How about the bent military officials who examined the product, approved the deal and took generous ‘commissions’ on the sale?

Pigeon jail?
Are you kidding me?
Good point. Pigeon jail should be a last resort. In the meantime just Article 44 all those pesky gomers into inactive posts and give them a chance to adjust their attitudes and reform themselves.

Prayut must quit as junta chief, premier
Yes...absolutely...
...and narcissists must stop looking in the mirror...and haughty people must stop bragging...and thieves must stop stealing... and bullies must stop mistreating others...
..all very good.

Interesting (and sort of humorous) how the bold, intrepid, ‘punch you in the face’ General knee-jerks and flails his arms whenever the deposed PM decides to speak.
It would really be funny if Mr. T used the F***book forum to publicly challenge the General to a live, on line Skype debate some Friday night.
That would be priceless.

Chiang Rai Soldiers Told To Keep Uniforms Out Of Profile Pics
Guess this doesn't apply to...former...recovering...reformed...Generals in Bangkok who 'protect the military’s politically neutral image' by flaunting their fancy uniforms whenever they want to make a point.

Probe into misappropriation of funds for disabled sought
Unfortunately the probe will need to be postponed as the funds allocated for misappropriation probes have gone missing....

It's on you General. And if you had a scrap of integrity, you'd man up and stop hiding.
A basic tenet of genuine leadership is that you can delegate command but you cannot delegate responsibility. The self-appointed PM can dissemble and waffle all he wants, but…the one sitting at the big desk has to own everything.
Sadly, the General and his cronies only want to 'own' the perks of high office; they don't want any part of the accountability.

US ambassador sees positive political development in Thailand
But then again, the US "positive political development" bar is set fairly low these days.

Soon year 2019
Look on the bright 4.0 side…soon your long-awaited Mangmoom card will also be of no use at a large number of convenient locations.

Once more the Junta thugs show their immaturity and cowardice by hysterically hiding behind ridiculously manufactured issues.

But wearing a uniform to hijack the government, subvert the country and illegally enrich oneself is just fine.

People often have governments they may not want…
People often have governments they may not like…
But unfortunately, people almost always have the governments they deserve.
Thailand is no exception.

Makes you wonder how many times this sort of thing (or worse) has occurred yet gone unreported. Considering the disreputable nature of the RTA, it would seem this is just the tip of a very ugly iceberg.

So the pretty high end wife gets a pass? Ah...maybe the police found her envelope more appealing, more accommodating and more satisfying.

Another brilliant idea General. The footpaths should be empty for the people who, because of this emptiness, will no longer come to walk them.

Most of the so called rent you refer to is paid to the shop owner so they can utilize the part of the footpath in front of his/her shop. It is the shop owner that the authorities should be going after and charged with defrauding the government, after all the footpath belongs to the BMA
The shop owners and or property managers do pay the BMA. If the owners don't pay the BMA for footpath use in front of their property the BMA will preempt their 'right' to that section of footpath and rent it out to vendors. The shop owner in effect loses claim on that footpath for however how long. The important thing to remember is that the BMA (or those who 'represent' the BMA) always get paid...always.

Street vendors don't just squat somewhere.
Sidewalk space is very tightly controlled and vendors pay rent. The amount of rent is determined by location desirability. So...are they giving the BMA money? Absolutely. Is this taxation? Depends on how you look at it. Where does this money go? Three guesses...first two don't count.
But...at the end of the day, it's likely that this so called 'crackdown' is primarily a mechanism to raise the rents vendors already pay.

Sounds wonderful and very environmentally correct. But...the key words here are 'giving' and 'free'. It would appear that there will still be plastic bags aplenty, but they intend to make customers to pay for them. Nonetheless, it's hopefully a step in a positive direction.
