The website most likely will deny liability as in the terms and conditions there will be a clause like doing not make any transactions directly With an owner and not using the website’ or something along those lines

Shake down was it not. Promise of jail was just an empty threat.
But you would have been locked up for a day or two then off to court, pay a fine of 5000-8000 and then the possibility of visa troubles.
Some claim to be able to pay 5000 and i do not believe them, 20 000 is about the going rate.
By law you allowed 2 beers to be under the limit, so 3 wine coolers would be put you over the limit
I paid 5000 down from 20000 not 3 months ago.
I believe the law is 0.2 if on temporary licence or held it for less than 2 years and 0.5 (or equivalent Thai measurement) if 5 year license. Happy to be corrected

EVA business class $2900 AUD. New 787-10 with flat bed
Thai business class $4400 AUD. Old 777 with angled seats
Yes . EVA is not direct. But we get to stopover in Taipei on the way home for a couple of days and discover a city that we haven't been to before. And $1500 per ticket is a massive difference
Taipei is a fantastic destination. Enjoy!

It is a waste of money cos whatever you have gone to hospital for in the past you are not covered. I can afford any hospitals. So for me a waste of time.
I've been to hospital twice now. Influenza type B that complicated into pneumonia with a throat infection. 200000thb for 7 days in a private room, fully covered. Motorcycle accident with 30K of hospital fees, fully covered.
I have a few exclusions including spinal issues and any brain trauma/issues from pre-existing but I'm covered for everything else.
You must be fairly well off if you can afford 2mil+ for cancer treatment and the like. good for you. I'm happy to ensure I'm covered for the unexpected

Just look at Kev-in-Thailand. One day he gets a bit of indigestion. Goes to the doctor - oesophageal cancer. No insurance. Has cost him over 1.6 million in treatement so far. He's 58 years old. 400k is not enough.
50 minutes ago, Jingthing said:Not really. The super overpriced 400K / 40K government sanctioned policies are a HORRIBLE VALUE and won't go far at all for anything actually serious.
Cheers.
Agreed. It’s a fail safe to cover initial treatment. No one should rely on this bare bones cover.
DYOR & get covered adequately. Too many people play the victim and Blake everything and everyone but themselves -

But I have to agree that detail should have been prominently mentioned in the article in the OP. It's one thing to be distressed about something that is actually definitely happening already, and another thing to be worried about a potential change of much less certainty.
Cheers.
If it does become a broader implementation it will be extremely unfortunate for those that are over 65 and have got away with winging it but for those that can get insurance and don’t have it it may be a saving grace for many.
Insurance is always considered a waste of money until you need it-

No money involved, apart from the occasional half pint of 'Rattler'.
My son didn't like it, said it was wrong for me to be sleeping with a girl that was in his class in high school.
My dad's married to woman 1 year younger than me that was a year level below me at school. When I found I high fived him and bought him a beer. They've now got 2 kids and have been together for over 15 years.
If only I can be doing that well at his age 555

Social media doesn’t effect or change my feelings about anything. At times it just reminds me that there are many people that love their lives as low information people and not to expect too much from anyone, especially the majority of expats

We only had 1 set of signed documents supplied with the car. We also didn't have a power of attorney signed by the seller.
The old reg was BKK the new one Udon, all done by SWMBO at the main Udon LTO
AFIR from the seller it was signed house book copy, transfer paper, signed ID card copy. We also had the insurance though I don't remember if that was needed.
Ok no worries. When I did my changeover @ Chon Buri I had to have a POA as well but that was Thai to Alien, maybe stricter requirements. Insurance wasn’t needed for my transfer.
Thanks for clarifying

Well then I hope you are at one of those places right now, posting on the UndertheBrigeVisa forum and telling folks how crappy their lives are and how you have it so good in a thousand other places
Do as I say, not as I do my friend. Seems to be a common theme in Thailand

What if you are only here 4-6 months per year , the same time every year ( Winter) is THAT long term in your book? That’s what many people would like to know and it’s what many people do each year once a year. An ELITE visa would be a stupid choice and ridiculously expensive. I say an METV is perfect for that and I’m about to see if my 5 th METV is accepted next week at BKK. I think it will be.
They seem to be stating 180 days/6 months is the "limit", so what you have stated should be fine

I've met two people who have used them and not attended any lessons, not really a surprise that they cracked down on it tbh.
I have one just like that and yes, I agree that the crackdown is warranted. For the record I am self taught and can converse and also read and write at a basic level.

That is getting harder to obtain now with an extended history of entries/staying in Thailand. At most good for 1, maybe 2 years now

Well, the latest story I have is a very nice lady, her farang hubby is a complete a__hole, I know.
Anyhoooo, things came to a head, and she had had enough. He wanted her to sell the Fortuner and give him half, she said nope...Couple of weeks later they were divorced, she is still driving the Fortuner....
PS. My ex UK wife of 20+ years, was the love of my life, we were two peas in a pod, then suddenly....BANG....Was all over.....To cut a long story short, she was threatened with imprisonment for telling lies in court about our finances and other stuff. I was gobsmacked at even the thought she would be that low..
So please don't tell me about "100% sound" marriages, hormones can be treacherous at a certain time of life...
Nothing in life is guaranteed no matter how wise you are. You just have to make sure you don't go all in and leave the back door open so to speak

Are you sure that that will work? As the blue (house) book will not be a Bangkok address so the number plates will have to change.
It will be fine, also thai's don't need to change plates to their province. The only delay will be Bangkok forwarding the amended book to you.
