  1. Some of the soldier’s mistress. | Photo via Channel 8 By Petch Petpailin A Thai woman with leukaemia is seeking justice after her soldier husband sued her in order to file for divorce and live with his four mistresses. The 42 year old legal wife, Ying, travelled from the central province of Sing Buri to meet members of the non-profit organisation Saimai Survive to seek help. Ying revealed that she initially turned a blind eye when her husband had mistresses and took care of all of them except her. However, she could no longer endure the situation after he filed for divorce. Ying explained that her husband was a soldier in the central province of Saraburi. They had been in a relationship since 2014 and officially registered their marriage on March 11, 2018. However, they did not live together because Ying needed to care for her elderly mother. Ying noticed changes in her husband’s behaviour. He rarely visited her on his days off and became increasingly distant. She eventually discovered that her soldier husband had been hiding multiple mistresses since 2015. The first mistress was a local woman from Saraburi who had been living with her husband in army welfare accommodation since 2015. The second affair began in 2019 with a mistress from Prachin Buri. This woman moved in with Ying’s husband at a condominium in Pathum Thani but later passed away due to a congenital disease. Love endures The third mistress was from Ayutthaya, and their relationship began at the end of 2019 after the second mistress passed away. During this time, Ying’s husband forged a document in her name to take out a loan, which he then used to fund a wedding with the third mistress. The fourth mistress was also from Saraburi. She often posted pictures of herself with Ying’s husband on social media and pressured him to divorce Ying. Ying’s husband even stole money from her to buy plots of land for this mistress. Ying stated that her husband had another mistress, but she lacked information about this woman. According to Ying, her husband provided financial support to all his mistresses and cared for them. In contrast, Ying, battling leukaemia, had to work as a dishwasher and earn a meagre income to support herself. Ying said she had forgiven her husband for his actions but did not expect him to file for divorce. She received a court summons five days after her mother’s funeral. She tried to contact her husband to discuss the matter, but he never responded. Ying filed a complaint with her husband’s superior but received no response. As a result, she turned to Saimai Survive for assistance. She admitted that she still loved him deeply and did not want to divorce him. Ekkaphop Lueangprasert, the founder of Saimai Survive, promised to submit a complaint to the commissioner of the army premises where Ying’s husband serves. He pledged to help her seek an investigation into the man’s adultery and the unfair divorce proceedings. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-23

  3. Picture courtesy of thaich8 By Bright Choomanee In Pathum Thani, a domestic dispute between a suspicious husband and his wife ended in tragedy when the wife defended herself by stabbing him, resulting in his death. The incident occurred today, January 23, at 1am in a fourth-floor apartment room within a five-storey building in Mueang district, Pathum Thani province. Police Lieutenant Suwat Phoree from the Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, along with senior officers and forensic experts, responded to the scene following reports of the fatal altercation. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 32 year old Manat, who had suffered a fatal knife wound under his left ribcage. The room showed signs of a struggle, with scattered belongings, a blood-stained kitchen knife, and a pestle found nearby. The suspect, 27 year old Oranchon, the man’s wife, was present in the room, holding their eight-month-old baby and awaiting police custody. Oranchon tearfully recounted that her husband, who worked as a vegetable cart vendor at the Si Mum Mueang Market, often accused her of infidelity. She, however, was not working and stayed home to care for their child. On the night of the incident, an argument erupted over his jealousy. Oranchon suggested they separate if he could not trust her and attempted to leave the room to call her mother. Her husband, however, pulled her back, accusing her of wanting to be with another man. She responded by telling him they should end their relationship. In a sudden escalation, her husband struck her on the head with a pestle, causing their baby to cry. Oranchon expressed concern for their child and tried to comfort the baby, but her husband kicked her to the ground. As he attempted to hit her again with the pestle, she grabbed a knife and defended herself, resulting in his death, reported KhaoSod. Police have charged Oranchon with causing death by intentional bodily harm and have taken her into custody for further legal proceedings. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-23

