  2. A 24 year old Thai woman has come forward with shocking claims that an Indian man posing as an Arab businessman lured her into a relationship, only to leave her with a sexually transmitted disease. Miss B (pseudonym), a nail art instructor from Samut Prakan, reported her ordeal yesterday, September 24, to Ekapop Luangprasert, advisor to the interior minister and founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page. She revealed that in August, the man had approached her workplace multiple times, initially requesting nail services, before managing to get her phone number. After weeks of persistent communication, Miss B agreed to meet the Indian man. On September 11, their evening escalated to drinks at a hotel, where they had unprotected sex. The morning after, the man vanished, blocking all communication. Desperate for answers, Miss B tracked down the man’s girlfriend, uncovering a chilling truth: this wasn’t his first deception. The man allegedly has a history of seducing both women and LGBTQ individuals, with as many as 100 victims across Samut Prakan and surrounding provinces. Many reportedly contracted infections, with some women suffering from herpes after being coerced into oral sex. Miss B is now experiencing severe symptoms, including itching, burning, and difficulty urinating. Although she hasn’t yet had a blood test or seen a doctor, Ekapop vowed to assist her in getting a medical examination. In a bid to warn others, the Sai Mai Must Survive team arranged a press conference, urging women to be cautious, reported KhaoSod English. “If you’ve been tricked by a man like this, report it immediately.” The hunt for the smooth-talking Indian conman continues. 4. A Thai man in a red shirt caused a commotion at Pathumwan Intersection, Bangkok, verbally assaulting drivers and raising his hand as if to strike a car. The incident, which occurred yesterday, September 24, was captured and shared on TikTok by user @nin_slamboys. The footage shows a man dressed in a red shirt with a cross-body bag, aggressively confronting vehicles at the intersection, creating a dangerous situation for road users. In the video, the Thai man can be seen approaching a parked van, shouting at its driver, and gesturing wildly before the van drives away. He then continues his erratic behaviour, targeting another car, raising his fist as if to punch the vehicle but ultimately refrains from any physical altercation. This series of events left many onlookers and drivers alarmed due to the potential risk of accidents and harm to innocent bystanders. Social media users quickly reacted to the video, with many questioning the absence of police intervention. Despite the proximity of a nearby police booth, there appeared to be no law enforcement presence to address the disruptive behaviour. “Where are the police? There’s a booth right there; surely someone must have seen this.” Many users on TikTok and other social media platforms shared their thoughts and experiences, with some recounting similar incidents where police presence was lacking. This incident has sparked a broader discussion about public safety, the role of law enforcement, and the need for better monitoring of busy intersections to prevent such situations from escalating, reported KhaoSod. 6. An orange taxi yesterday was seen transporting a motorcycle in its back seat, with a door hanging wide open, driving down Rama II Road in Bangkok. This incident, which took place yesterday, September 24, sparked significant online criticism due to safety concerns. A viral video captured by a passerby revealed an orange taxi with its left door ajar, carrying a motorcycle that extended out of the vehicle. The footage, shared by the Facebook page อยากดังเดี๋ยวจัดให้ รีเทิร์น part 7, highlighted the potentially dangerous situation on Rama II Road. The post questioned, “Do you consider the safety of your life and the property of others using public roads?” As the taxi continued to drive down the middle of the road, netizens expressed their outrage and concern over the apparent disregard for road safety. The motorcycle’s protrusion from the taxi made the situation particularly alarming for other road users. The clip quickly garnered numerous comments and shares, with many people condemning the driver’s actions. “This is incredibly irresponsible. What if the motorcycle falls out and causes an accident?” “How can someone be so careless about the safety of others on the road?” The incident has raised broader questions about road safety standards and enforcement in the city. Many users called for stricter regulations and penalties for such reckless behaviour. “We need more stringent laws to prevent such incidents. It’s not just about the driver; it’s about everyone’s safety.” Others suggested that the taxi driver might have been in a desperate situation, attempting to transport the motorcycle without considering the risks involved. Despite this, the consensus remained that safety should never be compromised. The viral video has prompted discussions among social media users about the importance of adhering to road safety rules. Some individuals shared their own experiences with similar situations, highlighting the need for increased awareness and caution on the roads, reported KhaoSod. 7. Rescuers in the central province of Ayutthaya are searching for a Thai man in orange underwear after an attempted suicide at the Pasak River. The half-naked man then fled the scene on a motorcycle and disappeared. Siam Junkathappa, a member of the Phutthai Sawan Rescue Foundation, revealed to Channel 7 that the team received a notification about a suicide attempt at around 2.30pm yesterday, September 24. A motorist informed the rescuers that a man, around 50 years old and wearing only orange underwear, attempted to jump off Pridi Bridge. According to the motorist, the man parked his motorcycle in the middle of the bridge above the Pasak River and was seen talking to himself, raising concerns about his well-being. Rescuers rushed to the scene and found the man, as reported, talking to himself. Siam approached him to engage in conversation and tried to persuade him to abandon his suicide attempt. However, the man spoke incoherently and then told the rescue team not to worry. “Don’t be afraid of me. Don’t worry about the suicide. I’m the son of a police sergeant major. I have a 400-square-metre plot of land in Ang Thong province worth over 10 million baht. I also own another 400-square-metre plot near Chai Mongkhon Temple. I live alone with my dog.” Siam said that after delivering his message, the man immediately got on his motorcycle and rode off. He was last seen heading towards the city centre of Ayutthaya, continuing to Rojjana Road, before disappearing. The rescue team continued searching for him due to concerns over his mental health and safety. There have been no further updates from the rescuers regarding the man. In a related incident last year, police in Chachoengsao province, near Bangkok, arrested a Thai man for riding a motorcycle naked around a hotel in the area. Officers did not disclose the motive behind his actions or whether he was suffering from a mental illness or under the influence of drugs. