  1. Saying that he was probably drunk is not a personal affront to his character. Intoxication is a leading cause of death from a variety of causes. That’s a fact. And it’s therefore not unreasonable to suspect intoxication as a possible factor. So nobody is “blaming foreigners”. And everybody knows that the infrastructure is 3rd world, nobody is discounting that. But everybody also knows that barriers are there for a reason, and nobody pushed him. Until a formal autopsy is performed no one will know for sure and people are entitled to speculate and they will do so.
  2. I’m all for death penalty to those who deserve it but There’s one good reason to stop it. There will inevitably be innocent people and the falsely accused put to death before they can prove their innocence. There have been dozens of people falsely accused, mostly black, executed in the US. Many others were exonerated just before their execution. In Southeast Asia, China, Russia, political prisoners are falsely accused and some executed.
  3. That’s a pretty crass remark, You don’t get out much, do you?
  4. The camera. Why do you ask? Is there a reason to doubt her credibility? There is undoubtedly plenty of video footage - have you seen it? The camera doesn’t lie. In law the credibility of the witness is taken into account by the courts and law enforcement. It is extremely unlikely that anyone would make something like this up and endure the inevitable fallout. The police can usually tell when someone is lying, that comes with the job. When they find him they will question him and hear his version. Then they will decide whether probable cause exists.
  5. The 999th reason not to get that drunk in Thailand. People just minding their own business generally don’t have any problems here. He probable won’t even remember what happened.
  6. That would be perfect. But if someone unfamiliar with the “business” encounters this and becomes upset, emotions dominate over rationality. You have to be careful where you “shop”. If someone is new to Thailand and hasn’t familiarized themselves with the country with information online then these things are more likely. I think he’s pretty aware now
  7. Isn't it nice to see some amusing news rather than hear all the sorrows of mankind?
  8. From a distance, yeah funny to look at, but yes they are ɑ$$h0Iels.
  9. Interesting point, I bet a lot of people haven’t considered that. Wonder if it means that stock brakes might be inadequately designed. Good to know, thanks.
  10. You can’t educate the uneducable.
  11. You'll have to bring the police a fatter brown envelope that the one they're already getting. Wait, instead, why not let the police make a commission on the fines for every conviction? Nahhh, too much like common sense.
  12. Of course - for those of us raised in a brothel - just like family
  13. Not gonna happen. Same as your Red Bull guy.
  14. There's no way in heII anyone at all ever would know how much money I have and where. Also, I wouldn't advertise it with Rolex watches, gold jewelry and necklaces.
  15. Debit cards usually have iron clad limits. Credit cards can raise limits to a moderate degree is you ask them, but in both cases they will alert you first and ask if the transaction is legit.
  16. How did the thugs know he had that kind of money? Loose lips sink ships.
  17. I'm from the US. I've seen 6 murders over 30 years in my neighborhood there, and a gang shooting next to my house in Hartford CT 2 years ago. The US is by far the most violent country in the world, they were shooting each other and killing over mask rules during covid. one of the reasons I came here, where I have managed to live a peaceful life for 11 years.
  18. Never. Why should they? For you? If I were you I would not indulge in such "whataboutism" since nobody cares to hear it and it does no good. Instead of complaining about something you can do nothing about you should do something to help. Unless you want to protest and picket your local police station, what Thai people do is their concern and not yours. Did you forget that this is not your country? TIT. If police already have their share of local problems then they have every right to tell foreigners they are not welcome to come here and do the same thing. If you're going to complain I suggest you find a cause in which you can do some good, like maybe picking up litter in some of the nicer places such as Koh Larn. Maybe do some volunteer work for the poor.
  19. As I've said before it's much worse in the US. People are armed with AR15 assault rifles. There was a gang shooting 2 years ago right next to my house in Hartford CT (I stay there in the summer). I'm sure like any place Thailand has its pockets of malfeasance, but none of it has crossed paths with me in 11 years, and I've even survived at least 10 trips to Pattaya and yes Soi Buakao. I think some people manage to be trouble magnets, or they simply don't understand or don't know what they're doing or where they're going, are careless or too drunk, or a collection of the aforementioned. I hope all you people stay safe, it's not hard to do if you put your mind to it.
  20. Road rage is much worse in the US, people shoot to kill.
  21. Good for you. I'm imagining that you would not exactly look like a good target for these *******s. I'm in good shape for my age (67) but I also don't drive except motorbikes in smaller towns. I have a good instinct for avoiding accidents due to many years of both driving amongst American *******s and riding motorcycle for 40 years.
  22. In the US it would be called assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, or even escalated to attempted murder if the facts warrant it. But TIT.