  5. Photo via Facebook/ ข่าวนนทบุรี By Petch Petpailin A Thai man with a disability lost his motorcycle to a woman he met on Facebook during a meeting at his accommodation in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok on Monday, January 20. The 32 year old victim, Thanathat Sisarikorn, shared his story of the theft with a local news Facebook page, Khao Nonthaburi, last night, January 22, at around 10pm, hoping the news agency could help him recover his motorcycle. The stolen vehicle is a black Honda PCX with the registration plate 3กญ 4251 Nakhon Ratchasima. Thanathat told the media that he had been talking to a woman named Jee online since the beginning of the month. Jee later distanced herself from him and started a relationship with another man. Unexpectedly, Jee contacted Thanathat again on Monday and asked to meet him at his apartment in the Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi. He picked her up from her accommodation after finishing work that day. Upon their arrival, Jee urged Thanathat to take a shower as he had just finished work. Thanathat said he complied with her request, leaving the bathroom door open while he showered. He said they were chatting, but Jee suddenly stopped responding. Thanathat rushed out of the bathroom to find that Jee disappeared, taking his motorcycle key with her. He quickly got dressed and went downstairs, only to discover that his motorcycle had already gone. He tried to contact Jee, but she already blocked him on Facebook. Thanathat filed a complaint at Pak Kret Police Station and shared his story on his Facebook account, appealing to netizens to help locate his motorcycle and track down Jee. Thanathat explained that his disability makes commuting via public transportation difficult. He had purchased the motorcycle, worth over 100,000 baht, to ease his commute, and it was still under instalment. He now has to walk to work. The victim revealed that, according to netizens and a security guard at Jee’s accommodation, the woman had a history of theft. He urged the police to arrest her as soon as possible to prevent her from committing further crimes. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-23

  7. Photo courtesy of KhaoSod By Puntid Tantivangphaisal The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has approved an inquiry into the case of late Thai actress Tangmo, following concerns about potential external and official involvement. Suspicions have been raised regarding possible manipulation of the justice process. Police Lieutenant Colonel Yutthana Phaedam, Director-General of the DSI, authorised the investigation yesterday, January 22. This decision came after a complaint was filed requesting the case be treated as a special investigation. The complainant suggested the legal proceedings related to the death of Phattharathida, also known as Tangmo, appeared suspicious. They believe a group may have unlawfully interfered with the criminal justice process to assist others in avoiding or minimising penalties. The investigation aims to uncover whether any distortion of the criminal justice process occurred and if any individuals or state officials were involved. Approval for the inquiry was given under Section 23/1, paragraph two, of the Special Investigation Act of 2004, with subsequent amendments. Police Lieutenant Colonel Nathapol Disatham, a specialist in special cases, has been tasked with overseeing the investigation and will inform the complainant accordingly, reported KhaoSod. 11. Photo via Naewna By Petch Petpailin Officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau raided a luxury condominium in Bangkok’s Thon Buri neighbourhood on Tuesday, January 21, and arrested a Thai couple for producing and distributing a new narcotic known as Pod K. Pod K, a substance similar in appearance to e-cigarettes, contains e-liquid laced with ketamine. This new drug gained popularity among Thai teenagers due to its accessibility, mirroring that of regular e-cigarettes. In response, police launched a targeted operation to crack down on its distribution. This recent investigation began after residents of a luxury condominium in Thon Buri reported frequent disturbances caused by a group of teenagers gathering in one of the units over the past three months. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the condo unit in question was being used as a production and distribution hub for Pod K. The Pod K sold by the couple came in a variety of flavours, such as grape and cola, and was priced between 1,300 and 1,500 baht per unit. The couple operating from the room received orders via the Line messaging application and used app-based delivery services to distribute their products. The couple would leave the packages on the condominium’s ground floor for delivery riders to collect. During the raid, police apprehended the suspects, identified only by their nicknames, Pond and Film. A search of the unit uncovered a wide array of illegal substances, including ketamine-laced e-liquids, methamphetamine (commonly known as Yaba), mixed drugs marketed as collagen, drug-laced drinks, drug-infused jelly, ecstasy, and