  1. I hope you get a response soon.

    Cheers

It does not matter if there are different names on the account. i just set up a ach transfer from USA to Bangkok Bank Thailand thru BKK Bank New York. No problems did a $3 three day transfer. Here is the big catch fellas Bangkok Bank charges .25 Percent of the transfer there fore i lost 25% of money i sent. Glad i did a small amount everybody was raving how much cheaper it was and that was the way to go. Well you guys do the math. I thought maybe there would be a 150 baht charge or something. Let me know if i am wrong.

On another note tried to get a debit card advance at Siam Bank they are now refusing told to use atm whose charge is now 180 baht. Went to Bangkok Bank they did it no problem. Anybody else can share there latest expierience thanks.

I was wrong on the fee charges sorry about that. The facts are on a ACH transfer from USA to Thailand using Bangkok Bank NY you can opt to pay $20 same day $10 one day and $3 fpr three days. There is a limit of $1000 per day. Bangkok Bank in Thailand charges 200 baht min. and 500 baht maximum based on there 0.25 percent charge. It will still cost about 1500 baht for me to send my cash. Hope this helps somebody out there.

  3. I am curious as to how many anti virus programs the avg guy or girl has running on there computers. First i have 5 different programs including Avast Free, Malaware Bytes Pro. Super anti Spyware, and Spybot and finally Uniblue Speed up you Comp. I had a problem with my modem and TOT sent out there guy and he mentioned my comp. was acting strange probably because i have to many Anti virus programs. This is normal for my comp. because it is a real battle to protect yourself. I wouls just like to get some information if i have overkill or not thanks in advance.

  4. Did you buy the scooter in Bangkok? I need to find a dealer in Bangkok for a new Honda Click or similar

If you search the bike section on Thaivisa classified you should see ads from those that will help foreigners to buy bikes here and will also assist with registration.

I wish it was that simple. Searching the classified only gives me second hand scooters or new big bikes. I haven't seen any adds offering help. Overall search in this forum found one dealer (which haven't yet replied), and using Google I only find big bikes or second hand scooters.

Hey I am in Huay Kwang area just bought a new scooter Yamaha Filano they are $45000 baht and the Honda Click is about the same price. We got the plates in 2 weeks. The scooter is in my wifes name not sure what she needed. There are plenty of motorcycle shops aroung there prices are basically the same. I wish you the best of luck sorry but i will not be trying that kind of trip. Just going down Ratchadapisek is an adventure.
  5. Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions - extra big thanks to dave_boo for the extra info.

We have checked them all out.

Xilisoft looked good. I found a torrent and tested a full edition. Very easy to use, and lots of formatting options- probably the best / most flexible of the lot. Unfortunately, it comes at a price. (I'll be keeping this one on my PC for me to use.)

Format Factory - a little less intuitive, and slowest of the bunch. Ms bino's laptop is decent - core i5 with 4 GB of RAM, but this software took almmost 90 mins to rip a DVD.

RipBot264 wanted us to install the Java Runtime Environment or another extension, which I couldn't be bothered to do. Her laptop is provided by her company and has some specialized / expensive accounting software that she needs to work with, so I didn't want to chance installing something that would screw this up.

Handbrake- I think this is the keeper. It is intuitive enough, lots of options, and by far the fastest- about 45 mins. Freeware price is good.

After I installed and tried them all, I showed them to Ms for her to make the choice of which one she liked best / felt comfortable with. She chose Handbrake because she likes the pineapple on the icon. wacko.png Aaaargh! I don't know why I bother sometimes; can't live with her and can't live without her!

You could probably download the Xilisoft from a torrent site like Kick ass and get it for free. Just a thought.
  6. Good luck Robbie22. Please, please, please post back if you find that half style in XL or larger (for less than a week's wages).

I just left Top Guns on the corner of Rama 4 and Suk 42 where I ended up buying an XXL full helmet because all the beanie styles (that I wanted) were mediums. I did buy another 3/4 style XL helmet that I think I can modify a little bit to fit my fat head.

They had literally hundreds of helmets, but the lady claimed none of the beanie styles were my size.

Still, I recommend the shop if you're looking for a wide selection of helmets. Friendly and patient- very patient.

Thanks for your comments will post back when i find one.

I found my helmet at Big C Ratchada was surprised I have a large head and it fits with room to spare. Index model half helmet 199 baht. Perfect for me. Thanks to those who replied.

  8. Driving a Fino for 4 years. No problems and I added one of those boxes to the back which your passenger can lean on. I stick with Fino because the seats are very comfortable. Bought from the Honda dealer on 3rd/Lenkee. Paid 40k. It's an easy smooth ride.

thank you guys so much for the great info. The wify is leaning toward the new filano it looks pretty nice and i like the big seat. I will get back with my results. Tks again all who responded.
  9. Believe you are saying the Firefox browser default language is Thai? You should Google the problem as the browser makers feel they know better than us and default to what they believe you should be using when doing install and if downloaded here on computer that says located in Thailand often they install in Thai with no option to change. PIA and may require change of location in Windows to an English speaking country in order to download again and install in English and then return setting to Thailand.

I did google but no real help there. Your idea has merit sounds like a possible fix thank you I live near Fortune Town were i bought it will take back and let them solve it. The laptop is for my Thai daughter and she is real happy with it. Just need to tweak some things.

I will report back to Thai Visa so everyone will know how to fix this problem.
