PANG-NGA (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently organized a fam trip to Pang-nga province as participants learned about the value and significance of health and wellness tourism. Foreign media representatives and partners took part in the wellness journey in Khao Lak area of Phang-nga on 22-23 July. The trip provided an enriching health and wellness tourism experience as well as nurtured both physical and mental well-being through various activities, including experiencing natural hot spring baths and boiling eggs at Tha Nam Plai Pu Hot Spring, surfing the waves at Memories Beach, practicing yoga and meditation, participating in handicraft workshops such as batik painting, and tasting local delicacies of Michelin-level quality. 4. BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s industrial sentiment rose for the first time in three months in June, bolstered by higher domestic demand, but sluggish exports and uncertainty over the formation of a new government remained a concern. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said its industrial sentiment index rose to 94.1 in June from 92.5 in May. While domestic demand has been supported by a continued recovery in the vital tourism sector, the FTI said in a statement that soft global demand continues to crimp Thai exports - a key driver of Thailand’s growth. FTI vice chair Montri Mahaplerkpong told a briefing that the federation expects 29-30 million foreign tourists this year, compared with nearly 40 million in pre-pandemic 2019. According to the FTI, political uncertainty persists after Thailand’s May national election as a new government has yet to be formed. Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of the Move Forward Party that won the May election, has been blocked by Parliament from becoming prime minister and suspended from his parliamentary duties pending the conclusion of an investigation into his electoral eligibility. BANGKOK (NNT) - As part of ongoing efforts to elevate content quality, the Public Relations Department (PRD) is shifting its focus to more engaging and easy-to-understand information about government policies and undertakings. The PRD on Monday (24 July) hosted a seminar to discuss ways of raising the quality of online communication and how online platforms can facilitate public understanding of administrative visions and policies, driven through ‘ID IA IR Chat’. This mechanism propels the work of the PRD as a bridge between the public and government agencies. In his opening remarks, Caretaker Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Anucha Nakasai told event participants, comprised of mostly PRD officers, that online communication is a double-edged sword. 8. Palang Pracharath boss Prawit Wongsuwan denied widespread reports today (Tuesday) that he intends to quit politics, saying “I have never said that I will.” When asked to comment on a report that he would not take a ministerial position if his party decides to join the new government, he said he would have to wait and see, but refused to comment on Pheu Thai party’s bid to form a government. Over the weekend, core Pheu Thai members met Palang Pracharath senior party members at Pheu Thai headquarters. While political observers believe that Pheu Thai wanted to invite Palang Pracharath to join the government, Pheu Thai leader Chonlanan Srikaew said the meeting was only intended to woo Palang Pracharath’s support for his party’s prime ministerial candidate. Even without the meeting, which was abruptly cancelled without explanation, the message is already clear to everyone. Cholnan told Thai PBS World on Monday that he wanted to inform the meeting formally that his mission to mobilise wider support for a prime ministerial candidate, to be nominated by the now Pheu Thai-led alliance, had failed. “Every political party we talked to made it clear that working with us is impossible, as long as the Move Forward Party advocates mending Article 112 (the lèse majesté law),” said Cholnan. Orwell was dissatisfied with most of the pubs in his city. He wrote an essay for the Evening Standard in 1946, which he called “The Moon Under Water”, in which he described the rules that his ideal drinking establishment would follow. A Russian chef, Alesha Voronin, chose to name his restaurant in the heart of Bangkok after it. Alesha came to Thailand on holiday, thinking he would only stay for a month. While he was staying with his girlfriend for a night in a school near Songkhla, because the hotel in the town was completely booked due to funerals, a man high on “ya ba” (a potent mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine) broke in and hit him on the head with a stick, with the intent to assault his girlfriend. This left him with 23 scars on his head and he was taken to hospital, where he stayed for a few weeks. Seeing how hospitable and kind the villagers were with him, what local life was like, his tourist mind set changed and he wanted to know more about the country and its customs. “People were very kind to me, I mean the whole village, every day, people would come with flowers and fruits from all over this town, just for support. The hospital, it’s so beautiful, it’s just like a Zen garden, the pond, the gazebo at the centre of the pond. At 7am, pink lotuses opened and, at 7.30, white lotuses opened and everything was so nice.” Full Story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/george-orwell-inspired-russian-restaurant-in-bangkok/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-07-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The party reached the decision during a virtual meeting with their MPs to discuss the current political situation and its position on joining a government. The party claimed that United Thai Nation’s former core member, Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, and Palang Pracharath’s leader, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, led the coup in 2014 and intended to remain in power long enough to pass the 2017 Constitution. The ombudsman also asked the Charter Court to order parliament to suspend the prime ministerial selection process, until it rules on Pita’s renomination. He was rushed off to Pattaya Hospital, however, his wounds were so severe that he died. Officers at the scene discovered an additional horrific scene – a woman dead behind a counter, in a grim pool of blood. 24. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) today apologised for the cancellation of a pre-season friendly between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. The game was abandoned after a heavy downpour in the capital caused flooding in the stadium, leading to the unfortunate cancellation of the match. Originally slated to kick off at 5pm, the match was unable to follow its schedule due to the persistent downpour that had been ongoing since early yesterday afternoon. After a 45-minute wait, Tottenham officially announced the cancellation with a statement that read… “Today’s friendly against Leicester City has been cancelled due to the waterlogged course and unfavourable weather conditions. The competition organisers followed the advice of relevant departments that the Rajamangala Stadium is not safe to play due to heavy rain in Bangkok.” Many Thai fans flooded the comments section with their expressions of disappointment, and some even placed blame on the match organisers for the cancellation. Others were hot with shame and offered apologies to both teams for the inconvenience. Some argued that the rain wasn’t as heavy as perceived, but rather, the stadium’s inability to drain the water effectively led to the unplayable conditions. They urged the organizers to consider alternative venues such as Thunder Dome Stadium or BG Stadium, which they believed would have coped better with the weather. The official Facebook page of Leicester City also announced the issue of the unplayable condition and the cancellation to its fans, and the comment session was also full of complaints against the organiser.