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai), or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). 9. A 46 year old technician, recently separated from his partner, was found dead after waiting for a digital money transfer he hoped would change his fortunes. The incident occurred yesterday at a multipurpose pavilion in Village 4, Khao Tha Phra subdistrict, Chai Nat province. Police Lieutenant Manit Yangthueng, an investigator from Mueang Chai Nat Police Station, received the report and immediately coordinated with Chai Nat Narenthorn Hospital’s medical team and a local rescue foundation. The deceased, who resided in Suea Hok subdistrict, was discovered shirtless, lying on the floor near a wall. Beside him were a bottle of white liquor, a can of coffee, and a strip of painkillers. Preliminary examination revealed no signs of injury or struggle, leading police to suspect heart failure as the cause of death. An interview with the employer revealed that the deceased had been living at the pavilion temporarily after his breakup left him homeless. Known for his heavy drinking, the technician had consumed white liquor both morning and evening. He had taken a day off, citing a headache, for which his employer had provided painkillers. After failing to reach him by phone, the employer went to check on him and discovered him lifeless, just three days before he was due to receive a digital money transfer of 10,000 baht (US$300). This money was intended to help him rent a room and support his child. The ex-partner of the deceased confirmed his drinking habits. “We broke up because of his drinking. He drank every day, leading to constant arguments.” She added that the deceased was scheduled to receive 10,000 baht on September 27 due to his vulnerable status and registration for state welfare benefits. The money was meant for his child, but he passed away before it could be received, reported KhaoSod. Family members, accepting the cause of death, said, “We are not suspicious about his passing and wish to proceed with religious rites.”.

  13. Phuket Town is in a race against time to ensure its roads are smooth and festival-ready before the Phuket Vegetarian Festival kicks off next week. The city’s top brass is pulling out all the stops, with Deputy Mayor Suphot La-ongphet leading the charge on a series of urgent road resurfacing projects across key streets. Suphot was spotted inspecting Yaowarat Road on Monday, September 23, where the finishing touches are being made to a newly installed drainage system that promises to banish the area’s flooding woes. “We’re focused on quickly resurfacing Yaowarat Road to keep residents and road users safe.” Suphot emphasised that the resurfacing will include fresh road markings, zebra crossings, and a footpath clean-up to ensure the area sparkles for festival-goers. The city is also urging residents to be patient, as the timeline for the works will be communicated in advance to minimise disruptions. The festival, which officially runs from October 3 to 11, draws large crowds, making safe, smooth roads a top priority. Meanwhile, the deputy mayor revealed an ongoing project in partnership with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to move power lines underground along Thepkrasattri, Deebook, and Phuket Roads. “We’ve instructed operators to boost lighting and mark closures clearly, so everyone can navigate safely.” Nighttime resurfacing is also underway on Komaraphat Road and Thung Kha Road, with work taking place between 9pm and 6am and 10pm and 5am, respectively. Residents are kindly asked to avoid parking in these areas during the roadworks to prevent delays, reported Phuket News. 15. An unidentified foreign man allegedly sexually assaulted a three year old Thai girl at her home in the Rawai district of Phuket in the early hours of Monday, September 23. The young victim suffered severe injuries to her private parts. A Thai man who lived near the victim’s home shared the story of the three year old victim with the Phuket Times, today, September 25. He revealed that the sexual assault occurred in the early hours of Monday, and he encountered the injured girl yesterday at around 7am. The man explained that he heard the girl crying and went to check on her. He found the girl lying outside her home and later noticed blood flowing from her vagina. Her face was pale, and she could barely speak. The girl told him that the foreign man hurt her. According to the man, the girl’s aunt was unaware of the girl’s injuries even though she was sitting nearby because she was intoxicated. The man and other locals in the area took the girl to Vachira Phuket Hospital. The medical team have not yet confirmed the sexual assault or provided an update on her condition. This man revealed that he saw the suspicious foreigner, aged approximately 38 to 39 years old, coming to the girl’s house at about 2am on Monday but he could not identify his nationality. This foreign man visited the girl’s aunt many times before to party together. The foreign man, the girl’s aunt, and two other people were seen partying together on Sunday night before the incident was revealed. Locals in the area revealed to the media that the girl had to live with her aunt because her parents were imprisoned. Her mother was arrested for drug possession, while her father was arrested for theft. The girl’s aunt did not care for her alone, as