I'm not sure after COVID and new rules and regulations, but before, the embassy would like to have a full schedule with bookings of hotel and tickets for the whole travel, but if you used your home address, nothing of that was anymore needed. We did not even need a confirmed flight ticket this time, and the only documents we provided, was copy of our passports, the online guarantee document and insurance.

That's great! Regarding online guarantee document - was info on it provided by the VFS? Or did you have to find it yourself? And what about bank account statement - it was not required?

It depends more of their relationship, how many times they have met, lenght of relationship, and he guarantee for her.

For Norway there was no proof of income for me as a sponsor anymore,  just a simple statement I did guarantee for her.

For her to prove her income is alot more work and hassel, with documents and therefor better with a sponsor.

Right now the problem is the Visa service center to get time before christmas

I read earlier for Germany, Denmark and Netherland it was chaos, but hopefully he can manage in time if he hurry up.

If Op have another schengen nationality and a fixed adress he will save alot of documentation using his adress for final destination and his own embassy.

found this about the danish situation

    https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/denmark-urges-thai-citizens-to-apply-now-for-schengen-visas-for-christmas-trips-due-to-serious-delays/

The things is that we aren’t planning to visit my country of origin - only Germany and The Netherlands.

Apparently, some agency told my gf that it’s not a problem

  3. Has anyone recently successfully got a Schengen visa for thai girlfriend?

My girlfriend wants to visit Germany (main destination) and The Netherlands and she will apply at German Embassy.

The situation is that I will be sponsoring her for the trip and we will travel together.

The thing is that I’m not a German national, but an EU national. The plan is that we will meet at Frankfurt airport and travel from there together.

Is me being not a national of the main destination as a sponsor won’t be a problem to obtain Schengen visa?

    Moved to the correct forum.

You have to obtain a "Thailand Pass" online for which you have to pre-book and pre-pay for 2 different nights (night of arrival and then night of day 5) at a hotel which offers "test and Go", this will include a PCR test on each of those days.

    The site is https://tp.consular.go.th/

It is not yet open for "Test and Go" applications, will open sometime in the coming week after the new rules are published i nthe Royal Gazette

On the day of arrival it is complete quarantine in your room until the PCR test result comes back .

On day 5 you also must stay at the hotel until the result is in but unclear if you have to stay completely in your room. Between these 2 days i.e. days 1-4, you can go anywhere. If this sounds crazy - it is. New policy just announced. The day or arrival and day 5 T&G hotels do not have to be the same place, but you may  have trouble finding a T&G hotel upcountry.

You will also have to show proof of health insurance to get the "Thailand Pass". Previously this has had to be at least US$50,000 of cover that includes COVID. There is discussion of possibly changing the details of this but it is not yet known if it will change and if so, how -- Test and Go was suspended in late December and will reopen Feb 1 and the final details are still unclear.

The above described the "Test and Go" system. It is also possible to enter Phuket and a few  other provinces under a "Sandbox scheme" . These also require 2 PCR tests, but you are free to go anywhere in the "sandbox" location (island etc) for 7 days and after that can go anywhere in the country.

Note that, under either scheme,  if on either the day or arrival of day 5 you test positive, all bets are off and you will face mandatory quarantine even if completely asymptomatic.

Things change very frequently and could easily change again between now and when you would return.

Frankly if this is just for vacation, I'd advise against it at this time.

I am thinking to do the same as OP, but the difference is that I already have Thai pass (arrived with it on Dec 13).

Do you know what happens in my case if I go for short holiday and come back to BKK?

I must also mention I am on METV and thus my holiday is kind of a visa run

  5. Hi!

I am in Thailand on a METV visa and first entry stay ends on Feb 10. I arrived in mid Dec via Test & Go program.

    I have 2 questions/doubts

    1. If I go to some foreign place, say in Feb 9, like Dubai and come back after a few days - do I only need to quarantine 1 day and do the PCR test, same as previously?
    2. If instead I decide to go to ChaengWattana to extend for 30 days - do I need to book an appointment somewhere or can just show up there, pay 1900 thb and get the extension?

    Thank you!

I got one at the Thai Embassy in Denmark in October. As far as I remember it took less than a week to get.

What did you attach at points #4 and #9? (see screenshot) Is passport enough to attach there? I am Lithuanian but applying through Danish embassy, since this is where I have to apply through.

