  1. Anyone who uses one of the "visa services" had better be cautious and have some kind of backup plan, like learning how to do it yourself. Especially if it's the kind of service that makes that fake deposit of the 800,000 baht. Money laundering of that sort can be traced.

  3. Racist comments are a violation of forum policy, and an offense to the rest of us. Self deport please.
  4. Only a heartless and calloused individual would "blame the victim" in a case like this. Especially not being directly involved or privy to specific details, but rather judging by a mere news story. I have no respect for judgmental narrow minded people who lack empathy or compassion for fellow human beings. Such people do not fit with the Thai culture around them, and don't belong here. People are emotionally vulnerable, especially when it comes to searching for love to fill a lonely life, it's how we're made, and anyone can be victimized by a good con artist. That's why romance scammers have proliferated unchecked for decades. No victim deserves it, or deserves to be vilified for making that mistake.
  5. These materials are often used in test equipment such as flow meters, thickness gauges, moisture density gauges etc. I realize creating drama in these forums is more fun, but you might try looking things up if you really want to learn. Such as, nuclear plants are in fact steam turbines in which steam is generated by nuclear fission rather than coal or fossil fuels.
  6. remember that even old farts like us were young once. My indulgences were in the 60s and 70s and if I hadn't wised up I might be an old drug addled grandpa right now. Undoubtedly this is a case of drug use being passed down through the family. I feel sorry for these people, the real bad guys and criminals are the Chinese gangs who traffic in drugs and human beings, taking advantage of the addicted. I know nothing of the subject, but I suspect drug rehab treatment is not a thing in Thailand, but I hope I'm wrong. My brother died of an OD at age 42 in 2002.
  7. And that's all there is to it. Harmless cosplay. And not illegal if it's not done to impersonate students. People who are full of evil themselves love to read evil intent where there is none.
  8. It's no worse than before, there is just more news coverage than ever.
  9. Why should they? It's their country, they are not the intruders, interlopers, disruptors. They have a right to hold outsiders to any standards they deem fit. How does YOUR country treat immigrants and minorities?
  10. I guess SOMEONE has to 'splain this to you - many are seeking to escape persecution and death because of the Ukraine war, or do you not read anything besides aseannow? I'm sure that is not what they tell immigration or news writers. I've heard it straight from the Russians themselves. So I'd say they're entitled to a symphony orchestra full of violins.
  11. Perhaps you're not aware that the citizens of a country are not responsible for the deeds of its leaders? Perhaps you are also not aware that many Russians are fleeing persecution, arrest, and imprisonment for opposing the Ukraine war? As well as fleeing because they don't want to be conscripted and sent to their certain death there? Perhaps you are not even aware there is a war in Ukraine? I just recently met and had a nice chat with a Russian couple whose answer to my first question, why did they come here, was answered with "because our country wants to kill us". So, just askin', where's YOUR humanity in all this? How many ethnic minorities are you afraid might take over your nice safe territory, in a country that was never yours in the first place?
  12. Both stupid and careless. Lacking in the common sense that it was not worth the risk. Must have assumed they'd never get caught.
  13. Right. The property owners lease out the property, it is the lessee that is responsible for what goes on there. Unless it can be proven that the owners were complicit.
  14. I’m from the US. She’ll do some serious jail time for sure, vehicular homicide is no joke, fleeing the country made this very bad in the eyes of the law.
  15. Based on my brief wiki search it appears that Bangkok Hospital Group Co. Ltd. is a private for profit hospital and not government subsidized.
  16. Which Thailand are you living in? I have been to Phaya Thai 1 hospital many many times, from routine treatments to several emergencies, and that includes dental work. I have consistently been treated with sensitivity and compassion, and the professionals there are exemplary in their dedication. I did it all as an outpatient and including meds I have never paid much more than about $300 US. I have been equally satisfied with other hospitals including Bangkok Hospital, where I got my Covid booster. But go ahead and complain, it's probably all you know how to do, and clearly you're not happy unless you're complaining about something. One experience does not define an entire country. And I find your toilet story dubious. There are numerous people online who make up stories to embellish a point. I'm personally quite happy here after 10 years, and have never encountered nor directly heard of anything such as you describe. BTW, did your dead neighbor complain about being left on the floor? Did you even so much as help get him onto a bed?
  17. You need to get your facts straight before your bad advice causes serious problems for someone. As of right now you need an international or Thai drivers license, the police are staging checkpoints and handing out 1000 baht fines. Anyone with questions about this can simply go online to REPUTABLE sources and check the requirements, but CERTAINLY do NOT trust forums like this for obvious reasons. I have been stopped and fined twice during Covid. Drivers license is easy and cheap.
  18. People, if you buy insurance make sure you also have or know a lawyer you can bring into play for situations like this. It should be part of your plan and preparation. As soon as you bring an attorney in even without filing action you have raised the stakes and presented the insurer with the likelihood of paying huge damages and legal fees, and suddenly paying the actual claim is easier and cheaper. I have done this many times, enough times that I have often brought action on my own without an attorney and gotten results.
  19. Funny how she mentions buying insurance - but nothing about safety and being careful when driving. She doesn't sound like she's willing to own up and accept responsibility for this. Insurance would not erase the scars and disabilities incurred, but proper skills would have prevented the whole thing. The best insurance is safe driving practices and skills. A motorbike is not a kid's toy and can kill you if you don't take driving one seriously.
  20. Because the social issue of accidents caused by inexperienced and unlicensed drivers is a valid topic for discussion. Because it is fair based on statistics and even on the facts of the article to infer certain things about this one. I have ridden a motorbike in my home country and this one for many decades. First and foremost it is highly likely that she was impaired either by a lack of motorbike driving skills and/or drinking. I would personally bet money that not only does she not have insurance, she also doesn't have a motorbike license, because those two responsibilities go hand in hand. The problem of unlicensed and inexperienced motorbike renters is epidemic in Thailand, and this is quite often the result. So you may have a theoretical point as far as it goes, but the commenters also have a point based on the story and also the bigger picture into which it falls. Since this is not about a crime we don't have to treat her as "innocent until proven guilty", but whether or not it's likely she was to blame for all the reasons discussed. It appears more likely than not. And remember that these are just opinions.
  21. A shallow, insensitive comment devoid of all compassion in the face of this tragedy and all the suffering it brings to the cop's family and friends. Says all we need to know about you, Mr. Dj Silver. You're not welcome here, please leave.
  22. Not in a million years. Not unless it happened 5 times a day along with school shootings once a month
