fighting in the Mainland Chinese scrum that has become the norm in Thailand's tourist areas.
If you are going afloat - go early (it takes them hours to get the tourists collected and sorted for these trips) and go private (2,200THB boat rental for a private longtail 4 island trip) - don't forget that the exorbitant 400 THB/per head National Park fee has to be added on top.
Krabi/Ao Nang is still a good area to visit as there are many attractions inland away from the masses who mostly don't leave the beach area. There are also far nicer beaches North of Ao Nang but you need transport (Moto will cost 250THB per day) Taxis are still very expensive and not very reliable in this region.
The sea being part of a National Park still means that (thank goodness) we are free of deck-chairs, hawkers, jet-skis and banana boats on beaches here but it is getting very busy (and noisy) in Ao Nang town. Food is better and cheaper in Krabi Town.
Send me a pm if you need more info.

Recom273 is right, we guessed from the start you had been had.
There is hope that you can put pressure on him, even more so if he is himself not fulfilling all the criteria for legally living in Thailand.
Personally, unless your command of Thai is good or you have good connections I would not involve the police - that can of worms is best left unopened. However it is always useful as a threat against the Aussie as he doesn't know whether you will open it or not!
Good luck, hope you can get something back - let us know how you get on.

How can you transfer the ownership of a bike registered in one country when you purchased it in another? Only if it has been officially imported from that country - which it has not. You do not own the bike - he does. That is what is wrong with the papers!
You can pay the fines - which may or may not be high, or you may have the bike impounded. Either way you lose out in monetary terms and have a huge amount of uncertainty and hassle.
Find the guy you bought it from and call BS on him and get your money back. Or chalk it down to experience and "ride it like you stole it" until you leave.
-
Get your money back!
1. Vehicle is not legally imported and therefore will be impounded or heavily fined before being allowed back across the border out of Thailand.
2. You are thinking about taking a bike which you do not own and have no official ownership documents for, across 2 borders.
3. Once in VN it is also not legal as road tax is overdue.
Of course the owner will tell you it won't be a problem and we are just being pessimistic.

The above timeline shows reaction times when nobody yet knew what they were facing - compare this with Trump's inaction (some would say deliberate) when everybody knew what they were facing and who looks an idiot? Perhaps some US citizens should take a class action suit against their own government and it's leader(?). It would have about as much chance as Trump does of making his case against China stick.