@RequiemIt might be helful if you confirmed which country within the EU you're looking for advice on, as has been pointed out each Member State has their own rules for your scenario, which may or may not apply to you.

You seem to be posting from Lithuania.

Yes, I am. I assume no one is here from Lithuania so I don’t expect anyone to know.

I actually got a reply from authorities that we can get married while she’s on a Schengen visa and she can then apply for a temporary stay permit and get a national visa while waiting for the decision.

  8. Hi!

I'm looking for info, ideally from EU posters, who got married to thai girlfriend in their home country (EU).

She will be coming to EU on a 3 month Schengen visa, as soon as these visas are being issued again.

Question - is it possible to register a marriage in home country while she's on Schengen visa and, more importantly, is it possible for her to get a permit to stay permanently in home country as soon as the marriage is registered? Or will she have to fly back to Thailand, get the permit and come back again?

    Thank you!

I should read the thread again....but what has this got to do with the German Embassy?

Since Lithuania doesn't have an Embassy in Thailand, German Embassy is taking care of Lithuania matters. It's the same for all smaller countries that don't have Embassies in Thailand. Some bigger countries are responsible for smaller country matters.

A schengen visa has many different types.

She cannot get a National Visa!!! Does she meet the criteria?

    National Visas

The national visa of “D” category is granted to the certain individuals who are to be studying, working or permanently residing in one of the Schengen countries. The national visa can be of a single entry, granted to the people who are in need of residing in the Schengen country for a certain period of time and for a sole purpose after which they shall return to their country. On the other hand a multi-entry national visa is also granted for certain individuals, allowing its holder to travel in and out of this Schengen country as he/she pleases and also travel throughout the whole Schengen Area without additional visa requirements.

In order to obtain a multi entry national visa, one must meet the certain criteria:

    • An international student program will grant a visa for a period of not more than one year.
    • An international student that is about to start a full course of studies in one of the Schengen countries. Again the visa is issued for a period of one year with the possibility of extending it.
    • A pedagogical work at a higher institution or research center in any of the Schengen countries, regarding the person and its close family members.
    • A professional who is traveling in any of the Schengen countries due to its expertise be it a sportsman, an artist or any other professional of its kind with the purpose of sharing its expertise.
    • Emergency cases as a medical condition that prevents the individual leave the Schengen Area at the designated time frame.

I'm not sure, maybe this National Visa is based on a permission to temporary reside in Lithuania.

Yes, I understand that Schengen visas have different types, I'm wondering if any of those are possible to obtain. Aiming for Visitor visa based on Invitation if there's such type.

I am waiting now for a reply from a thai agency which is a 3rd party in helping prepare all required documents for the German Embassy. Because I see the appointment written National Visa General Appointment. Wondering why they indicated such reason, maybe they know more....

If you live in Lithuania you come under Lithuania law (which I know nothing about, but national laws try to make it difficult to bring in a foreign gf or even a wife)...if you lived in Germany you come under EU law and the "right to a family life"......the question then arises does a gf constitute family life?

Ignoring all that...I can't see any Schengen visas being issued for along time with covid on the rampage.

Lithuania is a member of EU. I think as long as thai nationals are not forbidden to enter Lithuania legally (they do) (if have a visa), visas should be issued. But that's just my and your opinion, what actually happens is a mystery ????

Are you German? if so I think you have an uphill struggle in front of you. If you are any other EU nationality then I think the German authorities will find it difficult to refuse a visa.

No, I am Lithuanian. We plan to only stay in Lithuania. Why do you think they will find it hard to refuse?

While since I have done it, but don't you need a visitors visa for a specific country first...then apply for a Schengen visa? Could be wrong.....

She should apply for a Type-C visa for purposes of Tourism from the Lithuanian embassy.

Keyword: girlfriend, not wife - so maybe not so easy.

You may need to provide some supporting documents e.g. invitation letter

I am reading that she might get National (D) Visa. At least this is what is written in the appointment with German Embassy (German Embassy is responsible for Lithuania matters) slip. But still a bit confused.

She will be visiting based on me inviting her, so I am covering the financial and accommodation requirements, invitation.

  14. Hi!

Do you know any thai who got a Schengen Visa recently? My girlfriend wants to visit me and I see that it's not forbidden for thais to arrive to Lithuania (I live there), but German Embassy told me schengen visas are still not being issued.

Any other way for her to arrive, maybe different kind of visa I'm wondering..
