Many people here may not know this about me:

In fact, I have been passionately IN LOVE with a woman, in Thailand, but only from afar.

I do not mean to say that she is very "far", from me, in terms of miles or kilometers, like the Moon from the stars.

She is just around the corner from me, in Earthly terms.

Her close proximity to me makes my life all the more intolerable.

Of course, I ask for no sweet advice on this forum.

I only ask for some sympathy.

Truly, I am smitten with her. Just a whiff of her imagined perfume makes my heart palpitate.

Do you even think that I am joking?

I will never declare my love to her, simply because my great longing for her sweetens my life, and provides me something to look forward to.

I sometimes dream about her, and often tell myself stories about her.

She is so beautiful to me; I cannot think of any other.

If we should wed, I would only tell her stories which would promote her happiness.

All cultures are not the same.

    I love this culture.

This culture is pretty special, and glorious.

The ones who  want a serious relationship are not interested in "butterflies". You sound like the worst kind of sexual predator. If you wanted a steady girl they are not difficult to find, but that seems to be the last thing you want.

I sound like a sexual predator pointing out the way many women are here?  I don’t drink, don’t go to bars, don’t sleep around at all.  I prefer to stay single and celibate than deal with most of the women here, who are in fact the “butterflies” you refer to.  I do have a couple close Thai female friends who I have known for almost a decade and they are both fiercely protective of me so the flaky women have little chance of getting at me.

  3. I had an Electrolux at first but ended up exchanging it for an LG FV1450H2B 10.5/7kg which I’m quite happy with.  If I had the space, I would have gotten a separate washer and dryer as it would be quicker to do multiple loads.

One of the big problems in Thailand is the ill advised requirement that all people testing positive for the Wuhan, must be hospitalized regardless of the severity of their infection even those who are asymptomatic. Thus, over crowded medical facilities for no rational reason.

    +1.

Was dating a nurse who worked on the Covid ward at a major hospital.  She said that it was so much easier as most of the patients would “just chill and maybe cough a little” (her words) and that it was the patients on other wards (who were there for surgery and such) that would need much more attending to.

I’ll never forget when she said “I just don’t think Covid is as dangerous as they want us to believe”.

That's outrageous. So your Friend was charged 15000 Baht a Day. Makes me angry. Wonder how much the Total for 2 luxurious Weeks of Hospitalization with a Ventilator would come to?

Yes, for Thailand it was certainly not cheap and I’m not sure why he chose one of the most expensive hospitals.  I looked on their website at the room rates and see that a standard room is ฿11,300 and an ICU room is ฿14,800 (including food, nursing and hospital services).  I don’t know which room he chose but it does make one wonder why we are required to have $100,000 USD (฿3,200,000) Covid insurance coverage if coming into Thailand as I can’t see how the cost would ever approach those levels.

  6. No idea what a government hospital would cost but a friend contracted Covid and spent 2 weeks in Bangkok Hospital (one of the more expensive private hospitals) and his final all inclusive bill was ฿210,000 with no insurance.  No ventilator, so I don’t know how much that would have added to the cost had it been necessary.

And yes, he’s obese with cardiovascular health problems fwiw.

Now try replacing the word “unvaccinated” with “obese” in what you said here and see if you still stand by your desire for medical apartheid based on peoples personal choices about what they put into their bodies.

Collective healthcare cost of Covid over 2 years estimated to be between $56 Billion to $556 Billion

    https://www.ahip.org/new-study-covid-19-health-care-costs-could-reach-556-billion-over-two-years/

Healthcare costs attributed to obesity in 2014 were $1.4 Trillion (and probably more now)

I think you may be on to something here.

I use it for all my grocery shopping and online transactions.  Paid my BNH bill for my last endocrinology visit and then have used it for many other things.  It is done by using my Coinbase Crypto Visa Card.  I do get rewards also for using it of up to 4%.  Sure there is a conversion fee from crypto to fiat for using other types of Crypto one has designated, but that in itself is offset by the rewards earned and then the fact I use my USDC funds then there is no conversion fee.  Believe what you want, it is readily accessible and can be used anywhere a Visa card can be used.

Question for you regarding Coinbase as I recently made a small(ish) investment in it.

Now that PayPal (in addition to major investment firms) has recently announced that they will give people the ability to buy and sell crypto currencies, what do you see as the future for Coinbase?

Will these new entrants to the market have not only the long time brand recognition (and financial clout) to ultimately render Coinbase a “nobody” in the end?  I have read of people complaining that Coinbase fees are too high, so what is stopping the “big players” from undercutting them and ultimately killing any value as an investment much like Walmart and Amazon did with smaller retailers?

Just curious as to your opinion.

That was just an example. I've seen others renting for 30k and selling at 6 million.

Ideally, I'd like to sell my current house first, but probably have to sell it and the land next to it at the price I bought it at 7 years ago, which is OK, I guess.

Another thing, I'm moving about 600 km, so would like to do it gradually.

If you get what you paid for it, consider yourself lucky (in this market).

No need to move gradually.  Hire a moving company and move into rental wherever you are considering buying for a short period to give yourself time to find the right house to purchase.   I just think that the opportunity cost of holding onto a second home could be high.  I’ve read many stories online where people have purchased a home before selling their current home only to regret that decision in hindsight.

For example, a 15 million baht house, which is renting for 50k a month.

That’s not a very good P/E ratio for a rental.  With those numbers, I would rent and not buy.

I can rent my current house, or sell it when I move

Are you sure you want to have an extra illiquid asset the may or may not be easily rented or sold?  If it were me, I’d sell first and then move.

I need a house to live in, it is not an investment, but renting a house feels like throwing money away.

If you don’t sell first, the old home becomes an investment.  Whether or not renting is “throwing money away” all depends on the P/E (price to rent) ratio of the particular property.

The breakdown of the value of condos purchased by foreigners was:

    1-2 M baht - 141

    2-3 M baht - 208

    3-5 M baht - 120

    5-10 M baht - 133

So 602 condos sold under ฿10,000,000 leaves 58 sold over that price.  How many dozens of new buildings start at over 10 million?  There must be thousands and thousands of units for sale over 10 million.  Who’s going to absorb that inventory?

Also, the average price might be over ฿5,000,000 but the median is under ฿3,000,000

Seeing that the average price paid by Thai citizens is so much lower than foreigners, I don’t see how all the high priced units will ever be sold.

Rest assured if you get ill with COVID-19 you are very likely to find yourself reliant upon the knowledge, skill and dedication of doctors and nurses who in turn put their own lives and risk taking care of people, such as yourself, that refuse to follow the best medical advice wrt to this virus.

I’ve consulted with 3 different physicians recently regarding the vaccines.

    One recommends the Moderna

    One recommends Sinovac

One recommends waiting until efficacy and side effects (of any and all vaccines) are better known and understood.

Which one should I listen to?

Are you agreeing with that (as your evidence of earlier incentive programs supports) or contesting it?

Neither.  Just pointing out that it was in fact happening.  New incentives are offered all the time.  Some of them are quite humorous.