many people in the area felt sorry for her and often gave her food and snacks. Phuket Times reported that police officers and relevant local government officials today took the girl’s aunt to the police station for questioning but officers had not yet released any details to the public. The high-stakes operation saw staff at multiple entertainment venues undergo random tests, aiming to ensure drug-free working environments in the heart of Phuket’s party scene. Patong Police, led by Chief Police Colonel Chalermchai Hirasawat, alongside his deputies Pol. Lt. Col. Narubadin Panglisen, Pol. Lt. Col. Somporn Surin, and Pol. Lt. Col. Suchart Chumphusang spearheaded the campaign. “We’re committed to making sure Bangla Road remains safe for everyone.” Kathu district officials, including Jiravat Namart and Sikarin Aninbon, joined the effort, bolstered by volunteers from the local Volunteer Defence Corps. Public health was also on the agenda, with Namchai Prateep leading the district’s health officials in the raids. This crackdown, part of the third phase of a wider crime prevention campaign by Region 8 Police, falls under the banner “Protect the people, suppress dangers, be modern, and care for the people.” Their focus is to ensure that popular entertainment venues are drug-free through random urine tests as part of the White Entertainment Venue Project. A total of 141 employees were tested—73 men and 68 women—but Patong Police remain tight-lipped about whether any tests came back positive, reported Phuket News. 19. Last night's sudden overflow of the Ping River has left downtown Chiang Mai heavily flooded, with commercial areas such as Chang Klan Road severely affected. Troops and volunteers have been actively filling sandbags to strengthen the town's flood wall, while numerous parked cars have been submerged, though larger vehicles can still navigate the water-clogged streets. Dusit Pongsapipat, chief of the Office for Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, aimed to clear up rampant rumours by confirming that the flood wall at Ban Ko Klang in the Pa Daet sub-district had not completely failed. Instead, sandbags installed by villagers had given way, necessitating additional reinforcements to protect the area. Governor Nirat Pongsitthithavorn has been overseeing teams tracking water levels in various parts of the Ping River since the crisis began. This ongoing effort, in collaboration with the Royal Department of Irrigation, is crucial as many areas remain vulnerable to further flooding. The province's command centre has been inundated with urgent calls for assistance, particularly from homes with bed-ridden relatives. The continuous downpour from the recent Soulik storm, combined with a low-pressure system, has exacerbated the flooding situation, with heavy rains persisting since last Saturday. The Royal Irrigation Department's local office has warned that Ping River levels may temporarily stabilise but will likely rise again due to runoff from nearby river basins in Chiang Dao District. The residents of Chiang Mai are thus bracing for a challenging period ahead, as efforts to combat the flooding continue in earnest. File photo for reference only -- 2024-09-25

  21. The government has initiated the distribution of a 10,000-baht cash aid to 3 million needy and disabled citizens. This is the first phase of its digital wallet program. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra formally launched the program this morning (Sep 25), with funds having been transferred at midnight. The program aims to assist 14.5 million people, but the first phase targets 3 million due to some limitations in the PromptPay payment system. Welfare cardholders, who are about 12.4 million in total, and 2.1 million disability cardholders are given first priority. The government will keep disbursing funds to qualified individuals for the remainder of September. Beneficiaries can track their fund status using the "Rath Jaii" app, developed by the Comptroller General’s Department. Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat mentioned that the second phase of the digital wallet scheme might be postponed until after the new year due to ongoing system development. Still, 186 billion baht has been set aside in the 2025 fiscal year budget to support the continuation of the program. Suggested initially by the Pheu Thai Party as part of its strategy to stimulate the economy, the digital wallet program plans to distribute 450 billion baht, allotting 10,000 baht each to 45 million citizens. The current phased rollout ensures that state welfare recipients and people with disabilities get their payments first, provided they are registered with the PromptPay system. 23. The government has given the green light for the allocation of 7.12 billion baht to fund an electric vehicle (EV) incentive scheme, with the aim to stimulate the country's shift to environmentally-friendly transport. This funding will offer grants to buyers of EVs and electric motorcycles who have made purchases, but not yet applied for the government's EV incentive. So far, 6.87 billion baht in grants has been disbursed to assist 55,000 EVs, with over 5 billion baht set aside for disbursement. In the first stage of the EV 3.0 scheme, EVs priced below 2 million baht were granted up to 150,000 baht, and electric motorcycles priced below 150,000 baht received up to 18,000 baht. The grants are sent directly to the manufacturers, and customers can claim the grant once their vehicles are registered. The second stage, known as EV 3.5, which is set to run from 2024 to 2027, will offer grants from 20,000 to 100,000 baht based on the battery size of the vehicle. This is a move to help Thailand reach its goal of having EVs represent 30% of all vehicle production by 2030, leading to a 40% drop in greenhouse gas emissions. To qualify for the scheme, manufacturers need to meet domestic production standards by 2024 or face increased standards in 2025. This condition has already driven significant investments in the country, with over 80 billion baht allocated to the creation of EV production bases in Thailand. The government hopes that these steps will speed up the growth of the EV industry and aid in achieving its sustainable development goals. File photo for reference only -- 2024-09-25