crystal meth among other ingredients used for drug manufacturing. The couple faced three charges including: Section 145: Producing, importing, exporting, distributing, or possessing Category 1 narcotics. This carries a penalty of up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of between 200,000 and 2 million baht. Section 146: Producing, importing, exporting, distributing, or possessing Category 2 narcotics. This carries a penalty of up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of between 200,000 and 1.5 million baht. Section 162 of the Narcotics Control Act for using a Category 1 drug. The penalty is up to one year of imprisonment, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both. It remains unclear whether police plans to expand their investigation to apprehend other individuals potentially involved in the operation. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-23

  13. Photo via Thai News Agency By Petch Petpailin A Thai monk in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok died from a congenital disease rather than a dog attack. The dog, initially thought to be a Pitbull, was later identified as an American Bully and has now been taken in by an adoptive family. The 46 year old monk, Bannadit, was found dead in his accommodation within the temple on January 21. He had bite marks on his head, and one of his wrists was missing. Bannadit’s pet dog, George was found at the scene. Police and rescuers initially believed that George, presumed to be a Pitbull, fatally attacked the monk due to its instincts. However, the monk’s family disputed this, insisting that George was a friendly dog and had never shown aggression or bitten anyone. The monk had several underlying health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. The family speculated that George may have consumed parts of the monk’s body after he died, as the dog was likely starving. The family expressed their hope that someone would adopt George and provide him with proper care. Yesterday, January 22, a couple from Ayutthaya province, 38 year old Nirat and 33 year old Ploy, visited the temple to adopt George. Nirat, who already owns three dogs of the same breed, expressed confidence in his ability to care for George. Nirat remarked that George showed no signs of aggressive behaviour and appeared to be grieving after the loss of his owner. While George has not attacked his owner, all dog owners are still encouraged to remain mindful of their pets’ instincts. Owners should understand their pets’ nature and behaviour to avoid situations that might provoke aggressive responses. This group, escaping alleged persecution in China’s Xinjiang province since 2014, remains in Thai custody. Concerns for their safety prompted Human Rights Watch to urge Thailand against deportation. Thailand's National Police Chief, Kittharath Punpetch, stated that there’s no standing plan to send the Uyghurs back, emphasising ongoing discussions with the National Security Council. He assured that while Thailand isn't a mediator for legal disputes, the police are open to working with international entities. Senator Angkhana Neelapaijit has been active in the proceedings, acknowledging a petition about the Uyghurs' detainment conditions. Although prior attempts to visit them were redirected to meetings, she vows to press further. Angkhana highlighted that mishandling the issue could provoke human rights backlash. 25. File photo for reference only In a decisive hearing, the Central Bankruptcy Court has dismissed the Ministry of Finance's proposal to increase oversight on Thai Airways' rehabilitation plan, favouring the effective progress made by the current management team. The ministry had sought to appoint two additional administrators to the airline's recovery process, potentially increasing governmental influence. However, the court rejected this move, viewing it as unnecessary given the administrators' demonstrated success in steering the airline towards stability. The court approved critical amendments to the rehabilitation strategy to solidify this trajectory. These include reducing the par value of shares to address past financial losses and speeding up debt repayments to appease creditors. This adjustment comes on the heels of a favourable vote from creditors in November 2023, reflecting widespread confidence in the existing approach. Critics had labelled the ministry's proposal as an attempt to exert more control, but the court highlighted the sufficiency and competence of the current management team. The ruling signals strong judicial support for the existing rehabilitation framework and cautions against external interference. As Thai Airways implements the new measures, which include an accelerated debt repayment schedule and share adjustments, the airline is expected to gain financial footing while assuring creditors of its commitment to recovery. The decision not only stabilises the airline's present standing but also reaffirms the importance of maintaining effective, uninterrupted management in achieving long-term financial health. -- 2025-01-22
