The 12 month statement only covers 12 months back from the date of application for it. As it takes 5 days to obtain, that leaves a shortfall in the 12 months of statements. Hence needing a 6 month statement which can be obtained immediately. The two together give you the required 12 months. I have been doing this procedure for a number of years. Used to it now.
-
No! As posted above, it has to come from the bank signed and official stamp. A 12 month statement from, Bangkok Bank for instance, takes 5 days to obtain and will not be covering the full 12 months. So, a 6 month is also required to be fully up to the date of the renewal. Other banks may vary this process.

Furniture/Personal Possessions/Container From UK
worrab replied to MangoKorat's topic in General Topics
Simpsons International Movers did my furniture and belongings UK to Thailand. They loaded from home then to a depot to make up a container, shipped and then container unloaded into a truck and delivered to the new house in Bang Saphan. Very good service and price. Mind you the cost of furniture is cheaper than UK so only bring what you really need, then purchase over here. 01322949557 -
Wish I could say the same as John Drake and Tropicalevo. When we lived in Bang Saphan Noi it took months for letters or parcels to arrive. In fact they “lost” a number of items for 4 months!! Suddenly found in the warehouse! Bearing in mind this was in 2024, having emailed postalcare, I received a reply with a photocopy of delays being attributed to Covid dated 2022!! Now here in Hua Hin, getting a repeat of the problem. Still waiting on gifts/cards sent in November for Christmas!! From what I have read, this is a common problem in the area at the moment.I wonder if this is Covid 2022 again!! 🤣🤣

Taxation Registration
worrab replied to StevieAus's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Had a chat with an advisor for a Tax Accountancy firm yesterday. The upshot of the discussion was, if you do not remit money to Thailand then you do not need to register for TIN. He also reckoned not to bother in order to reclaim tax back on interest on a bank account. Let sleeping dogs lie and avoid opening a potential can of worms. -

I understood that, and someone will correct me if wrong, no translation of P60, for example, was required. English was accepted. -

Dipped below 800k for money in bank method
worrab replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Back in Jan 24 having got my extension granted in Nov 23, I put down a deposit for a new house and by mistake used the wrong account. Had done it on the app and forgot to select the normal account instead of the immigration account. I landed up dipping into the 800k by 50k! I realised the mistake an hour or so later as I had not had an SMS on the normal account to say there had been a transaction. Promptly transferred the 50k straight over to correct the error. Roll forward to my extension visit this year in Nov at Hua Hin, nothing was mentioned. All okay but the IO had stapled a slip of paper into my passport regarding the ruling for 800k. Made me chuckle! -
Big falang lottery winners in Thailand?
worrab replied to Sandboxer's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If you did win the big prize, you sign the back of the ticket then you go to your local police station to register the win before going to the lottery office in Bangkok to claim the win. -
Yes. I was a train driver starting in the days of BR, then we became SouthEastern at the time I retired from being High Speed driver running from Kent to St Pancras in London. It is traumatic for all concerned but as a driver you are helpless when an incident like this occurs. Nothing you can do! In UK, the collection of body parts is done by Police and Coroners officials. More used to death than a train driver.
-
It is not time wasting at all. I would go so far as to say that you have never been a train driver. I was. Never had a death on the railway? I have. Been out to relieve drivers involved in deaths? I have. It is a traumatizing incident and you never know how it will affect people later. The crew should be relieved of duty and taken home and another crew take over. All deaths involving the railway should have all evidence, regardless, gathered at the scene before the train is taken away for a deep clean. All body parts should be gathered at the scene and the train checked over for large body parts or any other damage that can occur to brake pipes etc. I have known a missing arm from one occassion be found a day later lying on the track 10 miles from the incident!! Missed in the dark and was lodged in the loco! And one other think to consider is the family would like as much of the body as is physically possible for the funeral.
-
Wow. In UK the driver would be relieved of duty. Passengers detrained to alternative transport and the loco/unit taken away for cleaning and removal of any other body parts. And how can you review evidence when the train has carried on with the journey?? Just shows how cheap life is over here, as we all know.

K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
worrab replied to offset's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
KBank is complying with global regulations under CRS and FATCA to ensure tax residency details are accurately reported: For Americans: FATCA requires banks to report account details to US tax authorities. For Non-Americans: CRS requires tax residency information to be shared with international tax authorities to prevent tax evasion. Why Are They Being Sent Out? In 2020, Thailand joined the CRS agreement, committing Thai banks to request tax residency information from their customers. This is standard procedure and not unique to you—KBank happens to be among the first to implement it. Under CRS rules, banks must: Confirm the tax residency of all account holders. Identify connections to other countries for tax purposes. Share financial account details with local tax authorities, who may exchange the information internationally if needed. This ensures overseas income and assets are declared in the relevant country. While this may feel new in Thailand, it’s already standard practice in many other countries. Note that switching banks won’t avoid this, as all Thai banks are required to comply with CRS regulations. This is from an email sent out by Carl Turner yesterday following reports of KBank sending out these emails. -

Opening a Thai bank account as a foreigner questions
worrab replied to CarbonRod's topic in General Topics
I am sure you are going to need a Proof of Residence from Immigration to open an account. I had to do this the other week to move an account from one branch of BKK to another when I moved. Basically closing one account and opening another to move the money to even though I have been banking with them for 9 years!
