What if the people voted to stop the ban on alcohol during elections...If voting is so important, they should be allowed absence from work or other duties. Hell, why not just a public holiday. Gosh, I guess I should go back home for this kinda thinking...Wait, there are long lines that go on forever to vote back home...noooooo. Damn capitalists!
On a more stern note, their happy go lucky alcohol bans remind me of a poorly skilled parent with the mindset from before there were telephones..

Upon glancing at the title of the thread...I'm relieved it's not related to gunfire...Given, how that seems to be the norm now a days...
Wear a mask! I'd rather take Russia's vaccine, than Pfizers. But I probably won't have much options...

This and then sometimes the alcohol ban! Nooooooooooooo! What's next? Thai TV!? Serenity now!
Well, hey, at least they aren't blaming it on the most vulnerable and weak in society...like the homeless...

He is by far one of the tightest rappers out there. I admire his lyrics. I suggest you listen and read up on em...
"we all gonna need vaccinations..."

Hell yeah! I believe that! Cheers to that! ????

The Baht has risen against the $US no more or less than currencies of perceived safe haven value or gold.
The reality of it is that the US$ is an imposed exchange comparison that has no genuine value at all !
Given the multiple trillions printed by the US it would have almost no value at all if the Gold Standard was still in effect. For the majority serviceable "debt" is now the measure of relative wealth.
Why do you think Bezos laughs like a freakin demon?
Bitcoin seems to be more of an endeavor as more money continues to be printed..again..and again. If, I can recall, there isn't even a 'gold standard' to back the dollar. But that has been for years..Correct me if I'm mistaken..

I feel I'd rather take Russia's vaccine than the one put out in the states by Pfizer. I believe I read somewhere the name of the company that will have it's product distributed in Thailand. Perhaps, I should read more..

Nice thread. Thank you. Need something like this sometimes! Helps to remember when I first arrived.

Never watched it. Should I?

Good question. Maybe in the future this will be true.

Back when a local 7-11 was selling Beer Lao, I would joke with a Thai buying LEO about it. They never seem to find much humor in it.
Beer Lao! Nice!
I'm just not into Chang. Not willing to put myself through it. 555 Seems it was good years ago though. Thai men don't seem to like bitter beers nor dark.
-
At least they had it out within an hour. That's good.

Not surprising. But hey there are plenty of shops. Just go to another and get some somtam for 30-40 THB.
Next time, you could ask how much and then say no, it's too expensive and walk away!?
Time to learn some Thai! Maybe?
How many chili do you put in yours? 3 for me.

This is completely objective and based on experiences. After teaching for some years now and it is something I really enjoy, I find myself wanting more people to realize all aspects of working environments while teaching here. (Not just from some long time seasoned falang who has worn their shoes for too long) This includes the interactions and objective views particularly with NON-NES / Filipinos while working alongside Thai people in Thai schools.
After reading & talking about it, there seems to be a general common view but of course there are always positives to focus on as well.
I find NON-NES particularly, Filipinos to be very negative and continually 'stirring the pot' sort of speak all the while being quite petty people. It's like they can't simply go to work and be done. They seem be a cult like group and have serious issues if one does not wish to 'chat them up' enough. Never talk about personal opinions or anything negative as they will go straight to a Thai to tell them all. Lastly, as we know given they are not NES, they must be more subservient and fall in line more but this includes the atmosphere of the school such as how rough they handle the students or how they slam chairs and books down. If Thais do it, they will also, including being rough with the students.
Frankly, and I'd never thought I'd say this but I really detest working Filipinos given the lowbrow and 'high school' type character that seems to be apparent in just about most of them.
Did I mention some of them really take it to heart NES get more money then they do? Bounce off! It is not my problem! ????????

Offer them all a government job.
Safe and secure.
Nice comment. This is exactly what should be happening. Especially in the States. Federal Works Program.
The wealthy / capitalist class would rather have the way it is now..

*Santa says to the expat*
What do you want for Christmas? A vaccine...

Everyone has got their own methods and ways of course. When I'm at the gym, I want to get in and out alongside not resting too long.
I notice Asian folks don't really do much lower body work especially leg presses or squats. I find myself to be the opposite. Guess that's why me arms are flimsy!
Whats up with gyms not opening up early in the morning!? Seems to be the norm here. I can't wait until 10am! Run!

they'll just ban alcohol instead if numbers start to rise
Considering tourism alongside the amount of holidays here. WTH is up with all the alcohol bans...not to mention simply going to the nearby shop that will sale it to you...
*Goes to a shopping mall, wants to enjoy a meal, can't order a beer...* Christ!

Not sure why but it's like I can't find myself to take anything seriously from this man. Rather so, just wait to see what actually happens...

Really satisfied with my last trip using a train here. An improvement with buying online would be great!

That area is near LAOS. They appear to be old.
I wonder if they will have a bomb suited disposal unit or a robot in the process. Or just pick em up bare handed?

I'd say a comfortable place to work is one in which this isn't a big issue. Yeah if there isn't much to do, than sure why not?
You could have them provide something to you on a daily basis. Maybe a checklist to be completed or a daily summary from them. See what they say. ????
If you wanted to be more indirect, use IT.

I don't think I've ever met more petty folks before...
Wear a mask! Consider others!
No Christmas carols!? No wonder there are so many teaching here!

Local elections bring Phuket alcohol ban
in Phuket News

I really appreciate this post as I myself this past year have started feeling like, damn, too many alcohol bans or not being able to enjoy music and beverage at my favorite places even new places.
*Ban on sales and was lazy to restock*
Ok...I'll buy some Leos if they will sale them to me...
