It isn't about being in the same financial boat, it is about overcharging!

But it seems this is far out of your sphere of comprehension.

some people don't care cause whatever thai people charge it is probably considered reasonable or a bargain in their home country.

taxi service is at least 300 baht and up converted from US dollars in the US... not to mention when some people travel on vacation they are way more liberal when spending money because they are in Thailand to have fun not pinch a penny.

massage parlors could probably charge up to 500 baht an hour to a tourist and they wont care... while you think this might be a rip off in the US it would easily cost double that.

I have a few friends who visit Bangkok twice a year and they tip 100 baht I keep telling them that's allot but they just shrug off my advice.

IE tourist is partially to blame for the double pricing.

Quick, quick,  it was her fault so I had to kill her. Another Thai guy with no sense of taking responsibility for his actions.

    Geezer

or... he was simply explaining what happened?

People snap sometimes... like the farang who got sucker punched for taking a bat to some guys car and trying to run him over after being slighty cut offed... or the farang who committed by murder by beating another guy to death because he thought the other guy was mistreating a woman.

some people have anger issues and loose control...  its a trait shared by humans not just thai people

I was taught shouldn't be doing CPR on (just) an unconscious person ...CPR if breathing and heart has stopped..
    Not just unconscious.

this is correct... the point of cpr is to get them to breathe on their own or keep their heart pumping long enough for help to arrive.

Not uncommon to crack peoples ribs in the process...

CPR or rescue breathing  is to only be performed on those who have stopped breathing.

first step of CPR check for breathing... IF they are breathing No CPR required

"Surachet - the deputy commissioner for the tourist police."

And people still think the Tourist Police are there to assist tourists ..... they're there to POLICE the tourists. To make sure they don't cause trouble.

just because they  make sure tourists don't cause trouble doesnt mean they dont also assist

Attempted bribery? I didn't read this. If true, you'd hope this suddenly got even more serious.

I would say it is the opinion of many that a company like Ital Thai hasn't succeeded because of business acumen or being particularly good at anything. But rather then win contracts because of the connections and envelopes. They don't need Premchai to do this. In fact they might their construction related metrics might improve without him.

Greasing the wheel is common practice in the business industry

  6. If you are looking for something serious its best not to look to "bar girls"

    Most if not all...

    - Probably have a low upbringing

    - have questionable morals

    - looking for someone to take care of them and not looking for a soul mate

    - Will continuously ask for things and throw a tantrum when they don't get what they want.

    - will probably ditch your ass when they get bored or find someone more to their liking.

    - Will expect a certain lifestyle and will either drive you crazy or leave you if expectations aren't met.

    - and will probably not be able to bring much to the relationship other than their personal baggage and sex...

  7. $2000 is way about the national average in Thailand.  What you might want to take into consideration is your lifestyle... Most Thais can live a decent lifestyle on less than $1000/month. When I first moved to Thailand I was being paid about $1200/month my family who lived in Thailand where quite surprised because they considered it fairly high starting salary. but I was from California and making 6 times this amount. So i had allot of difficulties adjusting for several months. I learned that I could no longer eat a nice restaurant or at the Mall on a regular basis like i use to.. but once i dropped that down to about 1-2 times a month I was able to start saving money.  In anycase goodluck... You should be able to live comfortably on $2000/month and be able to save money if you can adjust to the thai way of living.

Somethings don`t make sense. 150 beds in 12 rooms. That means 12 beds in each room. Guests must have been crammed in like sardines. Seems details have been misconstrued in translation.

If she was renting out 150 beds per night, that`s 37500 baht per day, a very lucrative business. My guess is that this woman must have been involved with more than one hostel.

it is unlikely that she would have been able to fill every single bed consistently.  I would say she would be lucky if she got a quarter of the beds filled.  I sure as hell wouldn't want to stay at a place like that.. it's probably infested with bed bugs.. I can only imagine what type of person would stay at a place like that...(No money and poor hygiene is probably the normal type of customers she attracts)

  9. If this is true then that means Jose straight up attacked and murdered someone without providing any type of warning...(there goes his claim of self-defense)  IF he had stopped for a split second and maybe said something along the lines of "Hey stop that you are hurting her" its very possible none of this might have occurred. Another extremely tragic and heartbreaking story that could have easily been avoided.. ..

Jose needs to go to jail he is obviously a danger to society and hopefully, he can get some help with the mental issues he has.

  10. if you really have a problem with it you can threaten to report them to law enforcement... The government has stated on several occasions tickets must be sold at 80 baht. Vendors are asking for 100 Baht due to barely making any money selling at 80 baht. Also vendors will try to charge you more for a set or packet of duplicate numbers...  IE 5 tickets with identical numbers will usually ask for 550 baht.  I paid 1700 for a packet of 15 one time.

  11. you said, Girlfriend correct not wife?

Why would she think she should be entitled to your house especially after breaking your heart????

I would have immediately said no without a second thought ... Anyone with a once of common sense would never consider giving their house to an ex-girlfriend!

Absolutely Astounding that you are even thinking about giving your home to someone that will more than likely no longer be in your life within the next year!!!!

tell her if she wants your house you should get married see how she reacts to that.

  12. Yeah...

Sounds like Your friend doesn't have much common sense....

She probably could have passed herself off as royalty and the only way to gain access to her fortune is to Marry.

Goodluck, ignoring her might not be the best action if your friend ever wants to marry in the future...

Better to clear things up now rather than later and having to explain why you can't get married. Plus it will probably cost you a whole lot more if the thai wife finds out she has you over a barrel.

So he's done this before goes to jail and let out to kill again

He says he took exception to what was happening.

The owners of this Club should have stepped in.

People need to learn they can't take the into there own hands.

No one deserves to die this way

yeah, good luck with that... It's easy for anyone to say "Ohh I would have done this" or "someone should have stopped it"

but human nature has proven that's not the case. soo many social experiments where people would rather just look the other way or not get involved. Very few people will do the right thing by putting themselves in danger.

I used to think like you until I encountered a group people assaulting 1 man...  I chose to keep walking instead of trying to intervene by rationalizing it'ts none of my business but the plain and simple truth is... I was afraid the group of men would hurt me also if tried to stop it.

When I crossed the Canadian border in to America, I was asked if I had any convictions for assault, like I was going to admit it.

When I crossed the Mexican border in to America, I wasn't even asked for my passport, nor was my hired car searched. No wonder there are so many Mexican illegals in America.

First question is are you white? second question what country is your passport from?

If you are a US citizen trying to get home I am curious as to why would you be asked if you had any convictions for assault.

Regarding your Mexico experience that's just mind-boggling unless they gave you a pass because of being white and a US license plate on the car?

    Excuse me?

Do you think it may be more accurate to use the plural as in "persons"?     There were two undesirable individuals involved in this insane altercation.

And they both hailed from countries that have great relations.

think you kind of missed my point chief,  but whatever sure

Not sure how what you said really relates to or corrects the fact that I am trying to point out "the extremely negative view some people have of Thailand"  In any case  "Some People are trying to shift the blame of what happened to thai government for allowing these two people into the country, rather than blaming the actual 2 people involved in the incident" is that better? (thai people at fault for what happened not the farang that were actually involved)

Precisely. While many of us have to report every 90 days having never even got so much as a traffic ticket in my entire life.

If was here on vacation he wouldn't require a visa. Americans can come and go as they please as long as they don't overstay 30 days.

I mean its possible he is an Ex-pat but I didn't see anything about him actually making his home in Thailand.
