Getting a Visa in Savannakhet
keysersoze276 replied to smoo1954's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I agree and appreciate you (amongst a few others) giving sound advice. Keep up the good work Champ! To the OP- notice he said a VIP bus. I wouldn’t make any trip for more than ancouple gours on ansecond class bus. Kick back and relax. Bring some snacks if you need them because they include a warm bottle of water and a bag of terrible, sugary snacks. I usually offer them to anyone sitting near me if I see they are enjoying them. -
TAT Expects Strong Summer Air Traffic This Year
keysersoze276 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
TAT. Are they a group of the most optimistic people in the worl or just completely full of s**t? I think both. They spend all this time running “campaigns “ to attract tourists, generally various specific nationalities, religions, etc. Why not come up with a theme song? Aerosmith’s “Dream On” would seem to be a good fit. -
Songkran to generate billions in revenue for Thailand
keysersoze276 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Another note for those that don’t know. Songkran evolved into the sick disgusting mess it is now. Decades ago they used to put a dab of water on your forehead, represeting your sins. Then flick water on your head/face ti wash away your sins. Not the circus it is today. -
Songkran to generate billions in revenue for Thailand
keysersoze276 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Others have pointed out the selling of cheap super soakers (thow away water guns that end up in the Gulf if Thailand). Plus the cheap plastic phone protectors to add to the pollution. Don’t even get me started in the air quality Most of the money I spent when I actually dated to go outside during Songkran was vuying two new phones and several packs of cigarettes, despite not wanting to be slathered in pasted and have buckets of ice water thrown in my face. Plus my clothes usually are so filthy and stink I just throw them out. I hate Singkran. -
Anyone know about DHL? I know Thailand Post is closed for Songkran.
-
I swear to God there are several hotties working at the 7-11 opposite from my condo. Or maybe it is all in my head because I can’t see their faces. Stop with the damn masks!!! I have no idea how much face masks prevent inhalation of air pollution. Maybe a little? Even so, if you want to run around for 3.5 years wearing a mask, which is already super uncomfortable for me, probably the worst time would be when people are dumping and shooting water all over your face all day. Nothing to me though. I avoid Songkran like the plague. It was fun the first two years. Now I find it absolutely annoying, uncomfortable, disgusting, and…you get the point. I stay home unless completely necessary and definitely avoid any place where idiots are sniping people with water guns.

Onward ticket or not?
keysersoze276 replied to jil's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
DrJack is right, as usual. I have never been asked for an onward ticket until my latest entry which I flew in for visa exempt. Any other time, i flew in with a visa or reentry permit. -
I am kinda freaking out here. I am on my way today to get a 30 day extension from a visa exempt (VE expires April 10th). Now that I have read this I am worried. I agree with @khunjeff that these articles are about US citizens applying from within the US, not US citizens in a foreign country. I planned to get 30 days and send in my passport for renewal all today. Printed and fill out all the documents, paid the 130 USD, everything expect the return envelope with the payment. However, and shame on me for this, I didn't look at how many Thai holidays are coming up. Even Songkran! Dooooooh! National holidays this month in Thailand equal at least a week starting tomorrow. So that gives me maybe 3 weeks at best to get my passport back? Then I am on overstay? Maybe someone can help me with some questions. I am based in Bangkok, btw (Nonthaburi immigration, actually) 1. Will I be on overstay if I can't leave the country due to having my passport mailed in while my new one is being processed? 2. Does the Embassy really send the passport to USA, I was under the impression they did it right here in BKK? 3. My Passport is not near the expiration date, would I be better off making a border run to Vientiane or Savannakhet and getting a 60 day tourist visa to buy some time, and is this possible with only 4 empty pages in my passport? (Of course I have several with one or two little stamps in them).

