That'd be kind of an own goal, the Thais won't care and you'll have allowed them to ruin your holiday. Better to take it and then either bin it or leave it in your hotel room as evidence you never went out. I'd love to see the egg on their faces if they go ahead and launch it, only to find out it's completely legally unenforceable.

But will you be able to remove it?  I have been picturing ankle bracelets the same as criminals wear for home detention.  If you did remove it would there be a fine or possibly jail time?

  3. Other parties and their members face arrest and imprisonment if they have a meeting of 5 or more, it's extremely hard for a party to organise an election campaign as it takes more than 4 people in any country.  You have prospective politicians who have absolutely no choice regardless of their political opinions but to reluctantly go with Prayuth.  The election, sad to say is already decided.

The order of the white elephant, 5 th order would be a nice gesture.

Given to thai officials for 5 years service, not in the class of the Australian Cross of Valour.  In Australian standards it's like receiving the Australian military service medal (4year) and the Victoria Cross.  No offence intended but doesn't compare.

The Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant (Thai: เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์อันเป็นที่เชิดชูยิ่งช้างเผือก; RTGSKhrueang Ratcha Itsariyaphon An Pen Thi Choet Chu Ying Chang Phueak) is an order of Thailand. It was established in 1861 by King Rama IV of the Kingdom of Siam. Along with the Order of the Crown of Thailand, it is regularly awarded to government officials for each five years of service, making it Thailand's most-awarded order.

Serving 5 years as a Thai official doesn't equate to the bravery of Dr Harris when you consider a thai died in the rescue operation.

  6. Momentum is building in Australia for Dr Harris to be awarded the Cross of Valour.

Australian Bravery Decorations recognise acts of bravery by members of the community. They selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives or property of others.

Bravery or courage differs from fortitude in a crisis situation. Bravery is a deliberate choice to go from a place of safety to danger or remain in a perilous position to provide help.

The Cross of Valour is the highest bravery decoration. It is awarded for acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme peril.

The civilian version of the Victoria Cross

There are also calls for him to receive the Australian of the year award.
