  1. I'll add what a few others have said: See a urologist, you could have a prostate problem. The sooner you catch a problem the better. It will consist of a blood test, an ultrasound and a visit from the Doctors finger. I use Bangkok Pattaya Hospital but there are many to choose from.

  2. Any chance your friend could open a Bangkok Bank account? He or she would have to do it in Thailand.  If so your friend could transfer say 6000 baht to his BB account, only one transfer fee applied. He could then transfer 1k a month to another BB account free or to another Thai Bank for 20 baht.

If he goes this route be sure to sign up for mBanking (mobile app) and/or iBanking (internet banking). He'll need them to initiate the transfer.

  3. There is a good chance she has already divorced you for abandoment; like someone has already mentioned. I'm pretty sure its after 3 years. If she moved on to the US or another western country it makes sense that she'd get divorced before she moved.  I'd take the advice of another and hire a lawyer or para legal to try to find out if she did divorce you. If she did then you'll be OK. If not I wouldn't worry about it.

I dont need either as I can get them from 7/11

I do not live here permanently and stay in hotels. It's quick and easy to take a quick walk to 7/11 and get couple of HB eggs, some pineapple and watermelon from a cart and have a decent, healthy breakfast for less than 200 baht.

Good thing he wasn't amped up or tried put up any resistance and try to volt after blowing a fuse. Given his current situation, I think he won't be switching anymore safes. Hopefully, he will remain grounded and no more tourists will be shocked to find their valuables gone.

The tourist's who valuables were stolen can't wait to get back ohm. I couldn't imagine just going out faraday and coming back to find your safe gone.

Are they the salted eggs ?

I like the preserved eggs, the pink ones.

Remove the shell, they have black soft-boiled yolk.

I've always wondered what those pink eggs were. Are they chicken eggs dyed pink? Or some other kind of bird?

  7. If you live in the USA Bangkok Bank is the way to go. They have an office in New York City which has an RTN so you can do domestic transfers from a US bank to your account. The New York office then transfers it to Thailand. As mentioned, very easy to open and great service. If you open an account with them, I suggest getting the mobile app (called mBanking), with this you can transfer money to any Thai bank, pay bills, top up your phone, etc.  Not sure about using the ATM card overseas or transfering money overseas. I think its the Thai gov't that makes that a difficult process. You can also access your account on line with a service called iBanking, I don't have it but you also need to sign up for it when you open your account.

  8. I have a 10 year IDL. I went www.idltravel.com to get it. All that was needed to do was upload your current drivers license, your signature and a current photo (I took a selfie). It cost $59.00 and I had it Fedex'd to Thailand for an additional $53.00.  It does work, I was stopped two times with it and was waved on. No more 600 baht fine (or 500 baht if you pay the fine right now) for driving without a license.

Are you saying saying that it is possible to send ACH from the U.S. thru BKK Bank NY to some other person's BKK Bank account in Thailand?  Are you still doing this now?  This is great if it is 100% percent certain.

When you transfer the funds to BKK Bank NY how do you give them instructions to send it on to the account in Thailand? I assume this has to be done online?

You will need to open the account in Thailand. Get the account number from them. If its a regular passbook account it will be a 10 digit number. Go to whatever US bank you want to use to send the cash and setup the transfer. BB Banks Routing Transit Number (RTN) is: 026008691. That should be all the information you will need: the persons name on the account, account number, the receiving banks RTN. Some banks may want more info but that is all my FCU needed. If you go to BB Bank web site, click the International tab and you can find the NY address, phone number, emai address, etc. When I first sent money to my wifes account she was my fiance still using her maiden name, completely different from my name.

As other people mentioned you should have a backup plan as well. If you just have a Schwab account and your ATM card gets eaten, lost or damaged you' ll be SOL for a couple days until you get a replacement. With a BB account you can go into any branch and withdraw using the passbook if you lose the ATM card.

  10. Like most here I'm using BKK Bank New York. My wife and I both have accounts there. I go on line to my Navy Fed Credit Union and transfer whatever cash I need and in two to three days its available in Thailand. US banking laws allow a maximum of $5000.00 per week to the same account via interbank transfer. When we bought our car, about $25,000.00 I had to send a wire transfer and because it goes to BKK Bank New York its considered a domestic transfer so its at a lower rate. If you go BKK Bank web site, click on the International Tab and you'll find the RTN number and address in NY. You will have to open the account in Thailand. When you do, I highly reccomend you also sign up for the Mobile App, called Bualuang mBanking and also iBanking which is the PC on line banking. The mobile app is great, you can pay bills, top up your phone, transfer to other banks, etc.

    Yeah, that's an odd one.

Is it a crime to jump bail if you are later acquitted?

Something like this happened in the US a few years ago. When you post bail you are guarenteeing that you will appear in court until your case is settled, whether you are guilty or not. The guy in the US who was eventually acquitted, had to pay all additional court costs relating to his absence, was fined (in lieu of jail time) for his no show. Also, when he did not show he forfeited his bail, even though he was later acquitted. So he also had to pay his entire bond back to a pissed off bail bondsman. I can just assume that Thailand Law may be similar.

  12. Whatever happened to leaving the girls ID at the front desk and them calling your room if you are not leaving with the girl? I realize that this was at a condo but don't they have a security desk of some sort? Regardless, the kid is lucky he didn't die or get seriously ill from whatever drug he ingested. A lesson learned.

Ok, so they nailed a pimp. What about the customers?  The pimp would not be in business unless he had customers.

I agree, they should have set up sting for the customers. Arrest them and if foreigners, deport them when thier sentence is finished, ban them for life from re-entering Thailand. Also notify thier home country of the offense. The USA will put them on a "Registered Sex Offender" data base. If they're pedophiles in Thailand, they're pedophiles everywhere else.

I must say I go there 3 to 4 times a year and never had any issues with internet but then I stay in a classy hotel which gives me decent enough speed. It's the roads, shopping choices, hospitals etc. which are the let down for me. Apart from a very few places (the big shopping malls  i.e. Greenbelt etc.) the PI is way behind Thailand but I like the people more and certainly they are way more polite (I still miss that 'can I help you Sir' that you get there) and the people are softer  (Filipinos make excellent nurses). Anyway no chance of me going for the reasons I state and happy to hop over there several times a year and hop back.

I miss "Thank you sir, you bill is 650 Peso - Only". Another thing to consider at the moment is the current President. It would'nt surprise me at all if he booted every Westerner out of the country on a moments notice. I work for the US Navy and actually meeting my ship in Subic in early Jan. I get pretty good internet from Globe Telecom or WIFI at decent restaurants, bars, hotels when in SBMA, I Skype a lot (voice call only) and never had much of problem, always a good connection. My major reason for not retiring in PI is the health care, Thailand has way better hospitals than PI.

  15. When should you file a TM30? I'm here on the 30 day TV plus an occasional 30 day extension as I am still working. I plan applying for a retirement/marriage VISA in about a year, still a little confused on the difference between thrm. I fill in my address on the arrival card does that count for anything? I am married to Thai woman and we've owned a house for almost 5 years in Pattaya. Is my wife considered the landlord? Does she have to file the TM30 or do I? Thanks....