Foreigner Filmed Stealing Money From Exchange Booth in Pattaya
keysersoze276 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
My eyes aren’t so great, but he lookss like he could be Thai to me. How is everyone so sure he is a foreigner? Arms are kinda big for a Thai. Black hair. Did the owner and media automatically assume (again) that Thais don’t commit crimes? Pretty petty offense, nonetheless. Thai coins. Lol. Inside job? Who knows. If he is a foreigner, probably came back after he realized he got an unfair exchange rate and wanted a tiny bit of money back. A tiny bit! (Not to condine steaking at all, so don’t attack me guys) -
May I jump in here in hopes someone can help me with a similar situation? I have chronic back pain and spent 19,000 THB on a Lazy-Boy office chair covered in faux leather. Most comfortable office chai I can possibly imagine and I was happy to make the investment. However, the “leather” is peeling off into little pieces. A lot. Seems to be sprayed on. It been going on for about 5years and is about 7 years after the warranty expired. Anyone know how to fix this damage done already? TIA

Swedish Man Arrested on Samui Island for 75 Days of Overstaying
keysersoze276 replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Agreed. Like it is worthy of a photo op and to write and publish an article. A lot of hatemongers on here saying send him to prison! Lmao! -
I guess I am a Cheap Charlie. I almost never buy “lady drinks”. If I do, it has to be a beer. Not some super cheap watered down tequila for double or triple price. And if you do, you will get pestered for another and another, a round for her and a few “friends”, the mamasan expects one. There goes your bankroll! I’d rather be a Cheap Charlie than having the entire vibe ruined with everyone tapping on my shoulder like beggars holding out a tin cup.

Confused re 45 day VOE
keysersoze276 replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have never been asked to show an onward ticket in all of my eleven years (dozens and dozens of flights) , until my last trip from HCMC to Bangkok a few weeks ago. This was Nok Air. I was entering on visa exempt, made a little fuss (politely) because I just had cataract surgery and could see well and my flight was boarding soon, and showed them my previous non-o visa based on marriage. They let me slide and said they were just doing their job, which I understand. But it has never happened before. Moral of the story: bet to follow @DrJack54’s advice, or at least be to the airport early enough to book a flight or bus. (The Nok Air staff did say I could just even book a cheap bus or train ticket to a neighboring country). I just didn’t have the vision ability or time to do so). Lesson learned. -
As U get older ,have you become a dilligaf ?
keysersoze276 replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
No. It isn’t American usage. Think about what you are saying before you spew it. Idiot. -
I read this post at the perfect time! I am a little outside od BKK where there are no “ladies of the night”. Two super slim Thai hotties wearing those tiny shorts. Their bodies looked perfect for my taste, and they looked young but old enough. Unfortunately, they were both wearing thos goddamn MASKS! Definitely not trying to hit on presumably legal aged teens with masks on because…I can only presume. My guestimate- between 18-20. Reality, could have been much older or even worse younger. Stop withe th masks, already! p.s. i used to agree that everyone wears mask. Like 3 years ago. Why are they still wearing them?

The inevitable .... Thai Evil Eye!
keysersoze276 replied to Don Chance's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
As others have claimed, this has never happened to me neither. Thais can be strange (to us). Could be something as simple as you accidentally forgetting to pay your bill before and instead of confronting you and causing you to lose face, they give you this “evil eye”? And not saying you (the OP) would do something like this, but I have seen foreigners (not just farang) getting too familiar with staff and crossing the line. Also, they aren’t too keen on sarcasm. Could you hve made a comment or comments that you assumed was an innocent joke, but they considered it rude. Could be a number of things, I assume. I hope you are not putting your feet up on the table or chairs or something, especially if their is a portrait of a member of a family I don’t think Inneed to even mention. Anyway, if this bothers you, I would blow it off. You could humbly ask what’s up, but I don’t think it would get you anwhere. Maybe. Good luck. -
Ok. Thanks for all the replies, fellas. So, doing it on Monday is fine, but everyone seems to agree it is better to do it earlier. Including Ubon Joe, in the thread Dr Jack posted (thanks for linking that). I am going to follow the majority her, including Dr Jack and do it tomorrow, just to be safe. Thanks again guys!

Hi guys. I came in on a 45 day stamp, which expires Sunday, Jan 22nd. Will I be charged for one day overstay if I go to immigration for a 30 day extension on the next business day (Monday 23rd)? I think not, but I want to check with the wiser on this forum because I am close to running out of Passport pages. Also, from what I understand I can't do it online unless I live in Bangkok, right? I live in Nonthaburi. I could hit the Bangkok border with a nine iron, but my address is in fact Nonthaburi. 10 minutes from Chaengwattana immigration and 40 minutes from Nonthaburi immigration. Would it be possible to do it at CW? Again, I think not. p.s. I know people will say the sooner the better, but I have a hell of a week ahead and don't really want to spend a whole day traveling and doing the extension. Monday would be much better, if I am not taking a big gamble! TIA!
