  1. There's something wrong with your thought process. I also don't think you can read. The problem stems from people NOT having a fear of theft, so that NOTHING IS stopping them from wearing a small fortune around their necks. You're not being realistic, and you don't grasp the big picture. There isn't a single place in the civilized world where you won't be targeted if you're stupid enough to paint a target on your back. No target, no problem. Thailand is in fact one of the safer places, in other countries you'll be beaten and shot as well as robbed. If you choose to wear gold and diamonds without a private security detail you are choosing to invite trouble. Why does someone need to show off? No one here is impressed or gives your gold a second glance, except for the guys who will steal it. I wear some pretty nice necklaces and jewelry, silver and turquoise, and I also don't walk through dangerous areas, because I know where they are and I'm not stupid. They don't steal silver, it's not obvious, and I'm invisible to them. I get more compliments on MY jewelry than any of these ldiots and their chains and watches. These guys are walking into the lion's den wearing raw meat around their neck. There will never be enough law enforcement to counter this, it's been going on since the days of the Roman Empire. Would you rather the police ignore serious crimes so they can allocate thousands of officers to patrol every square meter of every town? Do you want to pay them? Do you want the taxpayers to finance it? Raise taxes? The locals don't have this problem because they know better. Why should they pay for the tourists' stupidity? There are plenty of warnings all over the net about this kind of thing. 99% of tourists actually heed those warnings. Get your feet down to the earth and the real world if you want to express opinions that actually make sense.
  2. Iran will apologize and then blame Trump, which in fact is only logical. Iran would prefer not to attack innocent people, but they have limited options to defend itself, and turning world opinion against Trump is a legitimate one. Note that the ship wasn't sunk nor was anyone hurt. Iran is simply out to disrupt commerce. Iran is creating an economic crisis which will be blamed on Trump. And he deserves it.
  3. Besides the legal issues, imagine the potential harm and disfigurement likely from an unlicensed practitioner who is not subject to inspection and rules of hygiene. There was recently a woman whose nose was rotting away Michael Jackson style from infection, and she was actually treated by a "legit" clinic. Better that these women learn self esteem and self respect and not feel like they've got to look like movie stars to be accepted by the world. This is what the tiktok universe drives people to. I happen to like the broad ethnic noses in pretty women, it's a natural variation of asian beauty. But the bottom line is that what makes someone truly attractive only comes across in person, with the genuine smile, affection, and charisma of a nice person.
  4. Based on what little I know, the low level dealers don't put up the money for the inventory, they pay out of their sales. These are usually addicts who have sold their souls to feed their addiction. Look at the photo, very underweight guy, likely a meth addict. 64 years old. A wretched human being leading a wretched life. Sadly, there's really no way to get to the top of the chain - which is likely the mafia of any of a number of countries, and those countries such as China and North Korea will do nothing.
  5. Many big cities will start with the presence of specific ethnic groups, which then become an attraction for organized criminals from their country, such as China, Japan, and Russia. In the US from the 1900s to the 2000s it was the Italian mafia. It’s like a harvest.
  6. Isn’t that the name of a band? Oh wait, that was Bare Naked Ladies.
  7. In this case, there is a business/employment exemption
  8. Always get your own copies of x-rays and MRI. Then you can easily get second opinions from multiple doctors if you feel the need.
  9. Standard con scenario, preying on the gullible. Who in their right mind would invest in the Thai stock market when there are dozens of other sensible avenues for safe and prosperous investment? I use a Vanguard High Yield Index mutual fund, which has returned incredibly well over the past 8 years. Vanguard is a top rated firm, and they lived up to that.
  10. You're funny. It does nothing of the sort. It would seem you never mastered reading comprehension, let alone basic law and even a rudimentary knowledge of the constitution. You're seeing something that's not there. You're looking at apples and seeing oranges. This doesn't do anything at all but in fact apply the rule of law against a would be king and tyrant BECAUSE he tried to be a king and tyrant. It validates the position of the non MAGA, which is that much, if not most, of what Trump has done is illegal. But carry on. We could use a few more laughs and you're a natural comedian. People like you who see only in terms of "us vs them" in an ideological civil war will invariably impose their simple minded interpretations onto a complex political landscape because you haven't the capacity to actually understand law or what's really going on. YOU'RE the problem. Divisiveness is the problem. Now I bet the readers here will thoroughly enjoy your wounded ego response. I don't care myself, because neither you or anything happening in the US can touch my life in any way, and that is one of many reasons why I'm here. People like you who bring their malice and hate here don't belong. Please leave.
