The fact that so many officials deny it exists here tells you everything you need to know about this place.

Thailand is the world’s largest brothel. There’s no hiding it. Everyone in the world knows it.

Especially Immigration officials in every Continent, with the Skeptical eyes cast at Thai Women , Unfortunately, not easy to travel with....

There is an easy solution to avoid paying a lot of money.

When they stop you the first time don't pay cash, insist on a ticket. They will collect your driver license and give you the ticket.

And for any future stop that ticket is your don't-pay-continue-card.

They can't collect your driver license anymore. They can only look at the ticket. And that's it.

Officially you should pay that ticket (I think) within 10 days. But I had it already a year or so in my pocket and never paid another fine. And when I finally paid it was the original amount - something like 400B (for a year).

I was told 4 days in Pattaya, and that’s what I did twice

He'll pay somewhere between 4-5 THB/kWh unless he's subletting it.

7 is on the high end of the scale for rentals, but shy of gouging.

Better watch the meter and make sure you're the only one using it..

I got nailed , almost in Bang Saray just ready to sign contract and I asked that question , 15 bloody Baht , I ran out the door

No surprises here, as accidents will happen on a very regular basis, when a significant chunk of those using the roads really shouldn't be.  I used to think that many motorists here were just plain rude, ignorant and selfish, but I now believe it is just that they really have very little or no spatial awareness of others. It is the same in 7/11 or the supermarket, where they stand in the middle of an aisle blocking it, totally unaware someone is behind them, so it is the same on the roads. They seem so preoccupied with doing their thing, they don't comprehend that they need to take other vehicles into consideration. That and driving around drunk and at crazy speeds all combine to produce such terrible casualty statistics. Drive super carefully folks, lets not add to the numbers.

Yes, what’s with the congregating at Escalators Entry’s , and they all look like their jumping a chasm

I'd be interested to know what it costs the Thai government to house an individual prisoner per day in the IDC. For example, if this guy doesn't have money for an airfare, Syrian government doesn't help, how many days does he have to stay in the IDC before the cost of accommodating him exceeds what it would have cost for him to just be chucked on an airplane and sent straight home as soon as possible. Particularly for those who come from very impoverished backgrounds - a $600 USD one way airfare is always going to be pretty unattainable.

    Last minute airfare, Not 600

Well, that's a new one. I am often surprised at the depths to which stupidity runs.

Have to say though that the four immigration officers in the photo look a little too smug for my liking. After all, they simply arrested someone incredibly dumb, who just walked up to them, apparently blithely ignorant of the trouble he was in, but they look like they caught a master criminal.

Anyway, they have locked him up, when a possibly better option would have been to send him on his way, with a blacklist from reentering for the appropriate period, along with the suggestion he grow some brains.

Dumb, he knew Exactly what  he was doing, probably didn’t want to get drafted into that, War

I think there is some paranoia being seen here regards fingerprints/sanitation!!

Do you lot worry about handrails on stairs, escalators - hand grips on buss's, the MRT etc. etc.

Who touches those items , I sure as hell don’t...I use a key or hotel room card for elevator buttons, nobody washed their hands in the toilets, or just run under cold water and drip dry, straight from toilet to out the door, Terminal21 21 in Korat have posted signs on proper hand washing , Pathetic

Seems like a awful lot of expats in Thailand who couldn't score a female in their home country so they are willing to pay to play in Thailand. Paying your mate a salary is a bit more than embarrassing, especially since she will leave once the money stops. Desperation? Lack of Pride?

Better yo give them a salary instead of being nickel and dimes everyday, you are more in control, tell them you have money, buy it if you like it

Everybody has a different level of living standard.  You could live upcountry in Nakorn Nowhere and probably live like a Thai for 30,000 baht a month.  You could also live in Bangkok like a cashed up expat with an employer picking up your rent and international school fees and get by on 650,000 a month.  Big international schools like NIST, Patana, and ISB are quite expensive which really eats into your budget if you have to self-pay.

I sent my gf , 8,000 a month for 6 years and she was still able to gamble, 100,000, you will create a monster, This was in Korat, now I give her 3,000 a week, plenty for her and son and nephew she lives at home, child is in top of his class, he’s 11, if you have money to throw around, throw it, I do but I’m keenyow, she’s a gambler, I don’t feed gamblers

Speaking of both Udon, would you guys say it's important to be there at the end of the week (Thursday/Saturday) should I wish to enjoy the local nightlife ? Is there a big diff between week days and weekend nights in clubs like Tawan Dang, Phoenix, Blue Bar, Day and  Night complexe etc.?

You never know, look at holiday weekends , Sunday Nights  are packed, be careful

of Bin Scams in Day Night, pay by the drink, Try Fun Bar after a Lovely Dinner at Brickhouse, across the soi, the guy owned Witherspoons in Soi Bukoaw  in Pattaya but if you speak a lil Thai, the girls will run away, they want Newbies at Fun Bar, Try Nana Place across from Top Mansion, 490b a night , beds are fantastic, quieter than Top Mansion, doorslammers and surly staff at Top Mansion

    Not impressed then? Bizarre

Bizarre, if you live in Moobaan , NOWHERE, it’s Bizarre, Terminal 21 is Nice, The Mall, I bizarrely hate Central Rachisima , confusing layout, If you like going on a date with a Translate app, be my guest, I guess you re  Bizzarrly Impressed with life in slow lane after boring farm life, if you want to communicate, study some Thai, the police will usually not ticket you in Korat, because they don’t speak English, But The Korat Police are stand up Gentlemen a far cry from Pattaya, Let us know , What your thoughts were on your return

I think a lot depends on how well you know a place - unfortunately the OP won't have either the time or the knowledge to do that.  When I first moved to Khao Yai/Pak Chong, I thought the only nightlife was either the local 'farang bar' or a Thai country music bar near my house. With the benefit of time I've found many bars and 2 nightclubs in Pak Chong - a place many would consider as a 'sleepy hollow' and I continue to find new places even now - 5 years later.  I can't understand why you would say 'avoid Korat' - lots to do there is you know where to look.  KK?  Luckily I have a friend who lives there and knows where to go, I've had good nights out on every trip.

OP, both Udon and KK have a Tawan Daeng club.  If you've never been they're a nightclub/cabaret style venue. Some of the acts can be a little 'tame' and there's a lot of 'lip syncing' going on but I've never met anyone who said they didn't have a good night out at a Tawan Daeng (although I'm sure there will be a few here ????). Once the beer starts flowing the place starts jumping and there's always lots of eye candy.

I’ve heard, Tawan  Dang in Udon, the local Thais will bump shoulders with you and cause a fight, Korat 3 years , now, English not spoken, girls just users, btw I lived in Pattaya 9 years, so it’s Tame, Try Baankuer, not far from UBar same road, but you go down a soi on the right after UBar, Tawan Dang is an ok nite, avoid Club Life next to it and Karoke, Trouble My Friend
