  1. To get drunk it was Jack Daniels on the rocks, otherwise it was beer or mixed drinks like vodka and cranberry. I quit in 2007, now I drink an occasional beer, and NEVER get drunk. Life has so much more to offer when you are sober. All the details you miss when drunk, plus avoiding jail for drunk driving (been there done that)
  2. Re read the story. You definitely missed that part. But there are easy ways to avoid these scams. NEVER, but NEVER hand your money over to any individual, or "brokerage" whose reputation you can't check on, or respond to unknown phone numbers or websites. Also, there's a wealth of info online about hoe to avoid scams, as well as some pretty funny youtube channels of scammers being baited and exposed and even arrested due to the work of hackers who hack into scammer computers and reverse the connection.
  3. It's too bad she didn't do her homework on scams and on good honest and safe investments. Certain rules apply. NEVER entrust your funds to another party. Do business either directly with the fund, or with a reputable and licensed broker. I did my research and picked a top rated fund whom I deal with directly, the company was #1 and #2 in its ratings. It's the Vanguard High Yield Index fund and has generated a return of over $100,000 on my initial investment of $150,000 in 2017. It pays a quarterly dividend of about $1100.00
  4. Sure, good, so long as they don't let Israeli ex military punks in to make trouble. Yeah, I know, there's no practical way to do that, but we can wish.
  5. These individuals with violent tendencies can usually be identified before the relationships get off the ground. There are always telltale signs, it's so sad that so many women don't figure it out out until it's too late. Very likely that his anger and violence issues led to her wanting to break up with the guy. So heartbreaking, so much suffering inflicted to the friends and family of the deceased. Rest in Peace.
  6. It's like cutting off one head and two more grow. The best thing is to recognize the commonality in all of these. Look for the telltale signs. In the US right now you get calls from "medicare" and a bot voice, then you get switched to someone with an Indian accent. I usually say "so when did medicare move its offices to India" or "how's the weather in India" then maybe something about them being morons or maybe going to hell when they die or bringing shame to your country and its people. Shoping is safe as long as you're observant. It's very unlikely that you'll run into any identity theft as long as you've been careful with your information and never give it to anyone but an established merchant. You needn't inconvenience yourself out of paranoia. I've never ever been the victim of a scam in my entire life, and in fact I turned tables on one scammer by sending her a fake check leading her to run around all over Bangkok to try to cash it. Just learn the patternes and be deligient is all you need to do. There's plenty of information online about how to avoid scams, such as never clicking on a link sent to you by an unknown source, and also never responding to any message that you don't already know the sender.
  7. We can't expect the best choice of words from these news sources. They choose drama over accuracy.
  8. Half the people in the US have their heads screwed on right, the rest voted for Trump. The US is a shίtshoω right now and getting worse. The military has been called out to silence protesters in Los Angeles. I'm glad I moved here 12 years ago, but what's happening in the US is terribly disturbing.
  9. Just as these people have settled back into good wages after being devastated by Covid, now this. So sad and unfair to them.
  10. With Bolt you can cancel the ride even up to the time he arrives. I've had drivers arrive on the wrong side of a highway and refuse to U-turn. I not only cancelled, but was able to lodge a complaint against the driver.
  11. It would be helpful if they did their homework and disclosed whether this is a new strain and what it's called, and if there has been a vax developed specifically for the new strain if it is in fact a new strain. Also, we should be informed as to how many of these people were previously vaxxed, as well as telling us whether our own previous vax is good for the new strain (most probably yes)
  12. The big question is will they be priced competitively? I typically spend about $600.00 ine way
  13. All the finger wagging about travel insurance aside, why invite trouble by carousing to the point of stupid drunkenness in places like Pattaya? Yes, I know, young people will do this, situations like this are tragic in the end, I wish people understood the real risks of such careless behavior. he should at least have had friends watching over him.
  14. I don't think there is any forethought of any sort including go fund me.
  15. Correct. Not a sleeping pill. It's a sedative, anti anxiety.
  16. Nothing to see here folks except: "persistent undercurrent of speculation" which is only created by these news stories to create drama and to sell advertising.
  17. In the modern world there is a cure for losing face,
  18. "Cambodian, Burmese and Karen ethnic origin". So Karens are so widespread that now they're their own ethnicity?
  19. Do you mean singling people out by their ethnicity and nothing else and blocking their entry? Fortunately Thailand is generally and officially averse to such bigotry and prejudice. Most "undesirables" can be prosecuted since they eventually get caught, as in this case. Better to let a few lawbreakers in for the sake of preserving the vast majority of innocent people's rights. This is the fundamental principle of law and democracy, yes, even in your country. So, to paraphrase, Thailand will never learn ethnic hate and bigotry, and thank god for that.
  20. Agreed. Simple. But the question still exists for motorbike taxi passengers.
  21. He should have been brought to a hospital. That's what they do in the US.
  22. I have sued Booking Holdings, the parent company, at least a half dozen times, with one pending as we speak. Fortunate for me they are in the same state as my US address. I sued them for a Priceline (their subsidiary) over an airline refund, and they had to pay me $1,000.00 to settle. Look for any office they may have in your country and you may be able to do the same. I don't take any sh߆ from any of these people.
  23. That's funny, I make one of those once a day. I take milk of magnesia for it.