  11. I tend to agree. "Innocent until proven guilty" . There's no way to know what really happened until further investigation is complete. It's very tough if a professional partnership is contained within a marriage for exactly this reason, there is double the stress when disputes arise - if one goes bad then everything will likely go down the tubes. A bad relationship and divorce are terribly hard on children. All of that is now over. The wife is more likely than not a devoted mother OUTSIDE of the marriage and financial partnership. A mother's instinct is nearly indestruct
  12. Only in non US countries can you read comments without a single person shrieking at the top of their lungs about their gun "rights" under a constitution. American here. What a relief to see some actual common sense. What a relief to be living here. Meanwhile massacres in the US happen almost weekly. I agree that the Thai general public has no real need to walk around with guns, but I also agree that people who commit crimes don't give a rat's ɑss about gun laws. Somehere in between are momentary acts of anger and crimes of passion which I think this law may curb. Angry people without guns are not so deadly. So (my opinion) you can affect the statistical likelihood of gun crime by keeping all lawful guns off the street. It has to be better than the US if the overall climate is one of restraint rather than rabid insistence on walking around armed.
  13. The OA visa requires health insurance, unless the laws have changed in the last few years. Bear in mind that if it's not your own "money in the bank" the agent is technically committing fraud by creating a fake bank account, along with bribing immigration officials to look the other way. There is always a chance that the agent will get caught doing it.
  14. Whack a mole. As long as something that people want or are addicted to making it illegal will result in more crime, not less users. All the way back 100 years to the alcohol prohibition in the US which spawned the likes of Al Capone, as well as plenty of illegal speakeasies for the wealthy to indulge, insulated from the law. It's actually tragic. My brother died of his addictions at age 42
  15. Well, it's human nature - it's hard NOT to generalize and stereotype, especially if information sources are limited geographically and facts in limited supply. I'm American, and from where I sit I see equal amounts of equally horrendous crimes happening in the US and every other "civilized" country. Mexico and South America are probably the worst of the worst. if it was a real word it would be Myanmarans. Sounds like some 50s movie aliens. "The Invasion Of The Myanmarans of Venus". Maybe just call em Martians for short
  16. No, just business as usual. For actual fascism, see: America.
  17. Legitimate reputable mutual funds don't cold call people. In 2017 I had a fire insurance settlement and I looked into investments. I did it the right way. I searched out one of the top brokerage firms, Vanguard, and discussed my goals and options. I picked the High Yield Index fund because it paid monthly dividends which would supplement my social security. Over that time period and ten years prior, back to Obama, it has averaged 10%. So these things are possible, but just use some common sense and don't take advice from a friend or a stranger or anyone other than a professional fiduciary or brokerage manager.
  18. Hopefully this will turn out to be someone who just didn't care to stay in touch, but otherwise OK. But I agree with some of you that the regular police should have been immediately involved, we all know that it is easy to track people using CCTV. Hopefully he's OK
  19. Your humanity and compassion are simply stunning. Bet you're real popular at parties
  20. Throw the perpetrator into a den of wild pit bulls and let them avenge their brother.
  21. The mega wealthy don't subscribe to any view, left right up down or democrat/republican. The obscenely rich will support anyone who makes them richer in any way. They are the ones who control policies. But That kind of stuff is obviously way over your head.
  22. The economy has become sterile, purely profit driven, and devoid of humanity. In the old days a business or company had moral standards, the standards of the owners, who identified with the workers and their families with mutual respect. By the 80s companies had grown bigger and the executives wealthier, and no longer had or needed the human factor in their economic equation, because humanity didn't make them any richer, but ruthless greed did. So wages no longer rose to keep pace with inflation, and the scales tipped wildly in favor of the wealthy businesses and against the worker. Additionally, businesses began to outsource their labor to cheap less developed countries and economies full of people willing to work cheaply. And yes, this is the inevitable result of unbridled unregulated runaway capitalism. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
  23. Maybe he didn't submit his brown envelopes or they were too light? Brave yes, but that's an awful lot of money to lose as well, so lots of incentive to report it. . reminiscent of the old mob days in the US when small businesses would get shaken down if they didn't pay protection money.
  24. My conclusion over many years, having come from racist America and knowing it when I see it, is that Thai people are among the least racist cultures in the world. That said, in the context of overall human nature, sure, this is going to happen, just as any behavior will statistically appear from time to time. I'm still quite happy with the status quo, this lady is maybe one out of thousands who happens to have a bad attitude.
